Had an 85 year old and teenagers in our group . Took a walk around some of the dam and heard about the history and how significant it was in the social life of teens in the 1940s . Memories of how busy it was in the 60s and 70s. Although it is well visited nowadays it is never that busy. You can walk all the way round and park in the pub car park free. There is plenty to see as you go round birds , ducks etc . It’s a pleasant and easy walk .

We took the children to the boat house for lunch after a morning out.

The couple who run the boat house brought out toys for the children. We had homemade soup which was lovely.

It's only open certain days, however it's always open on Fri Sat and Sun.

They also do cream teas.

Fab little walk around the Dam. I agree with people who say the paths aren't well looked after, but there's a path that's easy to follow and without too many obstacles so it's absolutely fine. There's a pub which normally has an ice cream van stationed nearby and a cafe half way around. Both nice to visit if you want to make an afternoon out of it.

I have walked around the Dam when it's been wet previously, and it can get muddy in parts so my tip is to wear suitable shoes for this.

All in all, a great place for a stroll with your family, partner or dog but watch the weather and don't be afraid of a few overgrown plants.

Carr Mill Dam is a pleasant stroll round it, although it is true to say that the paths are not well looked after. At least at one end there is a Pub & at the other there is a Bridge which I do believe the locals call the 7 Arches. Paths do lead off it. Carr Mill Dam is a bit noisy when it is used for Power Boat Racing
