“Great value for money”
Reviewed 15 January 2014

We try to use Premier Inns where we can as they are generally of a reliable standard. Rooms are always very clean, if a little basic. But they give you everything you need for a quick stay. One review said it was tired and in need of refurbishment, but our room was fine. This particular one isn't in the best location but, for us, it was very convenient. However, for the first time we had to test Premier Inn's Good Night's Sleep guarantee. This was due to the couple in the room above us having a row at full blast for an hour and a half until after midnight. At 6.00am they started practising their morris dancing - at least I assume that's what it was - and the ceiling shook. The receptionist couldn't have been more apologetic when I told her and I got my refund straightaway. What's a shame is that isn't the fault of the hotel, just inconsiderate guests. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The second night we stayed there you could have heard a pin drop.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room at the back of the hotel which overlooked a lack and was away from the main road...

Stayed at Premier Inn for 4 nights whilst visiting family for Xmas. Very convenient location - walking distance to mother-in-laws.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
With 2 mobiles, iPads etc to charge it was surprising that there is only 1 spare socket. So unless you plan to unplug the TV I suggest you bring a multi-plug adaptor

This is a basic hotel, we used it when staying with my mum for a Christmas break, teenagers were left at Grannies.
We had a quiet, exceptionally clean room overlooking the water. The room had tea and coffee making facilities but I would take your own tea and coffee as it's v limited. Clean towels and beds made everyday. We ordered a newspaper which didn't arrive and later we thought maybe we should have picked it up at reception? Special mention for Angela who was delightful. We would stay again, but agree a lick of paint would help it up a notch. As I say it's very good for the price as an extra bedroom

The staff make up for what is a very tired hotel, needing a full face-lift and refurbishment.
The reception staff are welcoming and ready to assist you with any question or problems - we had none, or any other issue when staying.
Great location for our purposes, very easy access from A580.

Room Tip: Request a lake side room for quiet.

I am originally from St.Helens (Just round the corner from this hotel) but now reside in Middlesbrough. Visiting for a family party we decided to stay in this hotel at £29 for the night we werent expecting the Ritz! I have got to admit I was very happy. Staff were very friendly and polite. The bed was HUGE and very very comfortable. Our room was decorated lovely and had all the mod cons. I agree with the below comments in that the rest of the hotel needs abit of a re-vamp. Room also overlook Carr Mill Damn - bringing back drunken memorys of being a teenager in St.Helens!! I would recommend.
