Good Pools and modern clean rooms

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Feb 2017
Swimming pools are excellent, the rooms are clean and well lit.The beach area is poor.
After checking in we found a number of minor items that needed attention, and all bar the poor wifi in the room were rectified very quickly ( Room safe not reset, Non flushing WC, No Tea Bags)
The restaurant at Sand Bar does not serve lunch, (the adjoining Solea hotel serves lunch). Breakfast at Sand Bar is OK, reasonable choice for all tastes. Dinner is also ok and reasonably priced for a resort hotel.
Lunch at Solea a little expensive and very slow service, Prawn and Mango salad delicious. Cocktails well priced
If using the infinity pool at adjoining Solea watch out for the sudden change of depth which along with the steps is not clearly marked. The pool attendents are much less attentive than the excellent attendents at Sand Bar
Date of stay: February 2017
Room Tip: The location is quiet, the large Korean tourist contingent less so during our visit

This was the last hotel we visited at the end of a month long trip in the Philippines and by far the worst of our stay.
We were expecting a chilled beach resort with good amenities but this couldn't be further from the truth.
Room- quite good, spacious, bright and clean but sadly that was the only positive. There is no beach, just a construction site where I can only assume they are attempting to create a man made beach.

Food- "Waves" restaurant is terrible and hugely over priced. The breakfast was all covered in flies with some of the worst selection of food I have ever seen. We ate lunch in the Earth restaurant at the Solea which was better but service was extremely slow.

Location- the two hotels are in the middle of no where with no other food alternatives nearby. Also, no taxi drivers know where the hotel is so if you do venture about 20-30 mins outside of the hotel in search of some life. Also if you want a taxi to go anywhere, be prepared to wait half an hour as no taxis service this area regularly.

Service- in general, most of the staff seem bored and uninterested with very little awareness or appreciation for customer service.

We ended up paying for day passes at the Movenpick resort for the day and the two resorts couldn't be further apart. We were only day guests at Movenpick but the staff could not do enough for us. They were extremely helpful, attentive and regularly asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything. We were never asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything at the best western. The hotel has a very long way to go if it wants to compete with other hotels in Mactan, or in the Philippines in general.

We found the staff to be extremely helpful. Always polite and willing to help in any way that could. My wife fell sick whist in Cebu, when we reported it to the hotel, the (hotel) in-house nurse looked after us. The hotel also organised a trip to the doctors. I highly recommend this hotel. Will not hesitate to stay again if ever in Cebu. Thank you for looking after us Cebu Sand Bar Resort.

I can say my overnight stay is not enough , what a great water pool facilities, scenic view, top and high end furniture and fixture designs, salt water lagoon, kayak was a plus, and most importantly the smiling and hospitable staff special thanks to their beautiful and charming Sales Manager Rachelle for doing an ocular on their newly luxurious looking Solea Resort felt really like in Las Vegas during night time for sure soon that resort would become one of the famous destination in Cebu will recommend to my friends and clients.Thank you Sand Bar staff from housekeeping to reception.

Room tip: choose a room on third and up floor facing the sea if you love to wake up in a beautiful scenery.

Modern hotel with big rooms, food is not on the level of *** because nearly every day was a leck of something, they charged me 60 dollars for a gala dinner I never booked and I could not visited, the hotel is directly seeside, but there is no really beach so they made an artificial beach with a salt water pool, the staff is really very helpful especially the poolboys and the waiters, neighborhod is very friendly, it makes sense to visite the village by bike taxi, the hotel also tried to sell your island hoppings and other leisure activities - do not book it, go to the operators directly
