I've stayed 3 nights at Randers Hotel and I liked it.
The building is old, but the rooms are renovated and are quite comfortable. The WC is small, but enough.
There is free wi-fi at a decent speed in all hotel (better at the reception).
The breakfast is decent, although is lacks some fresh food and the coffee is not good at all.

First stage is to enter in a tricky garage. Afterward, you welcome by friendly people.
Wifi is free and easy to connect. The room is simple and breakfast is Ok.
TV channels limited. If you are alone, you can be really alone.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and I have never been disapointed. It is old fashion and that what I like. The breakfast is always very good and with a lot of different Danish specialities. The hotel is located in the city center and if you get the room on the street side, you can have some noice during Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The noice is coming from young people going to and from the discoteques.

An old hotel from 1885 i think in the middle of Randers centre. Restaurants and shops just outside the hotel. Treet outside is only for walking, so no traffic. Peaceful and nice :-)
Breakfast is varied and good and the service was excellent. A very nice hotel.

Visiting 17 cities in Northern Europe in 22 Days is not easy. However, my first stop was here in Randers. The first thing I had to do was enter the Hotel. The revolving doors into reception proved to be a little difficult to negotiate with a large suitcase and rucksack.

However, the first impression of the Hotel was fantastic...

It really was like stepping back in time. The Hotel decor is from the early 20th Century and the design and architecture of the interior is fascinating. No cold square rooms here. Step into reception and you have a winding staircase to the right and the entrance to the attached cafe to the left.

The ancient Lift is up a few steps on the right and contains a comfortable bench for the long journey to the 3rd floor!

When I opened the door to my room, I was amazed by the size of the rooms. A small reception area leads into the Bathroom straight ahead, and the Bedroom/Lounge to the right.

Yes the plumbing was fairly old and the stand alone bath and double sinks were impressive if only for the amount of marble it must have taken to make them, but the size of the bathroom was the most striking. I could have parked a couple of family cars in there and still had to walk to the window!!

The Bedroom was even bigger with a comfortable bed and a seating area to relax in.
My one and only critisism of the room is that there is no kettle or complimentary coffee/tea/water and biscuits.....

Breakfast the next morning was the usual continental style breakfast but in a Victorian room that could house 50 people comfortably and a Piano to boot...

On the way out of the Hotel, I got stuck i. the revolving doors!!

Overall, I would strongly recommend this Hotel...

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your kind review. It is much appreciated.
If one would like to book one of our historic rooms, please ask the staff for one of our "antique" rooms.

Kind regards, Reception

This is a hotel steeped in tradition, with the charm of old world decoration and architecture, and also some of the disadvantages of veteran buildings. It's beautifully centrally situated, which does mean that early morning city rubbish collection can prove an effective alarm clock, and some rooms are large and opulent, whilst others are small and poky. My bathroom sadly seemed to be at the end a very long pipe run for the hot water - the shower took an age to warm up, and never really reached a temperature much above mildly tepid. Breakfast was a deeply uninspiring affair, poorly stocked, and not terribly well tended, but the room itself was eye catchingly impressive, as were several other public rooms. The staff were multi-lingual, and very friendly and helpful. So not for business types, or the faint hearted, but characterful and individual.

The last review stated that arriving to this hotel was like walking into a time warp. I couldn't agree more. I stayed at the hotel in 1997. Coming back here in 2013 actually nothing had changed. The reception and the rooms looked excactly the same. Only addition is a quite nicely designed new cafe, just adjacent to to the reception. The reception itself has a feel of early 20th. century, which is quite charming, and the staff is friendly.

Except for a flat screen TV the decor in the rooms is late 1970'es or early 1980's, and even though it could be charming, it is also in need up an update. That especially goes for the bathrooms.

The breakfast buffet is above average, but served in a typical badly lit room.

All in all a 3 to 3½ star experience.
