Dancamps Kolding

The combination Billund (Legoland) and on the route to Sweden ensured that we have chosen to stay at this site. Kolding is also an important and previously been.

We stayed in one of the cottages (wooden tent), they called it a cabin. Our first reaction was a different expectation. Broader and more modern. Before arriving and seeing the cabin the house layout was unclear. For the price, in Denmark, and some people did some old-fashioned. In itself, it was clean, but space is limited. We are with 5 persons and (including 3 young children), so just fitted. It had broader liked. It could.

We had a private toilet and shower room, but cramped. Shower curtain could best be renewed and another system. Just a gnome house. At least 1.76 cm make do on the sofa bed. All beds too short anyway for someone of 1.88. The twins in the only two real beds and another child on the open loft (niche above kitchen and bathroom). This was funny and stayed at this property also advance a reason for choice. In each case there was a freezer which is not often. Cooking was best and everything worked.

However, the fridge heated the house from the inside during the day, when everything was closed for a long visit to Legoland, which after arriving it took 2 hours before the cabin only had cooled. We slept at night with the door open. Night was not very cold. A good positive point is the presence of sufficient trampolines for the kids. Also the reception is nice and helpfull. Late arrival is solved by a night watch.

Too bad that the windows had no curtains at the height of the ridge. The attic also had not, then what is very annoying in the morning. Also used is the site of a fairly busy road with at night too much traffic too close. At least three supermarkets are within one mile of the site and on this road, which leads to central Kolding. All in all we survived and would have liked to come back, but with 2 or 3 people. Easy to find the way from the highway by the away.

Room Tip: Visit Koldinghus (Castle) Also worth. Subtract 3 hours for sure, and free parking is available.

A good alternative for families who’re not too keen on camping in a tent, but still want the freedom to cook your own food and relax outside in the evening after the kids have gone to sleep. One of the advantages with this campsite is free tickets to the aqua dome Slottsøbade only 2 km away for every two night’s stay. The closeness to Kolding city and to Billund and Legoland is also good. Playgrounds on the site were exciting for our kids (below 7), but there were no special activities for older kids.
Negative point: in the cottage where we stayed it got very hot at the top floor in the evenings.
One huge roof window that couldn’t be opened made it very difficult for the children who should sleep up there after a warm and sunny day.
The former guests hadn’t bothered cleaning much, and we spent at least one extra hour cleaning before we could leave.
