Wonderful hotel in early 20th century Palais. Near the water, quiet, beautiful surroundings, large, superbe rooms and delicious food. Nice conference rooms with good amenities as coffee, tea, snacks and fresh food available all the time. Both breakfast and lunch buffets included a variety of delicious, homemade specialties. Nothing to criticize!

We stayed at the hotel from 16-20Aug for our trip to Kolding and mustcsay the hotels location is breathtaking. The hotel is on a fjord(water body) and is stunning.Hard to imagine it was avhospital once.
The premises are huge though slightly away from the main city about 10min.The staff friendly, rooms clean and breakfast wholesome. We ate twice for dinner too though not much choice aof menu but the portions are huge.
Our son loved fishing at the jetty as crabs and jellyfish are in abundance, you can swim in the fjord, the play area has swings, football n nets, cycles for those who want to explore and indoir swimming pool.
The rooms are in the main building as well as annexe which is like 3-4 min walk....we stayed in the main building and were very thrilled.
The only negatives i can think are the hotel is little far from main city according to Kolding standards, the rooms got stuffy during two days as it was very hot and there are no a/cs and food nenu is limited.
Inspite of this the hotel in 4.9 on 5 for us.
We really did enjoy here.

Room Tip: Try and get rooms in main building with fjord view

Mange hilsner Hanne Nedergaard

Stayed here on way back to UK from Copenhagen.
The hotel is in a stunning location, looking out across the lake.
We stayed in a family room in the annexe which is fine. Not the beautiful main building but clean, modern and a decent size.
We ate in the bar restauramt as opposed to the gourmet restaurant, the service was terrible.
We were seated and then had to wait twenty minutes before i got up and asked if someone could take our order, i mean....come on, the staff in any half decent eaterie would take a drinks order at least, they weren't busy either! Couldn't care less attitude by the two staff members we encountered.Shame because the food we ate was really good.

We stopped here overnight on the way back to Hamburg after visitng Legoland about 50 minutes away. The grounds are beautiful with a lovely back lawn leading down to the water. The exterior and common areas are quite handsome and meticulously maintained. The room was enormous, very clean, and furnished in a simple but comfortable style. The bathroom is quiet large. The immediate area is quiet and relaxing. The indoor pool and spa area is very attractive. The breakfast is out of this world - delicious fresh fruits, breads, cheeses and meats, plus eggs, potatoes, sausages, etc, and several Danish specialties we were excited to try. The assortment of jams alone was worth the visit! The hotel was not crowded when we were there, and I got the impression it's largely a business hotel, but our family of three felt very welcome, and would have loved to stay longer.

Hotel Koldingfjord is, as the name implies, right on the banks of the beautiful Kolding Fiord. The hotel is an old sanitarium for children with tuberculosis the old buildings are grand with the sweeping curved terraces and lawn facing the fiord. A steady stream of boats makes for a constantly changing view.
We stayed in one of the annexes, Skovly, high on the hillside next to the main buildings. With both an elevator and stairs up the hill, it was very easy and convenient to get there. Of course you can also drive right up there. This looked like the old hospital wing, nicely renovated and with a tastefully done extension.
Our room was large, clean and very comfortable, as was the bed. We had two nights of great sleeps looking out on the forest and no sounds other than the birds. There was a large screen TV (which we didn't turn on), free internet, coffee, tea, hot chocolate as well as a fully stocked minibar.
A full breakfast was included in the very reasonable price. The food was fresh, delicious and healthy. On the second day we wanted to bring my mother for brunch for her birthday, and when we asked, we were told of course, just bring her - and it cost nothing extra. That is service. The breakfast was served in the lower restaurant facing the water and great view. Couldn't ask for better.
I highly recommend this first class, very reasonably priced hotel and I will go again.

Booked an executive room, but on arrival it turned out that Expedia had made a mistake and the room was not available (not the hotel's fault). However I was quickly assigned another nice room in the main building, and as compensation the hotel offered dinner on the house. This was very professionally handled by the friendly reception staff. On entering the room I found not only it had an even better view of the water, but also a box of chocolates on the bed with an additional personal greeting from the manager on duty with her apologies! Here is truly a sense of professionalism that extend all the way through every employee, and makes you feel taken good care of, even when something fails.
As for the hotel itself, I guess the pictures says it all:It has a grandiose look and feel everywhere you go, and the location next to the Koldingfjord canal is truly breathtaking, one of the top-10 spots in Denmark.
The free dinner was indeed a full-service gourmet dinner in the regular restaurant, with wine and everything included. Wince cellars looked impressive, as did the menu.
All areas seem meticulously maintained and spotlessly clean.
I can only give Hotel Koldingfjord my highest recommendations.

Stayed here twice on way to and back from Sweden.
The setting is wonderful, the hotel sits gracefully overlooking the fjord.
The hotel is very majestic looking, and the grounds are very peaceful and surrounded by woods.
The price is good considering the size of the family rooms.
There is an annexe that is newish were some of the family rooms are, this is not an issue.
Breakfast is extensive and pretty good, food is ok and reasonable in terms of price.
Pool area nice, but a little too cold!
Free parking and WiFi.
Good for families and pretty family friendly overall.
The tranquil setting means there are no shops etc nearby, so don't expect to stroll down to get something to eat!

Overall my kids loved it as will those who appreciate a decent setting environmentally.
