What an original concept - tracing the evolution of our relationship with the horse - not just racing. The earlier displays by far the most interesting - then I got bored with the racing part. Did not go to the display but would have been worth seeing.

Apart from the near-by Chateau which is stunning, to any one with an interest in horses, if in the area of Chantilly, this museum should not be missed. There is a vast amount of information about working, war, race horses etc. The reason for only giving a very good rating the live show although good to watch for a while the commentary was totally in French, most, whose French was not up to it left half way through.

Who knew a horse museum could be so interesting? We visited because we were there, but we really had a great time. Unfortunately, we missed the horse show, but we were able to spend plenty of time going through all of the exhibits. Very interesting!

The museum, recently refurbished with a generous donation by HH the Aga Khan, is housed in the old stables of the Chateau de Chantilly and is dedicated to all things horse. It curated with a lot of love to detail and shows some impressive exhibits and pieces of art. The stables themselves house horses, and the very dedicated staff puts on a "Spectacle" and separate private presentations. Overall, they go out of their way to make the hunting and racehorse training tradition of Chantilly come alive and infect you with their enthusiasm for their horses.

Having been on a sponsored trip, I am not completely sure, but I overheard, that admission is free, but donations are welcome and purchases from the giftshop are welcome.
