“Right on the beach - great indoor pool !”
Reviewed 22 June 2011

IBIS Le Touquet
Stayed one night here prior to taking the Channel Tunnel back to the UK ( it’s an easy 45 minute drive to the tunnel ) Hotel is built right on the edge of the beach at Le Touquet and the view from our room & balcony which was on the lower level was just sand and sea – could not see anything else to the left or right. Parking at the hotel is plentiful and the rooms are fine but this looks like one of the older IBIS properties and also gets a fair bit of “ weathering” due to its beach side location.
There is a spa attached to the hotel and is shared with the Novotel next door. Think a lot of guests had come for spa stays as there were lots of people wandering around in spa dressing gowns, even at breakfast in the restaurant. We used the huge heated indoor seawater pool for a long swim. Absolutely terrific as you are much more buoyant in the salty water and it was lovely and warm – very relaxing and a must do if you stay here. The pool is in the pyramid shaped section in one of the attached pictures and looks out directly onto the beach.
We ate dinner in the restaurant, overlooking the sea, and had a good meal for two with wine for 50 euros.Weather was poor so didn’t want to explore Le Touquet town for other options. Looks like there are plenty of places to dine 5 minutes drive down the seafront. Breakfast was fine and nice to sit directly overlooking the beach.
Room was prepaid and got a good deal of 86 euros bed and breakfast for two. We would return perhaps for a short 2 day break, maybe in the winter months, just to take in the bracing seaside air and use the great pool.

We stayed at this Ibis after spending 3 nights in other Ibis Hotels in Albert, Laval and Falaise, all of which were much friendlier and cheaper. We were booked in by a young male receptionist with an attitude problem. Walked miles to our room along a long basement corridor to a room with a view looking at a grass bank and a hedge. There did not seem as much choice on the menu which was also more expensive than the other places we had stayed. Included 3 choices of Welsh Rarebit !

When we left the same receptionist asked us to pay for breakfast which turned out to be correct but was very strange as we had made all 4 bookings to include breakfast and paid for online. All the other hotels were fully paid for except this one.

All in all not a very welcoming hotel.

Room Tip: Book a sea view or you finish up in dungeon.

Selected this hotel for its location to "chill out" for a while after the classic car run in Laon and the 8 hour plus trip home in a 40 year old sports car.
We had a sea view with balcony room and it did not disappoint. The Spa facilities and pool were all to hand. Room was comfortable, although odd parts of the hotel were suffering from wear as this hotel is literally on the beach it is perhaps to be expected, the Continental breakfast was well presented and staff kept it well stocked up during the service period.
A very pleasant flat walk into town with excellent restaurants.
If we stay in this area again this hotel will be on the list of choices.

Great spot, economical perch right on the beach with breathtaking views. Quiet, relaxing, no-fuss good night's sleep in a simple room with good facilities, everything in working order. Hotel is a ten minute nice walk down to the town. Staff were efficient and friendly.

We arranged to stay overnight at the Ibis Thalassa Le Touquet on a Christmas shopping trip. We travelled from England by Eurotunnel and when we arrived in France, it was to dreadful weather - rain, gale force winds, hail, sleet, thunder and lightning. We drove to Le Touquet and checked into what appeared to be a lovely hotel in an idyllic location right on the beach. Our room was at beach level, one level below the reception. On arrival in the room I immediately saw that the driving wind was allowing the rain to run down the inside walls below the windows and the carpet was soaking down one side of the bed to about a metre out from the wall. I returned to the reception and complained and was relocated to a room just down the hall. This room was in the same state. I phoned reception to complain and I was basically told that I could "like it or lump it". I was really unhappy at having to sleep in a room with the heating turned to full and the water running down the wall. I went to reception and told them that if they couldn't find me a dry room I would leave. I was immediately handed a key for a room on the same level as the reception which fortunately was completely dry so we were able to move.
This is a great hotel but only if the weather is good. I have never been in a hotel where I was expected to sleep in a room where the water was running down the walls and if I stepped out of bed it would have been into a veritable lake. The food in the restaurant was good, if a little cool for my liking and there was a breakfast fit for a king. Unfortunately, the management need to sort out the problem of the ill-fitting windows before I would return there.
I may not have had my grievance sorted in a satisfactory manner if I had not been able to speak French quite fluently, so beware!
