“Good value hotel”
Reviewed 16 September 2013

Within 5 minutes walk of the beach and town centre with its restaurants. Very comfortable and clean rooms. We had 3 rooms, 2 of them were quite basic and small, but were a fair bit cheaper. Easy parking around the back of the hotel, although watch out for the local market days. Cosy bar for a drink later in the evening. The only downside would be if you couldn't manage the stairs, as the lift was not always available.

Room Tip: Try and get one of the premier rooms.

We've just stayed here for one night on the way home. Perfect central location in a small and friendly hotel. The room was small but clean and comfortable with a great bathroom and lovely breakfast.
You step out of the hotel straight onto the market and five minutes from the beach and best restaurants.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. Will def. be back.

We've just returned from Le Touquet (August 2013) and a stay at the Be Cottage. We stayed in room 1 which overlooked the street and we did mention to reception that we were worried about noise, but were assured that rue Jean Monnet was a quiet street. Whilst it was certainly quieter than a lot of other streets nearby, the sound echoed through the covered market which was literally next door and as it was hot, we had to keep the windows open. So, I really didn't sleep very well at all, particularly as all the kids gather there in the evenings to drink and sing and play music. On market day as well, they set up underneath our hotel room from I think around 6am, so again, NO SLEEP!! However, the hotel is in a good location right in the centre of town and very near to the buzz. The staff seemed very nice and the hotel room was compact, but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom a good size. Breakfast was adequate, the usual breads, fruit, cheeses, etc with a tea/coffee machine. If we go back to Le Touquet, we would probably go self catering to make use of all the lovely produce on sale in the shops and market. If you want a hotel smack bang in the middle of Le Touquet, then look no further. However, next time we would prefer to stay a little further out of town!!

the rooms were clean and comfortable. One room was very, very small. The hotel was handy for the beach, the shops, the restaurants. The breakfast was very expensive for the choice available. We would have given a much better review but the holiday was spoilt. On our first day an item of jewellry went missing from my room while we were out at the beach. The reception staff who had been speaking very good english suddenly couldn't understand any english what so ever! Their only comment was "c'est impossible". Eventually they added the comment "its not our responsibility". Whilst aware that the items left in the room are not their responsibility, i did expect a bit more assistance from the staff rather than denial. After that, the service was poor. Toilet rolls not replaced, tea/coffee not replenished. Bin not emptied. We were charged for breakfasts we did not have. I would return to le touquet but not to this hotel.

Unfortunately we were allocated a bedroom in an annex which turned out to be behind the hotel. The room was small with a glass door but no windows. Fortunately we were only booked in for one night. We arrived at 2pm to be told no rooms are available until after 3pm. Systems take over from customer service, the receptionist didn't even check whether the room was free. Breakfast was very good.
It's a shame that the staff are not more customer friendly because the hotel is in a good position.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is in the main hotel.

Stayed here for 1 night recently and really enjoyed the experience. We were in one of the small rooms, which for more than 1 or 2 nights could be a little too small. The bathroom was well appointed and very clean. The staff at the hotel were charming and helpful. Though a little goey price-wise I would advise you to pay the 20 euros for secure parking as 3 days a week the market swallows up the parking bays on the street. In terms of location its perfect as it keeps you slightly out of the centre. This is a nice, reasonably priced boutique style hotel that is worth checking out.

We booked a last minute trip to Le Touquet and thought we would try a different hotel. We have stayed in quite few different hotels over the years and we know Le Touquet well. To be honest my stay was not highly noteworthy either way but as the hotel was average and more than a little over priced for the bank holiday weekend. What prompted me to take the time to write this was when I read over some of the gushing, unbelieveable reviews. I thought I should add some balance.

It was priced similar to the Mercury Grand and I thought it might be better than it was. The room pictures are hugely flattering as the rooms are okay but definitely on the compact side and furnished on a low-scale budget.

Our crossing was later than usual and the booking confirmation said to call the hotel if we would be late. I called and was given a code for the front door to enter and our room was to be left open for us. We arrived just after 10.00 p.m. and used the access code to enter the building. The place was like the Marie Celeste. The staff had done a bunk. Reception was shuttered off.
Our room was on the top floor so we found the lift and pressed the top floor button ... nothing happened. We eventually saw a sign saying that they turn the lift off after 10.00 p.m. ! So we had to hike up the stairs (helps keep us fit I suppose). We used the lift the next day and it was one of those lifts where the moving wall is part of the compartment. A bit risky if you are an octopus with itchy leg syndrome as you would be likely to lose a leg or two on the way. The lift also had an interesting button feature. Press the button the lift moves. Take your finger off and you stop. No doubt they did not have anything more advanced in 1925.
We found our room and it was really okay.
Being a security aware person I noted that our room keys had a semi-permanent sticker with the external front door access code on it. It looked as if it had been on the card for a long while. I also noticed that some room doors had signs of being 'forced' open or at least someone had tried very hard.
Breakfast was pretty well done in the ground floor breakfast room.
In summary this is an okay hotel. Be careful about parking though if next day is market day (Saturday and Thursday also I think). The price is fair and the hotel is within a short walk for the town centre and the market is on the doorstop. I felt a tad uncomfortable being on the top floor re fire exit considerations and the security exposure needs to be addressed.
