“Good value, good location to explore the city”
Reviewed 21 January 2011

The hotel is situated on the Peripherique, 5 min away from two of the stops of line 7 of the metro and therefore a very good starting point to explore Paris which was our idea. Brand new shopping center at 5-10 minutes walking distance.
The rooms are small size but if you just spend the nights in the hotel it's OK. Big advantage is the free WiFi. Comfortable bed, bathroom of fair size (separate room and not integrated as in other hotels of this type), everyday cleaning and change of towels etc.. Good breakfast (especially the coffee).
If you don't want to spend too much money on the accommodation while discovering Paris, this hotel is recommended. All basic needs will be covered, no more no less.

The only nice thing was its breakfast.
DANGEROUS when a fire will break out. Windows locked and cannot be opened.
Difficult, even impossible to enter when in a wheelchair.
VERY small rooms with a toilet smell when switching on heater/ (airco??)
Grumpy personel.
Far from Metro station 400-500 mtr.

NEVER AGAIN SUCH A HOTEL.

I've stayed there with my collegues for a few nights, the rooms were quiet nice, clean and comportable and the shower in the room was amaizing. The staff was helpful, the only negative thing that it is difficult to find the hotel and a parking place.

I just stayed for one night in this crappy place and it's all I can take. The window handle is not even there, leaving me unable to open the window and frying in the heat. The bathroom is about as small as an iron maiden, and the water you bathe with leaks onto the hotel room floor. There are transparent holes in the bathroom door as well, letting your roommate look at you while you bathe as well. Unless you're a couple with a voyeuristic streak, I highly doubt you'd enjoy this very much.

We were a little apprehensive after reading the reviews here, but on a budget driving trip, group of 3 adults and 3 teens, it was difficult to find an affordable hotel near Paris close to public transportation (we definitely did not want to drive in Paris) for 3 nights. As mentioned by another reviewer, this hotel is the one next to the Novotel; the other ETAP a few blocks away appeared to be located in a very dodgy area, I was really worried when we passed that one looking for this hotel. Have no complaints at all with the ETAP Porte d'Italie -- there was parking in the underground garage for a reasonable fee, rooms were the standard ETAP configuration (sleep 3 persons), we found the bathroom to be better than another ETAP we stayed in (another town), everything was clean, and the place was pretty secure (key required to get into the building and the garage). We did not have breakfast, better choice of food can be found elsewhere. The location is great, walking distance to the metro and lots of restaurants nearby. We had dinner twice in the Asian cafe near the metro station that served cheap but very good Laotian, Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese food.

i stayed here on a school trip and so shared my room with 2 other friends. the first two nights were fine and quiet and although it is far out from paris, i was with a group so felt safer about travelling around later (if i had been by myself the area is not a place i'd like to be alone). however the staff were not that friendly and could have helped out more. On the third and last night i came back to find my money stolen. it ruined the trip. the hotel, after saying they could reimburse me, didnt reply to any emails (after the first) only to say they'd 'interviewed' the staff present in the room that day (cleaner and house staff?) and that they did not 'seem' guilty. overall i would not recommend it, and if so, only for a cheap one-night stay over, and keep your belongings on you. it'll probably be safer than in the room based on my experience and other people's reviews.

The room itself wasn't too bad (though I did get locked in the bathroom), but it was dirty and incredibly smoky. Maybe I'm used to hotels that are non-smoking, but it was so bad the hallways were hazy, my clothes constantly smelled of smoke and I couldn't wear my contacts. It's near a Metro stop (though on the outskirts of the city), so it is pretty easy to get around. The breakfast consisted of bread, cereal, watery orange juice and terrible coffee (the only time I've ever had bad coffee in Paris!). It may not have been too bad if it hadn't been for the cigarette smoke.
