“Lovely setting, great food”
Reviewed 13 September 2011

Wonderful atmosphere and setting and a perfect base for exploring the area or just doing nothing. The swimming pool is particularly lovely and perfect for both children and adults with mobility problems. Dinner seemed quite expensive but included lots of their own wine and thus turned out to be good value, as well as excellent quality.

Room Tip: The "appartments" vary considerably in lay out and as regards accessibility. If you have a...

We booked this through on-line research and internet recommendations and on arrival realise we'd stumbled across the most perfect establishment for what was one of our best holidays. The most welcoming wonderful staff and our room was huge - rustic contemporary style design, extremely tasteful. My favourite part of the evening was coming down for a pre-dinner sundowner (aperol) in the terrace with delicious brushcetta, olives etc. Eating at the Masseria almost spoils eating out as the food is so divine. Course after sumptuous course and the house wine ordered by carafe proved a fantastic compliment. Owner Alessandro (I think that was his name) was the most gentle natured, helfpul man who loves to stop and chat to ensure his guests are having a good stay. Chilling by the gorgeous pool setting was peaceful and relaxing. I would recommend to anyone and met people who have come back again and again. The only negative is that you do miss the road sign that directly loops round to get to the villa, we spent ages in one spot trying to work it out however once there all worries, work etc are forgetten!

This mini fortified village on the outskirst of Fasano certainly looks the part., our room in the tower had a basic charm that took a few minutes to appreciate but once you relaxed into the environment it was lovely.

The food cooked by the flamboyant Pepino was awesome though its worth checking the daily guide by the door to see what is going to be served that night. He was very helpful and accomodating for a vegetarian wife !

The steam room and indoor pool was lovely but if you didn't go on the "free" monday would be very expensive at e20 per person. The outside pool was lovely.

All the staff who worked here were fantastic, friendly and really helpful.

Borgo San Marco totally lived up to expectations of a pastoral Italian holiday.
I traveled with my husband and two young children (3 and 1yrs) and we were made to feel totally at home by the genuine and warm staff. Vittorio, Mavi, Lena, Julia and Pino the chef were all exemplary and nothing was too much trouble. We all felt we were visiting at the home of a bountiful Italian mama rather than guests at a paying hotel.
The architecture and design were simple, practical and in the case of the swimming pool perfect. As any parent who still would like to retain a sense of their former selves post children can tell you, there is nothing you crave more than a family friendly hotel with flair and elan. Borgo San Marco has this in spades and isn't so high end or preciously decorated that you constantly worry that the children might break things.
The cooking was excellent and there are plenty of opportunities nearby if you don't want to eat in. (I would try and avoid lunchtimes as I felt though the meals were good they were overpriced). I highly recommend a trip for dinner in Cisternino to sample the Carne Al Forno - go to one of the many butchers, choose your cuts and wait in a nearby dining room while they grill it and bring it to you.
BSM also has a wonderful spa and massage service - Eleana the masseuse is beyond talented and we received some of the best treatments I've had under her healing hands.
All told it was a fantastically restful fortnight. The food was plentiful, the sunshine bright and the reception at Borgo San Marco even warmer.

Great little Masseria - brilliant service and seriously tasty food. Although you feel like you are going off the beaten track to get to the Masseria, when you get through the gates and into the courtyard, it is its own little piece of Italian charm -- the rooms have lots of Italian charm and an amazing sense of Luxury for the price of a nights stay. The pool area is family friendly and secluded. One down side is that it is quite close to the main road which means you can sometimes hear the cars, but when the sun is shining, the food so beautiful and the Italian charm oozing it pales into insignificance.
