“Not much life”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

It's an area of cobbled streets, old stone buildings, chimney pots with nests on them, etc, and it's pretty in a theme-park-ish sort of way. The trouble is that there's practically nothing in the way of normal life - it's all but impossible to find an ordinary bar, for instance, and everyone else you see looks like another tourist - and you quickly get tired of it. By far the most interesting thing there is the museum. See separate review.

“Can't and shouldn't miss it!”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

From it's grand entrance in the Plaza Mayor (main square) of Caceres, you are presented with three winding streets, almost lanes to go down and all are beautiful. The ancient buildings are stunning and the churches are all very beautiful. If you speak Spanish, there are some informative plaques here and there on the walls, which are very interesting. And the old town is full of bars and cafes - the perfect place to spend an afternoon

This city is amazing. The "casco antiguo" just blew up my mind, specially at night. Very well kept. Anywhere you look at is special.

“Lovely old town.”

Nice to wonder around, but we preferred nearby Trujillo for atmosphere. Very much worth at least a days visit.
