“Close to historic center”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2012

This modern hotel is ideal for those visiting the historic center of Caceres as it is only a short walk away. Well fitted comfortable room with wi-fi, tv and a/c all working ok. There are also loads of places to eat in the main plaza and many more spread around the city. We found the staff helpful and friendly. The hotel also has its own secure underground parking, via a lift which is quite unusual. The historic center itself is quite large and many of the buildings have been restored well. Very interesting city, well worth a visit, recommended.

Although the location is great for exploring the old city, our room was very small and faced the front street which is busy with traffic throughout the day and well into the early hours of the morning. The air conditioning didn't work....a big problem when you can't open the windows due to the noise. We had a problem with the WiFi in our room, but the hotel quickly responded and dispatched a technician who installed a new unit in our room within a few hours. Service in the lobby bar was very poor and our server (the only one working) disappeared immediately after pouring our drinks - we had to go to the check-in desk to ask for our bill. Underground parking was spacious, which was one of the few positives about this hotel. Your best bet is to ask for a room that doesn't face the front street.

We stayed 1 night at the AH and had a very good experience. This hotel is very modern and chic. I loved the decor throughout the hotel. The rooms are spacious and large (for European standards). The bed was comfortable which was important for us as we walked a lot of miles the day we were in Caceres. Our room was tastefully decorated. A big plus is that the hotel is walking distance to the beautiful historical old town. There is an underground car park as well. I would recommend this hotel!

This modern hotel is situated, like most hotels in Caceres, on the fringes of the old city. Although we'd carefully downloaded directions, a blocked street frustrated our attempts to reach it by car. We tried phoning the hotel but the receptionist couldn't understand our English. Instead we found a parking garage close by. Checking in was quick and easy if a bit formal. The receptionists get by in English although they're not exactly fluent. The reception area is large and includes a lounge and bar. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean and comfortable but the air conditioning merely circulated the air. One hopes that it works during the summer. Room TV offered about 15 stations, all of them in Spanish. Free wifi works well although logging on can take some time. We asked for and got a quiet room with firm beds. Buffet breakfast was adequate in attractive dining room with linen table cloths.

This hotel is quite new and very modern. It does not have much charm or character, but it is a short walk from the Plaza Mayor and the old town. The best thing is the spacious, confortable rooms which are very quiet, at least if you have one facing the courtyard at the back. The roof terrace provides good views of the rooftops and the tovers of the old town. There is bar up there, which was closed when we visited in November, but must be very nice on warm evenings. If you arrive by car, they have a very convenient space right outside the hotel where you can leave the car while you unload and check in. Officially the price for a double room is 140,00€ per night, but much better offers can be found on the internet, through different booking agents. We paid 47€ per night. Breakfast is 10,75€ per person, but if you don't mind leaving the hotel to have breakfast, there are plenty of bars in the area which serve much cheaper breakfasts.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are the most quiet

On a one-way street near the Plaza Mayor (and so also near the old walled town), the AH Agora is a modern hotel in a historic city.

The breakfast buffet is good and there is free wi-fi (you have to get the password from reception) - NB coverage seems a bit patchy, and I found I had to be near the stairwell on the first floor to get a connection.

Finding the hotel by car can be a bit tricky when you first arrive. Because the hotel's on a narrow one-way street I found it difficult to spot - and by the time I did, it was too late to stop and I had to go around the city's one-way system again to make a second appproach. I was using the hotel's underground car park and they valet-parked the car for me when I first arrived, which was helpful as access to the car park is via a car lift and the space is quite tight within the car park itself.

One of the fee hotels in Caceres that is easy to park outside, great for unloading luggage. then the car was moved to the underground, very secure car park. Room was clean and comfortable and very queit. Very close to the old town and restaurants and bars. Breakfast was very good, not a huge buffet but everything we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The internet connection was great and free.
