“Stylish and discreet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

We went to La Carbona after visiting Tio Pepe's bodega. The restaurant wasn't easy to find by car but was worth the trip. The entrance reveals a surprisingly very large room with a central fireplace. We chose to eat fish 'a la plancha', very nicely served. Wine recommendation was excellent. Overall a positively surprising experience and a discreet and stylish ambiance.

“Fine Dining”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014

Firstly an interesting building being an old Bodega so had lots of character. Tables not too close together and welcoming staff. Great menu - We had Foie Gras with pinones, Artichokes with sweetbreads which were both worth having. To follow shoulder ham with potatoes and chestnuts and Pork Sirloin. We did find the pork really good in Spain, much better than the beef. Good bottle of Finca Moncloa red from Gonzales Byass and Pedro Ximenez to finish the meal. . Probably one of our more expensive meals but still value for money for the type of establishment.

Ana kept coming to see if we were having a nice evening and we left with a resouonding kiss on each cheek.

“An Excellent Dining Choice in Jerez”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

We had a very pleasant dinner at this restaurant which we selected based on TripAdvisor reviews. We had good but inexpensive wines and sherries with our meal which included a very good Fois gras terrine, bacalao and braised lamb. The €70 tab was very fair for the high quality of the meal.

“Very well worth seeking out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014

We visited this restaurant because I had read earlier Trip Advisor reviews. We did not book but were welcomed warmly, although it is clearly quite a formal restaurant. It is easy to find using the map after about 10 minutes walk from the square but is a little away from the shops and passing trade.
The service was friendly enough whilst matching the grand nature of the setting in an old bodega and the good quality glassware and place settings.
The food and wine was quite simply wonderful. The meat was excellent and the chef clearly very talented. We would visit again and again if we lived in Spain!

“Great steak”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2014

Second time here for a late steak and chips - delicious. Four of us had fillet and entrecôte steaks with homemade chips and salad, washed down with a very reasonable local red. It's a cavernous but attractive place with attentive staff and fast service. I can see why people like it so much and will hopefully return to sample the full menu. The only downside is that it is a little out of the way and needs a taxi.
