“A Good Place to Stay in Jerez”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

This is a five star hotel, and the room and service came up to that standard. The room had a balcony and we were not overlooked
The only thing that didn't was the restraunt, we are vegitarians, and the menu didn't contain anything we could eat.
So they adapted one of their dish's asperagus and scambled egg.I have cooked better scambled egg myself than we had that night, so it was disappointing.
The breakfast however was very good.

Second time back here for me, my last trip here being August 2006. When reading the reviews you realise that a lot of reviewers perhaps don't often stay in hotels. Before I became a full time musician in 2002 I was selling for IT companies, so I had stayed in hotels - about 200 hotels in over 20+ years - so I'm used to what hotels are like.

I can understand why some of the reviewers might comment that the Hotel Jerez is not quite 5 star - but you have to compare it with whatever else is on offer, rather than some International parity. I know it isn't the Grande in Madrid, or the Hyde Park or the Hilton on Park Lane in London; but in Jerez it's pretty good. The food is excellent, the service is friendly and fast, room service and chamber maids good at their job. Everything I've asked for at this hotel has been met with excellent service.

Make sure when you book you get a room that's how and where you want. Ask the staff, they will help. On this trip the cheapest room rate was 59 Euros and the rooms facing the rear tennis court were 62. I opted for the pool/garden views at 77 - which was about 38 Euros for the two of us - that seems more like three star rate hotel prices. (That tight Spanish economy is really biting!) The breakfast is 15 Euros if you don't include it with your room; so if you forget to include breakfast I suggest you take to the road and walk or bus to town and breakfast there for 5 - 8 Euros.

The hotel is near to some main roads which, while not very busy, can still seem noisy in the morning if like me you leave the patio doors to the balcony open. If you already live in a city you won't notice this at all - but I live in the country where you can hear an owl call a mile away - but I wasn't bothered really.

There is an excellent resturant attached to the hotel and plenty more a 5 minute taxi ride to the centre of town - although in warm weather the walk to town is nice. (The road is lined with orange trees that smelled wonderful at this time of year (March)). In fact Jerez isn't big - you can walk pretty much anywhere from the hotel - town centre is about 15-20 minutes - the train station the same, but different direction - and the airport is a short 15 Euro taxi ride away further out on the same road.

The pool is great in the summer and not too crowded at all. In the sumer of 2006 I never saw more than 8 people in at one time - and it's a big pool.

Summary - good position for visiting Jerez and far enough out to be restful and relaxing - good food, good service. Comfortable rooms. Remember, I've stayed in 200 hotels and now pay my own bills - I think this one is excellent value and quality - but make sure you check for the best room rates on their website - the rate fluctuates with Fiestas, Racing Events, and Horse Fairs, which make the town hugely popular. You might want to avoid the high rate Fiestas.

Room Tip: Tell the staff what you want - they are very helpful and friendly

Ob our travels we stayed at this hotel which was lovely although I did not rate the room that well as we overlooked the Tennis court which was noisey, and also we did not have a balcony Thought the rooms could do with updating, the rooms were not 5*,but they were all very helpful and the food was great. The only thing that I thought was a bit much was having to pay to use the pool, Spa and Sauna costing 12 euros each I think it should of been all in really.
But that is what you expect these days "NOTHING FOR NOTHING!"

Room Tip: Do not have a room round the back where the tennis courts are too noisey

Just dropped into this hotel while on holiday travelling through Spain, and it was a cracker. We were out of season, but all the facilities were on tap. The pool , Spa and restaurant were all good quality, and we had a very relaxing stay.

I would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Over looking the pool would be great with a family.

This hotel is exceptionally dated, it is in a time warp. The staff do their jobs but there are few smiles or effort. The whole place feels as though they work to a 5 star tick list. Yes, you get a robe, a chocolate on your bed at night, a mini bar (of sorts) etc. However, it isn't done in any style, everything is old and ugly, the sound proofing is non existent. You can easily hear conversations in the adjacent rooms.

The outdoor pool looks stunning but is closed from September. Shame, as I believe the Brits and Germans may have used it and given the place a bit more atmosphere. The "spa" looks tiny and not worth 15 Euros for an indoor swim and who is going to pay 16 Euros each for a tacky buffet breakfast when there is a cafe over the road where breakfast cost 6 Euros for two people. I have stayed in much worse, but begrudge it marketing itself as 5 Star, I would still have stayed and enjoyed it more if I hadn't had higher expectations.

All that said it is in a good location for exploring the region and the city, the parking is free and it is definitely a region/city worth exploring. I would possibly go back, but I would know what to expect.

Room Tip: Difficult the pool view is nice, but noisier than the back. However, the back is quite noisy too as...

I have staied at this Hotel several times in the past years and always have enjoied its location and service. However I feel the rooms now need urgent attention from the management because they are really not up to the 5 stars class. The furniture is almost spartan and really outdated, details are down to minimum, pillows are from another age and decoration is quite poor. It is sad to see such a nice hotel fail in these basic details. This establishment is very carismatic and has excellent cuisine. I hope to come back sometime in the future to a renovated Hotel Jerez. This city is wonderful and full of caracter and has lots of interesting places to visit and this Hotel is well situated.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a balcony pool or garden wiew. Best rooms are on the ground floor

We went to the Hotel Jerez with a group of over 30 people last weekend. The experience was OK. The rooms are small, mostly with two single beds. Everything you need is there - but "5 Stars"?? Easy to find, as it is located on the main road. 10 minutes cab ride to the shopping / tapas restaurant area. We also had dinner at the hotel, which was very fine. Nice pool area as well, sufficient and safe parking.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing main street
