Owner description: Our Fundador Wineries, since 1730, the oldest in Jerez, a place full of memories. Its origin dates back to 1730. It is a very special place due to its centennial walls, ancestral columns, and enologic relics, such as the first Fundador barrel signed by King Alfonso XIII, all of which are considered gems of enology.

My wife and very young son and I visited Pedro Domecq today, the oldest sherry house in Jerez the la Frontera, where they make several sherry's and brandy's. It is a beautiful tour, lots of barrels, lots of history, the guide knew her business very well. We are not sherry or brandy people, but we're duly impressed and the Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry is, especially after knowing the process of the making, absolutely worth a second taste. Very generous on the tasting afterwards. Definitely recommendable.

We were 2 couples who were interested in visiting the winery but only one of us was really a sherry person. The visit was well-done; the guide spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable. If I remember rightly, 3 of us paid 8 euros each for the visit plus 2 sherries and 2 brandies to taste each and the 4th paid 10 euros to taste an additional sherry as well. We all enjoyed it very much and thanks to the excellent explanations, each of us discovered what we preferred with the different sherries. In my opinion, the visit was as long as it needed, the price reasonable for what we got and we didn't come away feeling that the visit was too commercialised.

We were shown around the bodega by the head of corporate communications. it is a beautifull building to visit, super for taking pictures of piles of sherry barrels. off course the tour ends with product tasting.

It was great to hear that the Dutch helped invent the Brandy.

thank you for showing me and my wife around.

After a panoramic bus tour of Cadiz we were off to Jerez to taste Sherry. We had no idea that Harvey's Bristol Cream came from this region nor that the entire company was owned by Jim Beam of the US whiskey fame.

Four sherries are offered for tasting after the tour which gives you a good variety.

The guide hardly spoke English so even if she knew something interesting to tell she just couldn't (at some moment I wasn't even sure if she really worked there).
We payed 10 euros each to get 1 glass of their cheapest dry wine (fino) + 1 glass of another one (sorry I forgot its name the minute we left) + 1/4 glass of their 30 year old Pedro Ximenez.
And they didn't even bother to serve the first two wines - the girl just put the bottles on the table and left for like 25 minutes.
As for the shop there're only two versions of each wine: the cheapest and a 30 year-old one.
If you've been to Porto and visit this place you really risk to get disappointed.
