“Good but very quirky”
Reviewed 13 February 2014

On a trip to watch F1 winter testing in Jerez we chose this restaurant based on the #1 ranking on Tripadvisor. We had a good meal, but based on our previous night in Parrilla La Pampa, there is better on offer in Jerez.

However, that's not a bad reflection on La Mascaipacha. They have both English and Spanish menues, and although the service didn't speak any English it wasn't a big problem to order. Food is served tapas style, and is certainly of good quality, if a little on the salty side. A special mention must go to the cured meats though - 3 year old acorn-fed ham was divine. Hand-carved in front of you and simply melt in the mouth.

Lovely vodka liqueurs on the house at the end (very good local take on Limoncello) made the evening. However, going back to the first point on this review, the very clean, white, sterile atmosphere doesn't quite suit Jerez and there are better places to eat. If you just ate here you'd likely be happy, but on my experience it isn't the number one place in Jerez.

Thank you very much for your comments on Tripadvisor. We are glad you enjoyed our menu and have it appreciated that we had published menu text in English. I should also tell you that "about colours there aren't liking" (literally Spanish proverb) . I understand that you enjoyed the restaurant's dishes mentioned but we believe they are not comparable, are totally different. And there are other restaurants in Jerez, of course yes, and some very good. We hope that you return soon to Jerez and, of course, waited you again visiting The Mascaipacha. And please, tell to waiter you likes food with little salt, we will try our best to please you.

“Is this really Jerez best??”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

We chose this restaurante based on the fact that it was ranked #1 in Tripadvisor.
Service was excelent, friendly and efficient, and the food was good but nothing you would expect from Jerez #1 Restaurant: our salad had a tasty dressing, with a hint of garlic thar made it interesting without being overpowering, but was a mixture of premade salads; the Retinto and the Lamb spits were good, and served with some excelent chips but had nothing that made them memorable or different from similar spits elsewhere.
The restaurante is clean and modern looking and, while it was a very slow night, conversation over dinner was made harder by loud music and crying children.
The bill came to 45€ for two, with no wines or dessert, but with two cups of Tio Pepe.
Overall it was a nice experience but nothing out of this world and I would be surprised if this restaurant is really. Jerez best food experience

Dear TECEDAS, thank you for choosing La Mascaipacha and we regret that our restaurant has not complete your expectations. I would also tell you that in here we have not bought pre-made salads neither made its before, they are made at the time the waiter goes to the kitchen with the order. We will consider the volume of the music but we never do anything if a child cries; in Spain is normal practice to take children to restaurants, even at dinner. However, we hope to see you again in La Mascaipacha and we will try your meal will be enjoyable that last time. Thank you so much for your feedback.
