This is the second time that we have stayed at the Itaca Hotel in Jerez De La Frontera. Both times we have been more than satisfied by the hotel and its staff.
Itaca Hotel Jerez is conveniently located midway between the railway and bus stations which are beside each other and on a main road into the town centre. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the stations along safe main roads with wide pavements (sidewalks) and plenty of local activity. For those driving, it should not be difficult to find the hotel on the right side of the road leading into the centre of Jarez.
The exterior of the hotel is somewhat austere and doesn't really stand out among similar buildings until you are right there. Once inside, you will find that all aspects of the interior have been extensively redeveloped and are super modern in style. Reception staff were invariably very helpful and accommodating. Last year they put some fruit in the staff fridge after we checked out in the morning for us to collect later in the day. This year we were allowed to use a computer terminal a the front desk to check our e-mail as the pay terminal in the lobby was malfunctioning.
The rooms are all ultra- modern in design and furnishings. This can prove to be a challenge when figuring out all the bells and whistles of the shower. Warning: if you don't follow the posted instructions in the shower carefully, you may get a very cold shower! Unfortunately, as we stayed at the Itaca during an unusually hot (34 deg. C) period in April, the central air conditioning was not yet in service and our room was excessively hot at night. However, after 11pm the passing vehicle and human traffic outside was generally light so our sleep was not excessively disturbed.
Breakfast at the Itaca Hotel Jerez is served in a former convent chapel. The chapel, like the rest of the building, has been tastefully converted into a restaurant. The self service hot and cold 'all you can eat' buffet is extensive and should cater for all international tastes. Breakfast was included in our room price.
The hotel is in the course of installing a rooftop patio during our visit. This will be an added bonus when completed - possibly by now.
We found that the Itaca Hotel Jerez was very reasonably priced considering the overall quality of the accommodations (nothwithstanding the air conditioning issue) and inclusion of a full English-style breakfast was an added bonus. We will not hesitate to stay at this hotel again should we be passing through Jerez De Lan Frontera. It was one of the best values in a medium sized city that we found while travelling in Spain both in 2012 and in 2013.
