“Another Fantastic Holiday”
Reviewed 23 June 2011

This was our second holiday at Lindos Blu. Amazingly it was better than our first visit. The standard of the hotel is fantastic and run by and enthusiastic and genuinly careing team of staff. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone. The food was again superb and we felt this standard had also improved.
We have never been to the same place twice but here is a place where we would go again and again and again.

The staff as mentioned in my previous correspondence were absolutley great and could not have improved our stay. They were genuinely courteous and most helpful and could not have been more helpful in answering our numerous questions about the island and the best ares to visit.
The vista was stunning, food and service most enjoyable from breakfast to lunch, to fine dining in the evening and the bar service afterwards could not have been better with JOANNA and SVENGELIS. Our thanks to them both for making our holiday one to remember.

Room Tip: All rooms were available with a view of the bay

This hotel is fantastic. The rooms, the public areas, the staff and the service........everything is first class, from the first glass of complimentary cava on arrival to the staff waving you off when you leave. We first visited in June 2010, came back in June 2011 and have already booked for June 2012.

Listed as one of the worlds "small luxury hotels" the Lindos Blu very much lives up to that listing. The hotel is cleverly 'sculpted' into the cliffs offering stunning views across the bay. On arrival, you are welcomed with a drink and given a brief guide of the hotel and it's features. The rooms are very nice with the bathroom being the feature. Each bathroom has a spa bath and an electric screen allowing views out to the sea if you wish. Reasonable sized fridge is supplied and a safe provided free of charge.

Breakfast is served between 7am and 11am so there is no need for an early rise for this - however an early rise will be necessary if you wish to utilise the pool they refer to as the "eye".

There are 2 swimming pools - the "infinity" pool and the "eye". Very few people used the infinity pool, probably because it is situated directly in front of the restaurant where breakfast and lunches are served. A posers paradise, but was not for me - and judging by how deserted it was - not for many others.

Don't misunderstan me - I am in shape. (Well, round IS a shape is it not?), but as I say, not very popular.

This leaves the only other pool as the "eye". Small but very nicely located. Very private. The problem? Only 12 sunbeds are situated here, so, the early rise is back on the menu if you want to sun bathe here all day. Most days, 8 -10 beds were "towelled up" by 6.30am. By 7.15am it was completely occupied.

The Lindos Blu however occupies a private section of the beach, where there are always ample sunbeds. Be warned though, it's a bit of a climb back to the hotel in 90 degree+ heat, even utilising the much discussed multi lift system. If you are not very mobile, the beach option is def not for you.

The lift system? Not as bad as some have indicated. After 1-2 days - you will have it mastered. We never experienced any waiting time worth discussion when using the lifts.

Breakfast is very good. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, esp the chef who will gladly cook you scrambled eggs, omelettes, boil eggs, or quickly rattle you up waffles or pancakes. Lots of fresh fruit, cereals, cold meats...indeed, all the usual foodstuff you would expect in a 5 star hotel.

The cleaners are fantastic. Rooms cleaned twice daily, towels changed as often as you wish, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We also had "treats" delivered regularly. Flowers, foods, and even a birthday cake for my wife.

Lindos town itself is a mile or so away and as has been suggested on here, the road is not very suitable for walking, so, if you are eating out as we did, budget €150 for taxis for a 2 week stay. The extra €2 for the trip to town is because the hotel phone the taxi for you. It's €8 to town and €5 or €6 back.

Lindos is a beautiful little town with lots of small shops/pubs/cafes/restaurants. Typical 2 course meal with wine was €45. There are too many good restaurants to name. Our favs were Mythos and Alex's, but we didn't have a bad meal in 2 weeks and visied approx 10 different ones. Again, staff are wonderfully friendly in all places. We did speak to couples who were dining in the Lindos Blu, and none were too impressed, but that info is 2nd hand and we didn't dine in the hotel.

My main bugbear was on the last day. Despite the fact we checked in at almost midnight on our arrival, and had a very late flight home, we were not allowed to stay in the room beyond noon. We were given a 30 min slot for a shower in the spa area, which was good and appreciated, but it's a long day in blistering heat when you have no access to your own comforts. We were offered the room until 4pm but at exorbitant rates. This was an irritation but didn't spoil the overall experience.

Would I return? Most definitely. I would make sure however I had an earlier flight time.

A very quiet, peaceful and relaxing environment, admittedly helped by my early rises to secure a decent sunbed!

Finally - on the subject of the rooms with the shared "private" pools. They looked very small, and certainly not private. In view of all pedestrian traffic and not always catching the sun for as long as the std double rooms.

We booked a late break directly with the hotel - so had a junior suite for one day then a bedroom with a shared pool for the rest of the stay. Everything was never too much trouble, fast internet for work plus good food. All rooms above the basic bedroom have a nespresso machine. All 5 star hotel should do this ! We will be back

Room Tip: Book direct for great value

We went to celebrate our silver wedding anniversery. On arrival we were shown to our beautiful room with the most spectacular view of the beach and bay. There was fruit, champagne and cake in the room when we arrived. We booked bed and breakfast with the travel agent and paid the hotel for the half board upgrade, paying for lunch dependant upon what we had that day. The food was magnificent, the lunches huge, after the first day we shared one lunch between us. The lobster meal in the Five Senses restaurant was the best meal we have ever had, the food, service, candle light table overlooking the bay seem just like a dream. We spent our days by the infinity pool, where the service was superb. We could go on forever, the only thing wrong was that the brochure does not do justice to the hotel and its fabulous staff. Even the weather was better than it should have been. Would we go back, we are dreaming of it and have started saving. Simply paradise. Frank and Sandra Payne.

What is there to say - all the rpevious write ups are spot on. Excellent hotel, well equippped modern and sytlish rooms, food superb. Staff the most attentive and focussed we have experienced in many years and in many high standard hotels. need to be fit to get down to (and back from) the beach but well worth the effort. Lindos is fine for going out with one or two decent restaurants and worth the 14 euro return cab - wouldn't even consider the walk. We loved it and will definitely come back.
