“Exceptional service, wonderful location, and beautiful accommodations”
Reviewed 22 June 2009

We stayed at Lindos Blu in the beginning of June. We were greeted nicely and our room was large, beautifully appointed and had a panoramic view of the sea. Two days into the trip, I had a medical emergency. The staff was incredibly helpful and compassionate- they got me immediate medical attention and catered to my every need.
I look forward to returning to this amazing hotel.

The hotel has a great view to the beach of Vlicha. Everything is top and the staff is really great. Especially Tsambika and her team are doing a great job in the main restaurant :-))

The only thing we would a little bit complain about is the choise of the halfboard menu. You only can choose between 2 main courses (fish or meat), that´s a little bit less, even when you do not like fish so much. On the other side, breakfast was great. There was nothing that you have missed here.

We are sure, we will come back to that nice hotel!

Having stayed at the Lindos Mare next door on several occasions and fancying a change we took the plunge and booked a break at the LIndos Blu. We weren't disappointed! Food, sevice, rooms, bars, pools all were impecable. If you want a pampered, child free relaxing break this is the place to come!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Lindos Blue from 16th-23rd May '09. We wanted top quality, relaxation and a beautiful location so spent much time looking into it and used the reviews on Trip Advisor to help us with our decision. As the hotel hadn't properly been open till this season there weren't many reviews, but the few there were had all given it fantastic comments and the photos were spectacular.

We went through Thomson, which as affordable, as I can't say we'd have been able to afford to stay there if we'd booked directly with the hotel.

ACCOMMODATION
We actually arrived at the hotel at 4.30am (the inconvenient flight times meant we paid a little less). The reception was stunning: lots of glass, marble, very spacious - very modern looking. The man on reception was extremely helpful and we were shown down to our room. The reception is at the top of the hotel and there are lifts/stairs down to all the rooms. Our room was known as a 'panoramic double room' and it certainly did have the best views and wasn't overlooked. All rooms have lovely views overlooking the bay, but many of them are by one of the pools, meaning that anyone in the pool or on the sunbeds can see you if you are relaxing on your balcony.

In our room we had a large plate of fruit, a bottle of bubbly and a bottle of still water. It would have been nice if this bottle of water was replaced daily, but it wasn't. There is a substantial mini bar, but it costs...

FOOD
We were on a B&B board and made the most of the buffet breakfast. There is a huge choice: continental - breads bagels, cheeses and cold meats; cooked - sausages (german style), bacon, vegetables, potatoes, beans and freshly cooked eggs/omlettes to your liking; plenty of fresh fruit, yogurt & honey; waffles, croissants, pasteries and cereals. On the first morning there we saw that bubbly was being offered too, but we thought we wouldn't indulge till our final morning, but after a few days it was not longer available!! However, the freshly squeezed orange juice is gorgeous.

The hotel has 2 restaurants. For the 'Gourmet' you have to book and is VERY expensive and the other, fairly expensive restaurant offers a buffet and/or a la carte. We never ate at these restaurants, mainly because of the price. We were told by one couple that the quality in the buffet restaurant wasn't quite up to scratch, but that the gourmet food was very good, but expensive for what you got. It does, however, have a spectaular setting and views over the sea and I would assume if moey wasn't a problem, it would be a lovely place for a romantic meal.

We made the most of going into Lindos and sampling some wonderful food that is on offer at very reasonable prices. 'Ambrosia' is a restaurant that we would recommend. Either book or get there early as it is quite small inside and fills up quickly. The ownder/manager was charasmatic and very happy to explain anything on the menu. My boyfriend and I are like chalk and cheese when it comes to food. I prefer adventurous cuisine and he is hard to cater for, but in Lindos there was no problem what-so-ever. The majority of restaurants can offer an 'English-ness' menu and there are are couple that do food such as burgers. If you are travelling with a footy fanatic as I was then don't worry - there are a few places that have the big screens. 'Giorgios' (Irish bar) is one to be recommended as it had 2 games broadcasting at the same time.

Only once did we order room service at the hotel, and spent 15Euros on one club sandwich & chips.

BAR
We made very good use of the hotel's bar. Situated at the top of the hotel, it offers the same stunning views as the Gourmet restaurant. You can either sit inside or outside overlooking the bay. There is a good cocktail menu, though expect to pay around 10Euros. The bar tender was excellent - adapting a cocktail to how I preferred it to be.

TAXIS
We walked to Lindos from the hotel once, which took about 25mins - this was in the afternoon and you really cannot do this at night because of the absence of a pavement. A taxi takes about 2-3 mins and costs 7Euros from the hotel (if the hotel staff have booked it) and 5Euros back. The taxi rank is conveniently located at the bottom of the hill in the square in Lindos.

BEACH & POOL
As we'd spent more than we would usually do on this holiday we didn't have the money to do all the excursions provided by Thomson, so we spent our days on the beach or relaxing by the pool. The smaller, quieter pool is located at the bottom of the hotel (3 lifts down from reception). There are only about 10-12 sunbeds here but if you manage to get one then you have the perfect location. The infinity pool is beautiful and the views are second to none. On one occasion we had the whole place to ourselves. The main pool (just outside the buffet restaurant further up) has plenty more sunbeds,a larger pool and a pool bar. One of the bar staff did come down to the other pool to take drinks orders which I thought was lovely. Be warned that any snacks you order are very expensive. There is a small supermarket along the beach which sells everything you will need.

The beach is at the bottom of the hotel. You can get to it by going through the next door hotel, Lindos Mare or around, but it is very very steep. There are plenty of sunbeds, but you must get one early. No doubt in high season they will be ard to get unless more are put up. It is a little frustrating that Lindos Blu does boast about the beach and sunbeds, but you have to share the spot with Lindos Mare and the residents from there do seem to get there first!!! (you can tell by the different colour beach towels). As one other person has commented on this site - the fact that Lindos Blu is supposed to be an adults only hotel, it does spoil it a little when there are loud children on the beach, in the hotel's reserved area when you've paid all that extra for peace and quiet. But if that doesn't bother you then that's ok.

STAFF
The staff at Lindos Blu are very friendly and will try to accommodate your needs. I just do not know how they manage to work the hours they do and still have a smile!!

OTHER INFO
There was work still going on at the hotel, but it didn't spoil our holiday. As the hotel rooms weren't all completed it meant the hotel was fairly quiet. I didn't like, however, that our balcony light was half missing. We did report it to reception on the first day, but it wasn't fixed until our very last day! Though we were told that the parts had to come from Athens!!??

A note for people flying late: We were concerned about having to check out early when we wouldn't be flying till the early hours of the morning. We enquired about a late check out and were horrified when told it would cost over 200Eros to stay till 9pm (we were being picked up from the hotel between 12-12.45am!) We said we weren't happy, explained our situation and the fact thta we'd only taken up our room at 4.30 in the morning so had practically paid for a room we weren't in. The girl on reception spoke to the manager and even though it wasn't free, we were allowed the room till midnight for approx 120Eros. Yes - I think it would have been considerate of them to have given it to us for no extra charge, but it was just nice to know we wouldn't be stressing on the day.

All in all - the hotel was stunning and we were lucky with our room. Again, if we'd had a bit more money to spare I would have used the spa facilities, but we were very content with the beach and pool as the views were so spectaular. Lindos itself is a lovely town with plenty of choice for eating. Highly recommended.

My husband and I wanted to get a week away after the chaos of our wonderful wedding so we really did take a chance picking a very new hotel which had only just opened with not a single review on the trusty old trip advisor!

Well, we can't praise it enough! When we arrived the staff were ever so polite and courteous - I think a memo had gone out to let them know the honeymooners were in town! Our room was simply delightful - arriving at night, the sight in the morning as we pulled back the curtains was nothing short of breathtaking - such a large expanse beautiful of water! And not to mention the fabulous jacuzzi bath - defnitely made to fit 2 after a long hard day basking in the sun!

The food at the hotel was exceptional and the location was far enough away from the bedlam of Lindos to make it a retreat but close enough to venture out explore for a change!

I think they had only been open a matter of weeks when we went and there were some finishing touches still going on but nothing to affect our holiday in the least! Not when everyone is so lovely from the receptionist, to the front of house (who worked day and night!), and the cleaners!

I promised them that I would write the review as soon as I got back and be the first - I'm so sorry for being so lazy but thank you for a wonderful stay! May Lindos blu last long and prosper!
