“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 8 June 2012

Unsure why there are poor reviews on here. We have stayed at beautiful hotels all over the world and this hotel certainly did not disappoint. Big advantage for us was that is was adults only so no kids running round everywhere which was heaven! Lovely grounds and pools - some rooms have their own private pool so there were always plenty of loungers available round the main pools. Room was lovely with cool decor and had all you would need including a huge balcony. There is a small private beach but it is rocky into the sea and we preferred the pool areas.
We were B & B only but we did eat in the hotel a couple of nights. The food was very good and we found all the staff to be very warm and helpful. The entertainment in the Zen bar was varied and of good quality - nothing loud, intrusive or "holiday camp" like here.
You do have to get a taxi into Lindos - otherwise you are looking at a 20-30 minute trudge along the main coast road - but it was only 7-8 euros each way.
All in all I would say that it is fair to give this hotel 5 stars - it has tried to create a more refined and exclusive atmosphere than you will find at a lot of hotels on Rhodes and we thought it was very good value for money. We would recommend.

We loved this hotel in ever aspect! Look no further and ignore the negative reviews. The negative reviews on this hotel are for many years ago and have pulled down it's ranking but it absolutely deserves to be at the top!

We 2 years ago we stayed at the Lindos blue and absoluetly loved it and was temped to just rebook the same hotel but we decided to try a change and we loved this hotel more!

To help you understand this review - we are mid to late thirties, love good london living and fine dining. We are fussy and we loved this place. Ignore all old reviews

The Aquagrand is stylish and well appointed and finished to a great quality. It seriously impressed us not only for Style but Facilities, Pools, Resturants, Food quality, Staff and Care.

The hotel decor is beautiful and has various themes which are quite diverse but fit together beautifully with a form of morrocan feel in certain areas but in a stylish way, and a more classic french funishing in others. The designer did a great job.

The hotel is more of a resort than the lindos blue where there are mulitple areas for you to go to and experience differing food, pool and design styles, where as the lindos blue is small with limited space and just one consistent minimalistic styling.

The pool areas ( 2 of which you can use) one core in the centre of the hotel, large pool next - no loud music but one end you can hear a little bit of music if thats what you like - the other end is peaceful and quiet. The other is a smaller pool down at the sea front and at the sea front bar and resturant. The pools are usable pools - the lindos blu's pool you dont really sit around as most of the loungers dont face the pool. The Aquagrand you feel comfortable to use the space and enjoy the facilities. We were there in May 12 and the pools were a touch chilly but so was the sea.

The beach at the resort is so so peaceful, loungers are mega comfortable ( I was 30 weeks preganant and could lie all day on them! ) We went to other beaches including the lovely St Pauls bay in Lindos but the peace on the beach at the hotel could not be beaten. The beach is small stones which normally would hugely put me off a hotel as I love sand but the beach and surroundings was just beautiful. Getting into the sea is tricky but with wet shoes/ flip flops you are fine. We suggested to the hotel that they need to put a getty and steps dirct into the water ( like you get in Egypt ) to help make this easy for their guests- this was out only comment of advise to improve - everything else was perfect! Service on beach is good and personal - great lunch resturants one fish ( which is just beautiful and in peak you can have private dining in cabanna's looking at the sea and one a beautiful bar and resturant ( make sure you order the gyros - its no normal gyros - was amazing! ) Pool also surrounds this resturant.

The rooms at the hotel are lovely. We stayed in 925. We had a princess suite, without pool that had the sea view. they were set back off teh beach but had super super view. We loved the position and it was very quiet and was not over looked. The princess suits with pools were private and as you walk around people can not see in.

The pools in May at the princess suit ( sea view) had sun in the morning but afternoons lost the sun. Same for the balconies upstairs. At the lindos blue we had a private pool but the same happened there so we decided not not bother with one this time and with the excellent facilities thought it was the right decision. We did not see one person in their pools

Rooms were of excellent quality, beds and furnishing extremley comfortable. Again being preganant I was worried but slept better there than at home! Bathrooms and care all excellent.

If you are looking at a pool room or for privacy I would advise these princess sea view rooms rather than pool facing.. pool facing are not at all private - your pool and rooms are literally beside the main pool.. and many of the rooms walk past them to get to the resturants too. We thought it would be completely pointless paying for these and not private at all.

The other upside to also booking the princess suits is that if you go half board - which we did ( although we normally dont) the dining experience was different to everyone else. yes you still went up to get your food but you had a seperate eating section on a beautiful jetty over the pool and with sea views rather than in the food hall - which was nice and well furnitshed and decorated but is a food hall. You also got table service and personal care which didnt make it at all feel half board at all. We loved it.

Food quality was excellent - breakfast - everything you could want and more ( lindos blu did give you champers at breakfast but bar that of equal quality.
Buffet evening meals of good quality and selection - we ate in their three times and didnt expect to as we love going into lindos for dinner! only down side is that dinner stops at 9.30 - was a touch early for us!

A few reviews said they swapped dinner for lunch - we were not able to do this they said this has now stopped.

A la carte resturants ( 2 of) we used at lunch time, there is a fab fish resuturant as mentioned earlier at sea front and a pizza and pasta resturant at main pool side but also a lovely indoor evening dining section . We had a lunch a couple of times and absolutely loved! super super food! Really was excellent.

Staff were extremely attentive, Panos the butler is very attentive and a great assit to the hotel, I think he kissed my hand about 100 times over my week! Helpful and personal service. Bar and resutrant staff the same - very personal but not intrusive.

My other half used the spa twice for a massage and said it was excellent. Gym is small and you have to pay 5 euros a day to use - we thought that was silly to charge and such a little extra - it did slightly niggle it wasnt in the rate. Should have been free of charge... not that we used it!

You do need a car or hop in a taxi to get to lindos - same applies to lindos blu. But this hotel is well worth that distance, dont let that put you off. We are not hotel dwellers normally but this hotel made us want to stay around the hotel

Overall this hotel was excellent - we loved everything about it.

This hotel should be ranked above lindos blu in our opinion having stayed and throughly enjoyed both. Both are wonderful but this placed topped it for us.

Book it now!

(If I could have given this hotel 2.5 stars, or 5 out of 10, I would have done.)

We stayed at the Aquagrand as we were getting married in Lindos at St Paul’s Bay. The hotel is amazing and definitely has the “wow factor”. In this respect the hotel exceeded our expectations – which were high to begin with! This was especially so given that the hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade from a standard room to a pool view room as they knew we were getting married. Our board basis was half board.

However, in my opinion the hotel was let down by both the service and the food. It seemed as though many of the staff were trying to project an air of exclusivity by acting somewhat aloof and unfriendly. Whenever we wanted something slightly out of the ordinary (such as swapping our half board dinner for lunch on the wedding day), they made an ordeal of it. There was a lack of consistency in approach to such requests and in the level of service offered to the wedding party. On one occasion the waitress at the fish restaurant was downright rude. On many occasions the service in the restaurants was slow-to-very-slow. Finally the butler who stalks the reception area could have been a nice touch but didn’t quite pull it off. Again, it appeared as though his main aim was to project an air of exclusivity... it just came across as a bit creepy, in my humble opinion.

The food was average. Breakfast and lunch were both buffets. We had (mistakenly?) thought that dinner would be a la carte. Anyway, there was a wide range of dishes available for dinner – so no complaints there. But at the end of the day it was a buffet and none of the food really blew us away. Generally on the nights that we ate in Lindos village, we had better experiences.

For background there were about 15 others who stayed at the hotel to attend our wedding, and upon talking to most of the party, they generally had similar comments to us.

Room Tip: We emailed the reservations manager to inform them of our impeding nuptials and were upgraded to a p...

The hotel was great and having a private pool was a real treat. All the food at the buffet was delicious and the main bar provided great views. Can't wait to go back!

From the moment we arrived to the time we had to sadly leave, our stay at the Aqua grand was superb.
The facilities are excellent, but the real hidden gem is the quality of the staff. Every single one of them was polite and very helpful.
My suggestion would be to stay on a bed and breakfast deal as the restaurants and bars in Lindos are too good not to experience. We did eat one night at the hotel and although the food was ok i found it a little over priced for what we received.
However that is only one small tiny complaint in comparison for the praise i would like to heap on this wonderful hotel.

hi my husband and i stayed here for our honeymoon for the week in june 2011. the hotel is beautiful, our room was amazing and we would most definetely go back. we had a sea view room with a cabana which was much needed, we went in june and we found the weather a bit hot for us. we got a taxi in lindos a couple of times which is about 6 euros, and the village is so beautiful and st pauls bay is gorgeous a def must see if you go to rhodes. the restaurant is a really lovely set up very contempary and modern the food was 1st class. the staff were mostly friendly and helped when ever they could. there is a small shop on site, very handy if you dont fancy going into lindos for bits. the bars are beautiful we found the drinks and food a little pricey but then again you have to rememeber your at a 5* hotel so really to be expected. when we arrived the staff had made our room lovely with a fruit basket and bottle of bubbly and petals over the bed and in bath very nice. the room was spacious the bed very comfy and large the bath room had a bath and shower separate and we were really impressed. we have now heard it is an adults only hotel now which is a fair. when we stayed there were a couple of children but not much for them to do as in activities. we used the spa during our stay and that was also very enjoyable they do have special offers on whilst your there so do enquire. the beach was quite nice very peaceful and quiet as i said before the cabana was lovely to have in the hot months just for some well needed escape from the sun. you dont need to take any towels as all supplied. i hope this review is of help :-)

Hi everyone, we stayed at Aquagrand in July 2011 for my 30th birthday. Like all my hols I did my research as we wanted somewhere cool! This hotel definitely is what we like! Very modern & extremely clean, pool is gorgeous, the rooms with the private pools are stunning (was very jealous!). It's exactly as it looks in all the photos! The only downside is having dinner every single night in the same restaurant playing the same music, seeing the same people etc etc. & if u are happy going to bed at 10:30 every night then this is the place for you! Also half board is a bit of a pain as u have to pay for drinks & it is hotel prices so be warned! We went into Lindos twice but it is a bit of a mission, about 40 minute boiling hot walk! We were there during a taxi strike too. So if it was a bit closer to Lindos it would be perfect! We loved it though, when the bus dropped us off people were asking on the coach who we booked this hotel through! Would go again for a nice relaxing, quiet week in the sun in beautiful surroundings.
