“Fantastic hotel let down by poor attitude from reception staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2010

This hotel is beautifully designed with great views from the almost private beach. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned daily and the furniture is modern and comfortable. The breakfasts are amazing with every option that could be wished for. The hotel is a 5 minute drive to Lindos town which makes it easy to visit but far enough away to enjoy the peace. The beach is a pebble beach and swimming shoes are recommended as it is easy to get small cuts to the feet otherwise. The staff in the restaurants, cleaners and beach attendant could not be faulted and were friendly and helpful. However this hotel is let down by the front reception staff. Their attitude seems to be that everything is too much trouble. They are also disorganised. We arrived 24 hours late as our flight was delayed and were told that our room was given to someone else. We were then given a room which had not been cleaned with dirty towels in the bathroom. We were moved to a room which then did not have any towels at all. After complaining we were moved to a third room which was lovely. However we were told the next day that we were going to have to move again because the room was a grade above what we had paid for. After complaining the hotel reception eventually let us stay in this room but this is not a five star service. I am sure that these measures will iron out if the staff were given more training. All in all this is a beautiful hotel that I would recommend to anyone wishing to stay in Lindos.

Excellent stay other than the evening meal on the first night which was a dried up sandwich. It left a poor first impression but after that everything was first class. We stayed on a half board basis and the buffet meals were excellent, plenty of choice and very tasty.

We had a sea facing room with balcony, as with the rest of the hotel very pleasant and clean.

Ideally you need a car if you want to see the rest of the island but locally Lindos and its Acropolis are very nice, especially in the evenings

A fabulous holiday. Everything was wonderful. George and his team do a fantastic job of welcoming you and ensuring all is first class.
The rooms are excellent - very modern and stylish. The place is spotless and there is service with a smile. Someone has taken a great deal of trouble to ensure customer service is paramount. Tsabika in the (evening) restaurant deserves a special mention - what a delight !

We spent seven days at the Aquagrand in September, on the whole we had a lovely , relaxing holiday. First the good points, too many to list all, but here's a few, the room was amazing , we had a private pool, in one of the best locations , as it had several trees in the border giving us privacy that some didn't have. The sheets were changed everyday also all the fluffy white towels. Lovely bathroom, all kept immaculately clean. The breakfasts were amazing, lovely selection of food. The staff at reception were always polite and helpful, calling us taxi's etc. The decor in the hotel was superb as were the grounds.
Now a few little niggles that we experienced that we wouldn't expect from a 5 star hotel, there was a lack of side plates in the restaurant, so you had to balance your bread on your dinner plate some nights. Also only enough salt and pepper pots for half the tables. The waiting staff got our meals and drinks orders wrong several times, due to language problems. In our room the lighting was very dim in the evening , so I had to take a chair and get ready in the bathroom each evening. It would of been helpful if we had been given a plan of the hotel on day one. Lastly we would of loved a drink in the beach bar in the evenings but it was closed , leaving only one bar open.
On the whole we had a lovely relaxing holiday and never wanted to leave our gorgeous room .

Really didn't know where to start with this review, but will give a very honest opinion...It's just a very strange place...A lot of elements of this review may be based on what some people may see as minor issues, but since this was out fifth stay in Lindos as we have friends in the area we were really excited about trying the AquaGrand for the first time. (The standard of service at our usual hotel is frankly nothing but amazing...The list of little touches is endless...so we were expecting the same!) In terms of the positives, it's a lovely hotel - but I'm not sure whether it is trying to be all things to all people and this is what may be letting it down? Lindos is the most beautiful place and we stay every year...so please please try the local restaurants - Ambrosia, Dionysos, Antika, Pals Bar, Yannis as the service and hospitality received is fantastic. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady - blonde - but we weren't introduced. (The hotel has no name badges either) Staff aren't smartly dressed - I guess this may be their take on trying to be a "little more contemporary" but everyone just seems to wear what they like! Moving on...the room...A honeymoon suite - it was a nice room with a large balcony and living area...no complimentary bottle of champagne (bottle of the house red with no bottle opener for the week) oh and a jacuzzi bath that had a life of it's own...literally started randomly all the time. We decided then as it was only 4pm to take a swim and catch a little sun before dinner - a treck to the beach hut - narrowly missed by the young man riding round like a lunatic in the golf buggy (this is a daily occurrence) where you have to wake the other young man sleeping on an inflatable lilo under the desk to be told that they have finished with the towel service for the day...not great! Oh how we laughed...Dinner our favourite entertainment time of the day...incidentally even though we were half board we ate twice in the hotel...if you expect 5* food and service...forget it...it's a buffet/table service/chaos...you can literally have 3 courses and not have a plate cleared by the time you are on dessert, unless you "order" a main from the limited choice of 3 to 4 available - which is rarely vegetarian ...and mainly swimming in oil...so you do have to have the buffet most of the time...No reservations for specific times... usually a queue to get in and then you have to wait in the bar or your room until a table is available...then shown in and help yourself to a glass of prosecco...dinner is served until 9.30pm - but if you haven't made your selection from the buffet by that time...forget it, the food is taken away (literally) so if like a lot of the other couples who wanted a romantic break (minus children running around) and therefore chose to eat after 9pm...isn't going to happen I'm afraid! There was also one evening when we watched one waitress clearing the half empty champagne glasses from outside whilst drinking the rest sneakly behind the door...nice touch...Oh how we laughed! The only redeemable thing about the main restaurant is Alex , the wine waiter (or Mario as he is known) excellent and truly knows his stuff...oh and Antonio (Tony). The hostess is also lovely - but again we didn't know her name. Ah then on to the bar...post dinner you can head to the bar, which is literally ran by a group of boys who are arrogant to say the least and will usually take over 10 minutes to serve you. One evening - I went to the bar to order a couple of drinks and the floor waiter had just gone back to the bar with an order for a lady for strawberry daiquri at 11.35pm and he literally started arguing with his colleague in front of us with "you ask me to make this at this time of night" Residents bar?!?! They were understandably watching the TV at the time (the staff) so apologies to have disturbed them! We decided to call it a night and not drink in the hotel again (unless from mini bar or Olivino beach taverna) as the service there was always good. We were gong to have room service one evening - but there is no menu in the room, so you have to guess or beg to take one from somewhere...Ok - so may be a stroll in to the gift shop area - where we and other guests had talked about being watched (and followed around) by a young very disgruntled looking girl with arms folded - standing directly in front of you whilst you made your selection of water/mints or chocolate...Ah chocolate - yes we will get on to that at check out...we had to wait to be checked out as the lovely lady on reception wearing denim jeans explained that she couldn't help us as she was new - we then had to wait for the receptionist to finish chatting to her friend near the gift shop whilst eating a chocolate bar that she then came over still eating when she checked us out - we were then given a copy of our "bill" minus a break down in description...By this point I was ready to blow a gasket!! It's such a shame as its evident that some of the staff work exceptionally hard and that others just don't seem to care and whilst some of this may seen rather trivial...service is key, particularly when establishing a new luxury hotel as believe me Lindos is certainly not short of a couple of amazing hotels! Which we will be frequenting again!

I would agree with all the positive remarks everyone has made. Aquagrand is beautiful and the staff are lovely. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, and the rooms are nice.
On the negative our room overlooked the sewerage tanks which were constantly being worked on. We had about 3 days when we could not use our pool as the smell was dreadful. Then the lorry came and parked outside our room for two days running to empty the tanks. Not well planned at all. We also had to wait for 6 days before we knew whether we could book a room an extra day as we were flying out in the early hours - It was ridiculous as we were more than happy to pay - but no one could confirm if there was an available room.
I have written to the Management to make these comments through their email address on the website but have had no reply - not very good PR I feel.
I do hope these problems are sorted out as it is honestly the most lovely hotel I have been to in Greece.

We stayed here for a week in July and it was a truley beautiful place. The hotel is immaculate, the room was very comfortable and very modern and the views were stunning. Staff were all friendly too. We were H/B and ate within the restaurant on two occassions. The meals were very nice although some of the waiters were a little disorganised and made us feel a little uncomfortable but dont let this minor imperfection put you off. There are so many places to relax by the pool and the beach is just a minute walk from the hotel main pool. Drinks were a little expensive but im sure if you are going to stay here, you should expect to have to part with well earned euros. The beach was nice although a little untidy i thought but the sea warm warm and welcoming. Lindos nightlife is relaxed and easy going. There are a few late night bars for the younger generation such as myself and my boyfriend and for those not looking for nightlife, the restaurants were faultless. I honestly cant think of many bad points about our holiday and would fully recommend the Aqua Grand. If you get the chance, take a tip into Pefkos and go on the glass bottom boat, it was wonderful. Have fun if you are going here anytime soon, you lucky people : ) x
