“Superb stay, we have been twice and will go back again”
Reviewed 13 August 2011

This is a great hotel, my mum and I went for a girls week.

Food
We go B&B because we are foodies and like variety and eating in different places each night (half board/full board meals are taken in the main restaurant only). If you're not sure note that the hotel offers B&B guests the chance to opt into half board or full board per day for a fixed price. The hotels 'smart' restaurant Asterias is fantastic, also we recommend a couple of restaurants outside the complex, Konstantins for its excellent meat dishes and wines and Nikolaos for honest authentic Greek cuisine. Although the hotel is quite isolated, we find there is enough choice inside the hotel and outside to go B&B here, including a trip to Lindos per week.

The breakfast in the hotel is one of the best i've ever had in terms of both variety and quality- in particular the coffee is nice and strong which is rare.

Room
Upgraded to a room with private small pool and it was well worth it. it can get quite muggy in peak summer so its a nice to have a plunge pool. Also having a private terrace to sunbathe on is a nice luxury (although there is no shortage of sunbeds all around the grounds). we had a veranda covered in jasmine, its very pretty and quiet as we faced the garden borders.

Landscaping
The hotel is really beautiful with bright flowers everywhere. the lawns are green and well maintained.

Staff
All excellent

Facilities
There are so many pools here so you're sure to find one to suit you. we wanted to be quite active and there are some long pools in the quiet garden borders of the resort where you can do lengths. The gym is pretty well equipped and free. There is a convenience shop outside the complex and inside the hotel.

Entertainment
It hasnt changed much in the last 3 years, the same acts are coming back week after week. I think it could do with an overhaul, and perhaps more acts with audience participation like the belly dancer. For example a disco interrupted with interviewing children over the microphone is pretty tedious for adults.

A final suggestion to the hotel: we would like to see more incentives for your returning guests! You didn't know who we were on our second visit. But the stay was fabulous as expected.

Room Tip: Garden view room with private pool is fantastic

Just got back from the Atrium Palace and we were sorry to leave. What a fantastic hotel it was. This was our first visit to Greece and certainly won't be our last.Everyone was so friendly and helpful throughout our 2 weeks stay.No problems getting sunbeds at all, which has been a problem where we have stayed elsewhere.
The animation staff were particularly friendly and ensured we had a good time during the day and in the evenings. We very much enjoyed the Abba nights on Sundays, the 4 girls were very good and we enjoyed singing along.
In our opinion there were 3 staff in particular that really stood out and went that extra mile to make sure that everything was ok for us. Paris in the restaurant was very professional and helpful,Niki in the main bar was very helpful and always had time for a chat ( and gave me extra biscuits with my coffee ) and last but by no means least Pani who runs the main pool bar, what a smashing guy he is,professional, courteous and very friendly,he is a great asset to the hotel.
All in all an excellent hotel which we hope to return to in the future.

Stayed here with the family in July 11. Has a family suite which was ample big enough for a family of four - two large rooms and not all on top of each other with a sea view. Has a couple of issues in the room whic were sorted immediately. Our maid was fab - great sense of humour. Just did the B & B option although drinks in the hotel were a bit on the expensive side so could see the benefit of all inclusive for that. Kalathos is a lovely quiet resort. Great for relaxing by the pool or beach. There are a few good restaurants in walking distance. Mo Vida opposite the hotel did great basic food - baguettes, pizza, sandwiches, chips etc. Konstantins was great for good food. Great and friendly service at all the restaurants. Taxis were on strike the whole time we were there so getting around was not as easy as it might have been but not a problem. There were buses but these did not run late into the evening - 8pm seemed to be about the last one back from Lindos. Car hire easy and plenty available. Lindos is only about 5 mins down the road, Rhodes Town about a 30 min drive. Car hire is great for exploring further. Would certainly come here again.

My Mum and I recently spent a week at the Atrium Palace in Rhodes. We managed to pick a week when Rhodes was hit with a heat wave but apart from this I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and would definitely recommend it.

The hotel is INCREDIBLE. More like a castle with its own botanic gardens - the swimming pools were great and you can almost always get a sunbed. I do recommend putting out your towel early though to reserve one just in case.

The staff are all very friendly and I have to say worked tirelessly in the relentless heat. Pani at the pool bar in particular deserves a special thank you. He makes an incredible strawberry/malibu cocktail and really makes you feel at home.

There's interesting wildlife as well - keep an eye out for giant grasshoppers and the resident cats of the outdoor dining area. The two don't mix very well though.

The beach is a PEBBLE beach and the little rocks do get into just about every kind of footwear you can imagine. I recommend walking closer to the shoreline where the rocks are larger. They also heat up quickly so beware of walking barefoot around midday.

So as not to ramble here are some pluses and minues:

Pluses:
1) Stunning scenery
2) Great family/couples hotel - no rowdy/drunken groups
3) Good service and friendly staff
4) Amazing choice of places to swim/sunbathe and proximity to beach is great
5) Broad choice of food for breakfast/lunch/dinner
6) Local shop opposite hotel has best prices for miles (better than Lindos or Rhodes)
7) Absolutely stunning hotel. Its massive, you could spend days wandering around it.

Minuses:
1) milk provided for meals and coffees is UHT carton milk! Be sure to buy your own from the shop downstairs. It is worth it.
2) The deserts area is always swarming with flies so be careful not to eat things that flies have been on. You can see where they congregate and what they are avoiding. The ice cream is a safe bet because it's kept covered.
3) If you're British/American the choice of TV channels is appauling. All you get is CNN and BBC World News. The hotel claim to put on a film every night at 10pm but the films they chose were horrendous (if they remember to put it on) and once they played the same film twice. When I questioned them about it they said I should go out and look at the stars instead (this brings me on to point 4).
4) There's very little to do after the sun goes down. You're in a remote location and the in hotel entertainment is mostly for kids. Alcohol is expensive. I strongly recommend you bring a laptop/ipad and a supply of films.
5) There were only children's clubs and one ball provided for the crazy golf.

Overall I would give the Atrium Palace 4.5 out of 5 or even 5. It has a few minuses but all things considered really is a stunning resort with a lovely feel to it.

Room Tip: Don't go for the side sea view - the rooms are A LOT smaller and have terrible views. The full s...

We have spent 11 days here in July 2011. 4 adults and 1 baby.

Location:
The hotel is on the beach, 10 minutes from Lindos - nice little village with few bars and restaurants and many shops with souvenirs and fake hardbacks. Besides of going to Lindos you have nothing to do outside hotel resort. The hotel is good for people looking for peaceful vacation ideally spent by half empty pool in not so huge hotel.

Reception:
Excellent service, friendly and professional staff. We never had to wait to long or walk away without help. Everybody spoken good English. Everything went OK as planned.

Room & bathroom:
Clean rooms with all amenities promised. Classic hotel style, no design. Rooms large enough, enough space for clothes. Small bathroom, no electricity plug (?) Old towels, poor bathroom accessories.
Great and quite air-condition. Minibar OK, sometimes not refilled but one call to reception would do it. We had room in ground floor with shared pool – get this one if you can. You have direct entrance to nice clean pool which is totally empty all the time! But no view. The private pool villas look very good from outside but the pool looks small and there is no view. Housekeeping twice a day. Low quality travel baby cots. The rooms need renovation.

Food & dining:
Not large buffet but everything was very good. Great service, all waiters as well as chefs speak good English. Dining room manager Salvas was very professional and had all the tables well organized. Not enough baby seats especially for babies. Nice dining room and nice terraces (few of them) outside. We haven’t tried the a´la cart and beach pizzeria (which is not exactly on the beach) so can’t say but the a´la cart was empty all the time. In hotel brochure they require dress code but half of the guests ignore it.

Bars:
Main bar. Main pool bar. Other pool bar. Great staff – Pani, Niki, Tania, Juraj, good selection. NO food – which is pity as the AI is not so well organized and you might get hungry between breakfast and lunch.

Pools:
Main pool was muddy all the time. Also it is the one which is busy. All other pool were crystal clear. You need to search little bit for sun beds. Most of them is reserved by towels from early morning.

Beach & sea:
Shingle beach. Crystal clear sea, this is the biggest advantage of this place I need to say. There are no water sports, bars or restaurants on the beach. Just 100 sun beds from the hotel and that’s it. When you are on the beach you feel little depressed as there really is nothing for miles around.

Entertainment:
Very weak, like there is none. Kids evening entertainment is together with adults. Basically there is band on the “stage” and few kids dancing with the rest of the guest watching them and getting drunk. At 11pm the bar is closed for AI and clears out. No nightlife at all.

All inclusive club:
As I heard the hotel is having AI first year in 2011 and you can tell. There are laps in serving the meals. You would get hungry between brkfs and lunch. Lunch buffet is in the main restaurant where you feel awkward to come directly from the pool. There is pool restaurant by the main pool which is not so nice. You have the same table reserved for dinner every day which is very useful.

Staff:
Very professional and helpful staff. Everybody speak great English. The staff is international and follows the nationalities of the guests so when you don’t speak English you will always find waiter or bartender speaking your language which becomes useful.

Internet:
Free wi-fi in lobby, main bar, main pool, other pool with bar. Good quality, works all the time.

Spa:
Very nice inside relaxing pool, kind of poor offer of massages, nice fitness, cosmetics, hairdresser, nice staff.

Summary:
We have enjoyed this vacation mainly for the two rooms with shared pool we occupied which makes our vacation with 1 year baby very comfortable. Also the crystal clear water was a plus. We will not be coming back as we prefer livelier hotel and modern design. The staff is doing their best but the hotel has the best years behind and the location is not ideal.

Room Tip: Groundfloor with shared pool and direct entrance to hotel garden.

We stayed there for two weeks. The atmosphere in the hotel was very relaxing. We didn't have to struggle for sunbeds on the beach or at the pools. The personnel were very courteous and the sensation was that you were just the person they longed for meeting with.

We had all inclusive package which was a serious reason for concern about our figures. If we stayed there for other couple of weeks we could turn into four various diameter balls and prietty well roll instead of walking. Buffet for breakfast and lunch. For dinner you can have both dishes from the buffet or from special menu which also come into all inclusive package. Food is very tasty. Fish (tuna, sword fish, anchovy and others) , meat, vegetables, different kinds of cheese, bake, spagetty, chips, ice-cream, cakes, various fruits, local drinks, international coca-cola and so on. As I can see from other reviews here, some of the guests consider the breakfasts a little boring but they didn't seem to us such.

The minus is that there is nor bar on the beach. There are two at the pools, but we are not rest-at-pool types. However we didn't suffer much because of that.

The beach is about 7 minutes walk. There are some more close to the sea villas. Small pebbles. Some people wore sweem shoes (you can buy them in the nearby shop)s, but we didn't need them. Showers on the beach with only cold water but it gets warm because of heat.

The territory is very green and flowery. There is an electrocar for taking you and your luggage if your appartment is not so near to the reception area.

There is a shop right under the main restaurant where you can buy beverages, sweets, souvenirs and different beach stuff. But there is less expensive right near the border of the hotel.

Animation is OK. Mini-disko like everywhere with the same songs and almost the same steps. There is a mini-club but our children didn't go there.

There is wire internet in the rooms and wiireless in the lobby. However it is not high-speed enough. Well, it's OK, but Skype connection doesn't work very good and you can not watch films without permanent breaks.

Take a taxi from hotel to Lindos (14 Euro to and 9 back) - nice for seeing and shopping. I also strictly recomment to take a trip to Symi icland, Rodos town is also a must.
