“Good Time Had By All”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2011

The service received was first class, from the reception staff who were always most helpful, to the restaurant staff who always worked with smiles on their faces, despite the extreme heat at times. Pani at the pool bar gets a special mention as he does in many reviews for his most pleasant and happy persona.

The rooms were adequate, plenty of room, clean and tidy, not sure that they would meet English 5* rating. Beds were quite hard (good for bad backs!) We did have an army of ants one night but these were soon exterminated by the most professional and helpful cleaning staff who appeared to work tirelessly throughout the day.The bar service was also excellent, however, must say prices really expensive. 3.90 Euro for glass of lager (not a pint) 2.90 for soft drinks such as coke.

The location of the hotel is very isolated as described in brochures etc. The beach also as described, is pebbly and does drop away, so not ideal for small children and non swimmers. Lindos beach was great. Bus ride to Lindos and Rhodes made for fun days. We didnt hire a car, that was a personal choice however, for the more confident driver,a car would be ideal for seeing more of the island. Plenty of car hire availabe. The hotel swimming pools were magnificant, the grounds were outstanding.

Locally there was a supermarket with all reasonably priced produce and products that was run by a very friendly couple. Also, cafe (Mo Vidas) next to the supermarket was a great place to have a drink prior to hotel dinner, or a meal. The pizzas and baguettes were brilliant and a good price. Fantasticly friendly reception from the couple who ran it.

We liked the swimming pools very much and had little trouble getting sun loungers, this may become more troublesome should the hotel get any busier. The usual booking of the sun loungers by way of placing towels etc on them continues to be a norm.

If there was any negative, it would be the food for children. This could have been a bit more fussy children friendly! One thing to be aware of, at times we noted flies either flying around the food or actually on it, however, there are many staff available to ensure that the flies do not hang around!

My boyfriend and I stayed here, B&B for three weeks starting the 17th July until 7th August

We checked in very smoothly, the reception staff were fantastic, very helpful and made every effort to ensure we felt welcome. They even greeted my boyfriend in German (his first language) which we thought was a nice gesture. It soon became clear to us that almost every member of staff were bi-lingual which is always helpful.

We were escorted to our room on a golf buggy by one of the bell boys who went the extra mile, literally, to give us a tour of the resort and some of the local amenities. Our first room (405) was really nice to look at, and very spacious with a close proximity to one of the bigger pools, but smelt VERY strongly of diesel. We later discovered that it was next to the lift service room! We had read of another review saying similar (room 404).

In our opinion, it is appalling that the hotel is still trying to accomodate people in these rooms, fully aware of the situation. We complained, and they moved us the next day to room 422. However, the new room was smaller, with a inter-connecting door to the next room, which reduced privacy (as you can hear next doors iPhone charging!!!). The view was neither a pool view or the elusive side sea view that we paid for, more of a street view!

The next day we awoke to a taxi strike which lasted for two and a half weeks out of our three weeks! This was my third time in Rhodes and I was very much looking forward to seeing everything again and eating in some old favourite restaurants, which was very difficult considering the last bus back from Lindos was at around 8pm! Neither of us were 21 years old, so we could not rent a car unfortunately. We ended up eating in Konstantinos restaurant (just outside of the hotel) nearly every night, we would definitely recommend it. Service, atmosphere and food 5 stars! The two brothers who run the jewellery shop in the hotel lobby also own a taxi, which is why taxi to Lindos is always 5 euros more than back, as the hotel takes a cut. However Mr. Yannis did drive my boyfriend and me to Faliraki for half price because he lived in the next town and had to go home anyway, which was also a nice gesture.

We also tried the main restaurant for dinner but the food quality, price and service was horrendous. €16 just for the 'canteen style' starter and desert buffet without main course, with the main course it was €22 per person. We waited for ages to get the attention of the restaurant manager Savvas Papantoniou (of whom we will speak of more later) who begrudgingly showed us to a table.

Breakfast, served in the main restaurant, consisted of a choice of fruit, continental and american breakfast. All in all was good. Except the drinks, in every other 5* hotel I'm sure you'd expect to find water, or freshly squeezed orange juice complimentary? Here, 1 bottle of water was additionally €2.50 and a glass of orange also € 2.50, that's not what I would call an 'ALL INCLUSIVE BREAKFAST' at a '5* hotel' ! The 'orange juice' supplied free was watered down and tasted like cheap orange squash. There was never any water until we complained to reception and then suddenly Savvas was around to show us where it had magically appeared! How convenient for him! The funny thing was we had received fresh orange juice without any charge for the first half of the holiday and then suddenly it had sprung a price tag.

Now onto Savvas. On the brochure it clearly states that there is no dress code in the main restaurant for breakfast, however on my second morning I was approached by the man himself and told that he 'didn't like' my vintage lace summer dress which was apparently inappropriate for his restaurant! This was done publicly and in a humiliating manner and was by far my worst experience in any hotel I've stayed at!

After complaining to the manager, who was very helpful, Savvas never spoke to us again. He was vey cold, but that wasn't too much of a problem for us!

The grounds at the hotel are stunning ( though if you are coming back late they do turn the sprinklers on at night so be careful not to get wet and SLIP, as I almost did, OFTEN) , lots of choice of pools and a nice atmosphere all together!

Pani in the pool bar was fabulous, very friendly and hard working, Froso in the pool restaurant was also outstanding, along with Manollis in the main restaurant and Deja & Regina on the animation team, even though sometimes a bit persistent ;)

Remember this hotel is in Kalathos and NOT Lindos, so don't expect too much of the surroundings, MoVida bar is horrible, the cocktails are much cheaper than in the overpriced hotel bar, but indeed, much worse! The atmosphere is sleazy, so watch out!

Still very impressed. Service in restaurant was exceptional as usual, thanks to Savvas and his staff for looking after us so well. Reception also very helpful. Room was very comfortable. There was plenty of room on the pool terraces. Local bars and tavernas were very friendly, especially Ostria Taverna were we had a wonderful meal and the Movida bar. We'll be back next year!

This is a great hotel, my mum and I went for a girls week.

Food
We go B&B because we are foodies and like variety and eating in different places each night (half board/full board meals are taken in the main restaurant only). If you're not sure note that the hotel offers B&B guests the chance to opt into half board or full board per day for a fixed price. The hotels 'smart' restaurant Asterias is fantastic, also we recommend a couple of restaurants outside the complex, Konstantins for its excellent meat dishes and wines and Nikolaos for honest authentic Greek cuisine. Although the hotel is quite isolated, we find there is enough choice inside the hotel and outside to go B&B here, including a trip to Lindos per week.

The breakfast in the hotel is one of the best i've ever had in terms of both variety and quality- in particular the coffee is nice and strong which is rare.

Room
Upgraded to a room with private small pool and it was well worth it. it can get quite muggy in peak summer so its a nice to have a plunge pool. Also having a private terrace to sunbathe on is a nice luxury (although there is no shortage of sunbeds all around the grounds). we had a veranda covered in jasmine, its very pretty and quiet as we faced the garden borders.

Landscaping
The hotel is really beautiful with bright flowers everywhere. the lawns are green and well maintained.

Staff
All excellent

Facilities
There are so many pools here so you're sure to find one to suit you. we wanted to be quite active and there are some long pools in the quiet garden borders of the resort where you can do lengths. The gym is pretty well equipped and free. There is a convenience shop outside the complex and inside the hotel.

Entertainment
It hasnt changed much in the last 3 years, the same acts are coming back week after week. I think it could do with an overhaul, and perhaps more acts with audience participation like the belly dancer. For example a disco interrupted with interviewing children over the microphone is pretty tedious for adults.

A final suggestion to the hotel: we would like to see more incentives for your returning guests! You didn't know who we were on our second visit. But the stay was fabulous as expected.

Room Tip: Garden view room with private pool is fantastic

Just got back from the Atrium Palace and we were sorry to leave. What a fantastic hotel it was. This was our first visit to Greece and certainly won't be our last.Everyone was so friendly and helpful throughout our 2 weeks stay.No problems getting sunbeds at all, which has been a problem where we have stayed elsewhere.
The animation staff were particularly friendly and ensured we had a good time during the day and in the evenings. We very much enjoyed the Abba nights on Sundays, the 4 girls were very good and we enjoyed singing along.
In our opinion there were 3 staff in particular that really stood out and went that extra mile to make sure that everything was ok for us. Paris in the restaurant was very professional and helpful,Niki in the main bar was very helpful and always had time for a chat ( and gave me extra biscuits with my coffee ) and last but by no means least Pani who runs the main pool bar, what a smashing guy he is,professional, courteous and very friendly,he is a great asset to the hotel.
All in all an excellent hotel which we hope to return to in the future.

Stayed here with the family in July 11. Has a family suite which was ample big enough for a family of four - two large rooms and not all on top of each other with a sea view. Has a couple of issues in the room whic were sorted immediately. Our maid was fab - great sense of humour. Just did the B & B option although drinks in the hotel were a bit on the expensive side so could see the benefit of all inclusive for that. Kalathos is a lovely quiet resort. Great for relaxing by the pool or beach. There are a few good restaurants in walking distance. Mo Vida opposite the hotel did great basic food - baguettes, pizza, sandwiches, chips etc. Konstantins was great for good food. Great and friendly service at all the restaurants. Taxis were on strike the whole time we were there so getting around was not as easy as it might have been but not a problem. There were buses but these did not run late into the evening - 8pm seemed to be about the last one back from Lindos. Car hire easy and plenty available. Lindos is only about 5 mins down the road, Rhodes Town about a 30 min drive. Car hire is great for exploring further. Would certainly come here again.

My Mum and I recently spent a week at the Atrium Palace in Rhodes. We managed to pick a week when Rhodes was hit with a heat wave but apart from this I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and would definitely recommend it.

The hotel is INCREDIBLE. More like a castle with its own botanic gardens - the swimming pools were great and you can almost always get a sunbed. I do recommend putting out your towel early though to reserve one just in case.

The staff are all very friendly and I have to say worked tirelessly in the relentless heat. Pani at the pool bar in particular deserves a special thank you. He makes an incredible strawberry/malibu cocktail and really makes you feel at home.

There's interesting wildlife as well - keep an eye out for giant grasshoppers and the resident cats of the outdoor dining area. The two don't mix very well though.

The beach is a PEBBLE beach and the little rocks do get into just about every kind of footwear you can imagine. I recommend walking closer to the shoreline where the rocks are larger. They also heat up quickly so beware of walking barefoot around midday.

So as not to ramble here are some pluses and minues:

Pluses:
1) Stunning scenery
2) Great family/couples hotel - no rowdy/drunken groups
3) Good service and friendly staff
4) Amazing choice of places to swim/sunbathe and proximity to beach is great
5) Broad choice of food for breakfast/lunch/dinner
6) Local shop opposite hotel has best prices for miles (better than Lindos or Rhodes)
7) Absolutely stunning hotel. Its massive, you could spend days wandering around it.

Minuses:
1) milk provided for meals and coffees is UHT carton milk! Be sure to buy your own from the shop downstairs. It is worth it.
2) The deserts area is always swarming with flies so be careful not to eat things that flies have been on. You can see where they congregate and what they are avoiding. The ice cream is a safe bet because it's kept covered.
3) If you're British/American the choice of TV channels is appauling. All you get is CNN and BBC World News. The hotel claim to put on a film every night at 10pm but the films they chose were horrendous (if they remember to put it on) and once they played the same film twice. When I questioned them about it they said I should go out and look at the stars instead (this brings me on to point 4).
4) There's very little to do after the sun goes down. You're in a remote location and the in hotel entertainment is mostly for kids. Alcohol is expensive. I strongly recommend you bring a laptop/ipad and a supply of films.
5) There were only children's clubs and one ball provided for the crazy golf.

Overall I would give the Atrium Palace 4.5 out of 5 or even 5. It has a few minuses but all things considered really is a stunning resort with a lovely feel to it.

Room Tip: Don't go for the side sea view - the rooms are A LOT smaller and have terrible views. The full s...
