We stayed at Lindos Sun Hotel 17th. to the 31st August 2011.
The staff at the Hotel were all very friendly, polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. For example Margarita arranged for the breakfast to be ready extra early for us on the days we were going on trips.
The rooms, although simple, were clean – maid service each day – and had everything we needed (note no TV’s or tea making facilities in the rooms, which some people weren’t happy about!) The air con included in the price was great at night, as temperatures were about 29 degrees from about 7.30am and rose into the late 30’s during the day (the owner told us it had been in the 40’s the previous 2 weeks!)
The pool had enough (free) sun beds / umbrellas for everyone, no matter what time of day. The sun beds now have cushions on them, but unfortunately the beds aren’t adjustable, so difficult to sit up and read. The new kidney shaped pool was always clean, however it’s 1.5 meters deep all over– i.e. no shallow end, so not good for short people or children.
The pool bar severed delicious food, not the cheapest, but freshly prepared and cooked. From baguettes to Greek dishes to burgers etc. The bacon burger and souvlaki were to die for. Prices were from 2 euros for cold drinks, 1.5 euro for tea / coffee and from 4 euros for food.
The breakfast was a mixture of cooked stuff, continential, cereals, fruit etc and each day the choice was different. The evening meal offered something for everyone.
The hotel is set in lovely gardens, and isn’t massive, just the right size for a relaxing holiday. There is nothing much around the hotel, Lindos is a 20 minute walk up hill, there is a footpath and street lights, while Pefkos is about an hour’s walk away, with no street lights, no footpath and up a very steep winding road.
Busses run to Pefkos every hour during the day but be warned they don’t come back very late (last bus 9-50pm), so don’t rely on them for a night out in Pefkos. Bars, shops, and a decent beach. Bus was 1.6 euro each way and took 10 minutes. Very patchy service, always 20-30 minutes late and usually full.
Busses run to Lindos as well – 10 minutes, 1.6 euro each way, again very patchy service.
Rhodes town is about 5.5 euros on the bus, takes about 1.5 hours, again service is very random, and a lot of the time the bus was rammed and didn’t stop at Lindos Sun.
Nearest beach was Bay of Navarone (where some scenes were filmed for the film the Guns of Nararone), about 10-15 minutes walk from Hotel, very pebbly beach, and a lot of junk washed up on the beach. Note, there is nothing else here, no toilets, no beds, no bar etc, just a couple of hotels further down. Not many use this beach, we shared it with a dozen goats when we went down. Locals tend to use it on a Sunday.
Bay of St Paul is about 15-20 minute walk up hill then down a steep road, the beach is better, and beds, bar and toilets!
Two companies in Lindos offer trips, a lot cheaper than Thomsons, and we didn’t have any problems using Island of the Sun tours.
Great hotel if you want to be away from everything and enjoy brilliant service.
Apparently they have plans for a tennis court and a spa to be built on the site where the old pool used to be.

Room Tip: We had room 311, the terrace was great as it was shield from the mid day sun, lovely view.

Four of us enjoyed a very relaxing and pleasant stay at this hotel. We were very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff throughout our stay - particlularly the bar staff and reception. The environment of the hotel is lovely and it has a very nice ambience in the evening after dinner. Great pool and snack bar and, yes, the sunbeds now have very comfortable cushions on them! The evening meal was far better than we imagined with an excellent choice, often hot, and delicious. Rooms are fairly basic and on the small side but as we were out exploring Rhodes and the beaches most days, we spent little time in them. Great value given the cost of eating out in Lindos - an easy 15 min walk for most.

Although arriving at 4 in the morning we were well looked after.
Having a great time but go home late Saturday do sad. For those that complain about hard sunbeds as of the 1st August new soft coverings arrived and make the joy of sunbathing bliss in the old bum and back. I note a comment about food during our stay I have to say the food is brill plenty of choice and plenty of it too and not a chip to be seen at evening meal time.... If you want chips then I suggest you have them at lunch time by the pool from lovely Peggy... Ask her about her specials of the day too. More to follow when we get home all positive tooo. Taxis have been in strike during our first week but are up and running fir the last two days how long for who knows...

We stayed at Lindos Sun for 2 weeks and had a super time. The hotel is small and our room was basic but with a nice terrace and lovely grounds. We went half board which was all buffet-style which suited us. The food was excellent with plenty of choice on the menu each evening. The poolside bar was good for a lunchtime snack too. The boys that worked in the bar each evening were good fun and very polite - they even remembered our choice of drink each evening, and served us the wine we liked at dinner. In fact the staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us.

Lindos town is an uphill walk away but you can get a bus or taxi. It is probably crowded in July/August so I wouldn't recommend a visit in those months, especially as the lanes are very crowded and shared by donkeys that give rides.

We hired a car via the hotel and found many small villages where we stopped for lunch and were amazed that in the remotest part of Rhodes up a mountain the cafe/bar owner spoke excellent English. The freshly squeezed orange juice is a must-try.

The nearest beach is a walk away but if you're fit and got all day why not try it? Again it might be crowded in the high season, but in May we had an overall excellent holiday.

We arrived at the lindos sun hotel july 3rd just after midnight and was greeted by polina,it was a genuine warm welcome, given a plate of food and shown our room. The room is basic but all you need really and you do warm to it.You have a noisy fridge which we just turned off at night and the air con which is vital in such heat.We have never experienced heat like it ,it was in the 40+ for the next 10days we were there and reached 50 one day!! so take plenty of suncream and cool clothes. The dining area is lovely and breakfast was buffet style and you always had a good breakfast cereals, toast, eggs, bacon etc really nice, teabags yuk.The pool is great one depth throughout but great in such hot weather, sunbeds are crap, the cloth ones are a danger and the white plastic are well hard so you take a lilo or pillow off your bed.The poolside bar is manged by Peggy and the food is brill,we had a baguette with ham&cheese salad or salami & cheese, these were 3 euros each, really yummy,a dish of chips 2 euros and a coke each ,
all soft drinks are 2 euros water 1ltr 1-50
large bottle of Meythos 4 euros we shareda bottle as it got warm too quick
draught is 4 euros I think
crisps 2 euros
a lovely lunch here good value,a good plateful and it tastes good.great chips.

The bar opens at 7pm along with the dining room.Stavros heads the bar, margerita,Eri & Miklalos serve drinks and tend to the dining room, these are really lovely warm people and are so friendly and easy to get along with,we really enjoyed thier company. The food was varied and the chefs soup was divine, best soup i've tasted, the meals were ok but didn't like all the menu but then he had to cater for all nationalitys and there is always something to eat,all in all very good. The cleaners came every morning to our room 210 & and again was friendly anf thorough ,we had a lovely view of naverone bay the spot we was in was lovely the brochure doesn't do it justice as all the flowers are in bloom now,its breathtaking.Every member of staff always had a genuine smile and hello,a pleasure to meet them all.We will go back here a lovely hotel and staff.Be careful of the scorpions!!! we saw one on our wall and Margerita told us they come down off the bouldres and bathe on the walls just steer clear and they will not bother you, loadsa mosquitos we had to find a chemist to get spray to stop them biting so take repellent if you usually get bit.The walk to lindos town is 20mins and quite a trek in the heat but we got kinda used to ittake water with you,its worth it,a lovely walk meeting the donkeys and goats on the way. Then you see the acropolis this is 5-50 euros each,go into the square and get a bus timetable and map of lindos from the tourist board.icecream is 1 euro for 1 scoop here, theres a free shuttle bus from here to the beach.Bus to rhodes is 5-50 each and pefkos is 1-60.didn't like either, rhodes is just shop, touts and more shops and pefkos is like ingoldmells!! but glad we went to see them. The supermarkets in lindos are cheaper soft drinks are only 60cents,crisps 1-35 water 1 euro,so quite a saving we just stocked the fridge up when we went.A must is the glass bottom boat at the small beach this is 12-50 each and a great hour out,the boat stops so you can have a dip so take your bathers. All in all a great holiday here lindos is a lovely place just a shame we met some orrible people at the airport and on the plane ,yes, the brits, shocking really.
Have a great time here,we did.

Room Tip: loved our room 210 overlooking garden on ground level and naverone bay , the first floor level would...

We stayed at the Lindos Sun for two weeks in June on a half board basis. The hotel itself is very conveniently situated outside of Lindos, away from the hustle and bustle of a very busy town. As other people have commented, the location involves a walk into Lindos or taking a taxi/bus. We found it to be a pleasant walk into Lindos, especially in the evening, a walk which took us no more than 20 mins but then we are quite active and fit. For people who are not regular walkers the hill and the heat of the day may prove to be problematic.
The room was basic but clean, it was fairly spacious and had lovely views of the sea and pool area. (Room 412) The staff are all friendly and helpful and we have no complaints about the service provided. It was useful having and fridge in the room and essential to have the air con.
There are some niggles however and these have been mentioned before. I will mention them again and perhaps either the hotel will make some changes or the tour companies will request the hotel to address these issues.
The food was not great - it was always only ever lukewarm, this is not only unappetising, it is a health risk especially with chicken and rice which was sitting around for up to two hours sometimes. We understand some people loved the food here but I guess it depends on what you are comparing it to in terms of standards. If it is quantity you are looking for, then Happy Days, as it is a self service buffet. However if you are looking for quality you will be disappointed. We compared it to school meals and many others agreed with us. Food was often overcooked, too salty or just bland. Maybe we are just good cooks and were expecting too much but in any case we had dinner in Lindos on a few occasions which was vastly preferable.
There is a dog, sometimes chained up but sometimes roaming free, which appears to belong to the manageress, we too heard reports that he had bitten two people in the week prior to our stay. There was also usually some unpleasant fouling by the dog on the grass along the path at the back of the hotel, this was on the way to our room and was not often cleared up.
Finally the sunbeds! Mostly hard plastic ones without adjustable backs so only one position and no cushions or mattresses, so they were exceedingly uncomfortable. So much so that we only went to the pool twice.
In case you are wondering - we did raise all of these points with our holiday representative (Olympic) while we were there rather than just complaining here. However we did not notice any improvements.
Finally on a cheerful note, Rhodes is lovely, the weather was fabulous, many amazing places to visit and the people are lovely. We would also recommend Zeus Rent a Car in Pefkos.

For a basic Greek hotel the Linos Sun was great. it was spotless, the staff were friendly and the food (half board) was good. The swimming pool was quite new and always clean and there were ample sun beds for all those who wanted them.

It was a bit of a walk into Lindos village (10 -15 mins) which was a bit of an effort in the heat but it was not unpleasant and there is a bus service if needed. The nearest shop was located there.

The hotel also put on a free Greek night which was good fun and everyone in the hotel joined in - staff and guests, young and old.

There is plenty to see on the island of Rhodes and this hotel is a good base to travel from. An excellent holiday.
