Just returned from a great holiday at the Lindos Sun Hotel. The staff are very warm and welcoming to all their guests. Rooms are typically Greek, ie no frills, but very comfortable, air con is free, and the maids clean every day. The meals are excellent, with a wide variety to suit all tastes. The pool is fantastic with a level depth of 1.5m, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, and a great pool bar for drinks and snacks. Lindos town is a little further away than would have liked, but we walked it a few times OK and we are in our 60s. If you don't want the exercise, just ask at reception for a cab and your soon in the heart of Lindos town. Not much more to say than if you enjoy your stay half as much as we did, you'll have had a wonderful holiday. Efkharisto Lindos Sun.

Room tip: Ask for sea view.

We stayed here from 3rd-10th July 2013. Having never visited Greece we decided to give Rhodes Island, and especially Lindos a try. What an absolute gem we found!! Starting with the weather - stunningly hot every day, 26 to sometimes 32 degrees!

Hotel - Natasha and her team are wonderful! Friendly is an understatement - I cannot stress enough how welcoming and helpful all members of staff are. Always on hand to make you your favourite cocktail or give you advice on the local area!! There was always plenty of room by the pool and plenty of beds available. There is also a snack bar open in the afternoons for lunches, drinks and ice-creams. Reasonably priced and added to your room bill. We ate here whilst waiting for our transfer on the last day and the food was very delicious.

Rooms are pretty standard and basic, aircon is included, (no TV - not that you need it!), very clean (and cleaned everyday) and ours had a balcony with a sea view. There is not a safe in the room - the safes are located by reception where you can also access free WIFI. We stayed in room 321, absolutely gorgeous views. We had a shower room with toilet and sink - once again, cleaned everyday and shower worked perfectly. Rooms also have a small fridge that can be noisy at night - we just turned ours off at night and things stayed cold until the morning. There is no kettle, so if you like a cup of tea or coffee in the morning, take a travel one!!

Food - we stayed half board and found no problems with the food - all buffet style - we were impressed with the selection on offer each morning and evening. Even if you arrived late for either meal there would be enough left as food is always being replenished. Breakfast was usually full continental cooked breakfast including cereals, cold meats, fruit juices, pastries, dried fruit, fresh fruit, yoghurt, bread etc. Everything you could want. (The tea and coffee aren't brilliant however - take your own from home!) Evening meal again was plentiful and impressive - 4 or 5 different mains to select from, including a vegetarian option. There was always a supply of chips & potatoes, (for the Brits that like their home comforts!) and a selection of fresh salad, dips, olives, cheeses, vegetables, bread etc. Dessert was also provided - a different dish each evening. There was also a BBQ one evening which we very much enjoyed! We tried all the Greek dishes on offer and enjoyed each one!! Drinks are reasonably priced at the bar and the lovely girls could always remember our room number and what drinks we liked - try the local Mythos beer, light and refreshing!

The location of the hotel is exactly between Pefkos and Lindos town, Pefkos is a definite bus or taxi ride away as the walk is impossible and very steep. Buses are regular (yet sometimes late) and about 3euros one way. Taxis only cost around 6euros each way (sometimes they will pick u up from the hotel and give a cheaper rate as they are passing through) Lindos is walk-able, however be prepared as it is quite steep and long in the midday heat, I would say around 20 minutes at a normal pace. Walking back from Lindos is not as bad however, majority down hill and we found we walked back most evenings had we been out for drinks. In our opinion, we found that we preferred Lindos to Pefkos, Pefkos is more touristy with a bar strip and lots of 'English' & 'Irish' pubs.

You will find that Lindos is un-spoilt and idyllic. Lindos town is thriving of an evening with a buzz! Drinks range from 5-8 euros for cocktails whilst the local beers around 3euros. All the shops are open late of an evening so there are plenty of families wandering around. We felt very safe in Lindos and on the walk back from Lindos town. The Greek people are lovely! So friendly and chatty - always willing to help or entertain. We walked up the Acropolis which is well worth the 5/6euro charge each. Stunning views! We walked up around 3.30/4pm and found we had to come down pretty quickly as it was very hot, I would recommend going up first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon/early evening. You can get a donkey to the top for 5euros each way but that does not include the entry fee. The walk up is not that hard, takes around 15/20 minutes but is very slippery as the stones have been worn over thousands of years so wear good footwear & splash on plenty of suncream!!

We ate out a couple of times in Lindos and found the food reasonably priced, plentiful and delicious. I would definitely recommend Stefanys restaurant. All the restaurants and bars are rooftop tavernas with stunning views of Lindos and the Acropolis. Again, friendly local waiters and waitresses.

Must sees: St. Pauls Bay is the most beautiful place I have ever seen! The beach is not that big so get there early to avoid disappointment. Sun beds are about 6euros each - pretty standard price but the views are breath-taking. You can see the Acropolis to one side and there's a small church in the corner. The sea is clear and the sand is golden. It's such a gem of a place! A walk downhill all the way was easy - around 10 minutes from the hotel - however - the walk back up the hill is not for the faint hearted!! Very steep so take it easy and take plenty of water.

Rhodes town - We visited Rhodes town on the bus - about and hour away from Lindos, I think it only cost around 6euros each. Rhodes is meant to be very historical yet I found it quite westernised and touristy. I was quite disappointed. We walked around Rhodes old town then got pestered in the new town by all the bar/restaurant staff. Food and drink we found expensive (as we found to our dismay- two pizzas and two drinks for 25euros) so we didn't stay longer than a few hours. We definitely preferred Lindos.

Some people on here note that they had problems with mosquitos and over the week, neither of us got bitten once. However, on the plane home I met a girl who had been savaged by the little things and was bitten all over so I guess it is just pot luck! We closed the windows at night and sprayed our legs with repellent before going out.

Overall, as a young couple, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would maybe next time hire a car to make travelling to places easier so we could explore the Island abit more, however cars are not allowed in Lindos town. If you did want to hire a car the hotel are more than willing to help you book one, they have all the information. Plenty for us to do, the nightlife in Lindos was buzzing enough for us but if you wanted a more 'wild' night out, I would suggest a trip to Pefkos of an evening.

We definitely 'Came As Guests - Left As Friends' (&made some new friends whilst there - Hello John, Chris and family!!)

Thank you to Natasha and her team for making our stay so enjoyable - we will definitely come back to this little slice of paradise!!

Room tip: Ask for a 1st floor room (sea views) - we stayed in room 321.

This hotel was just what we were looking for. We didn't want a huge impersonal 5* resort where you wouldn't feel like you were in Greece. My partner hadn't been to a Greek Island before and this hotel was so clean but had a lovely traditional feel to it. The staff did not stop cleaning or serving drinks and food from dawn til dusk and beyond.

I think we were lucky with our room, large bathroom, balcony and 2 beds pushed together in a large room. All spotlessly clean. Fridge in room, was a bit noisy of a night, we just switched it off overnight-not a problem. Air-con worked perfectly, yes you can hear it a little at night as you would expect. Lovely sea view, worth asking for higher room. There is no in room safe, you can hire one at reception though. The only downfall in the bathroom was the shower. The head would fall off frequently with water pressure changes and the shower curtain stuck to you and then gaps around the edges let water out not the floor. Saying that the temperature and water pressure was much better than a lot of places we've stayed at. The cleaners were ever so friendly and worked hard at keeping things tip top. So even with a wet bathroom and mats, the next day all was sorted again.

Reception were always friendly and helpful and the staff around and about always said hello with a smile and asked how our day was.

Breakfast and dinner buffets were lovely. We were a bit worried by other reviews, but for the size of hotel I cannot see what else they should provide. There was cereal, fruit, yogurt, cooked breakfast, breads and all spreads. OJ and coffee on tap. Dinner always had salads and fruits, rice, pasta, turkey, pork, chips, potatoes, fish and a dessert table. There was always something we fancied. It's not a huge selection, but for approx 40 rooms you cannot provide for everyone's taste 'just in case'. The waste would be huge. I think they have it just right. We ate out once in Lindos to see the sunset views, this can break up a week of buffet meals too.

The pool was lush! This is not a wild party hotel. It was generally quiet around the pool, but not horribly so, people could just be themselves but doze off too! We've been to big all inclusives and this was a lovely change. After the hustle and bustle of Lindos and the local beaches we always had a nice chill out by the pool. It was perfectly clean and maintained.

All the grounds were spotless, there was always someone cleaning or maintaining the grounds.

We asked how to walk to the nearest beach, which ended up only 5 mins away. You can see the Aqua blue water from the pool so we had to get down there! It was amazing, so blue and clear. Good snorkelling too.

We didn't hire a car, we walked or got Taxis in and out of Lindos. Taxi to Pefkos beach which is also lovely and Rhodes old town. The hotel has all the bus timetables and the bus stops are just outside. We found it a bit too hot for all that (39 deg still at 6pm one evening!) so a door to door air con taxi was much better!

All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. It is in between Lindos and Pefkos, so if you want shops, restaurants and nightlife a few steps away then this wouldn't be for you. But a quiet retreat nearby is perfect!

Just returned from the lindos sun hotel for the second year running , and I could have re printed our review from last year .Yet again the staff were v helpful, hardworking, polite and any other adjective you can think of . The food was again varied to suit all tastes, the rooms extremely clean and comfortable although still no new sun beds but we hear they are in the pipeline for another year. What is really great is when you have to come home you leave feeling like family. What a great place to stay as we have said before truely a jewel in the crown.

We have just spent 14 glorious nights at this amazing hotel. We have had 3 holidays with Lindos Sun so it says it all really. The rooms are lovely, always kept clean by 2 lovely ladies, beds changed reguarly and if you want extra pillows for comfort, anything ,just ask, nothing is too much trouble. We had a top floor room this time no.322 and had a picture postcard view over the pool and bay .All rooms have free aircon which is gift really and a fridge. All the meals here are in my opinion varied and very nice indeed, you really don't need to venture out for food as the snack bar run by Athena and Xenia provides a great menu at very competive prices.Tried cheeseburgers, various salads, chips, all very tasty and well presented a lovely meal here.ice-creams and cold drinks are also here during the day.Breakfast is catered for everyone, cereals, toast, continental selection, egg, bacon, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, sausages, jams ,pastries, fruit, yoghurt.etc etcquite a selection isn't it?cold juice or tea and coffee whicich is not provided in the evening as the bar is open ,a large draught Mythos is 3.80 and is served in a cool cold glass out of the fridge, all soft drinks are 2euros.The evening meal is delish we always had the Chefs soup to start,Elias makes a mean soup, always a different one each night.Again there is a varied choice of meals from salads to vegetarian ,always a varied menu of meat, potatoes either chips, jacket maybe one night then another it was mash. There is a good choice and someone would always be able to find a meal here to suit their tastes, its bbq night on sunday and Elias cooks outside this is not to be missed. The staff here are hard working and can have more than one role they all work as a team and are the most happiest, approachable people we have ever had the priveledge to meet, they are very sincere and are always on hand to assist you in any way, should you need it.Natasha the manager is lovely as all the staff are she runs a good buisness and she put on a greek night and certain staff who had already had a long day and Yota had finished work but came back to join in the evening ,they all danced for us ,I think that says it all really just how close these people are to each other.Thankyou Natasha. And then there's Polina who is on night duty, again she has a great personality, humour and we had quite a bit of fun with Polina (314 Polina ha ha),we are missing them all.The safe drawer in reception was 20euros for 2 wks, worth having It was very hot here and to cool down in the pool is divine. The walk uphill to Lindos is a trek in the heat but can be done in 20 mins, there is a bus-stop outside and a timetable in reception. There are no televisions in the room, no enertainment for children it is a peaceful place to stay very quiet a place you can come and laze by the pool in silence and read or just sunbathe. So this a just a glimpse of this beautiful place,I have just booked again for next year,THANKYOU ALL AT LINDOS SUN.xxx

Room tip: We stayed in room 322 top floor and had a great view of bay etc obviousley steps up to this floor.Have stayed downstairs the rooms are just as nice. Our rooms have always been nice.
