“great time”
Reviewed 27 July 2007

Been to a few greek isles over the years and stayed in some pretty ropey accomodation so we were in for a very pleasant suprise when we arrived at the lindos view, the bar, reception and restraunt and pool areas were 4 star, the apartments themselves were more like 3 star but no complaints, very clean and spacious. Staff were all lovely and hotel night entertainment was great.
The resort itself is reached by a very steep bank, all right going down but a killer going back up! there is a shuttle bus until around 3pm after that a taxi is only 3 euro. We never experienced a bad meal everywhere was welcoming and served great food.
We did find as a family of 4 we spent a lot more than normal as Lindos is visited by all the tourists on the cruise liners is seems to push the prices up but overall it was worth every penny.

hi there,
just arrived back from a lovely hot week in LINDOS staying at the LINDOS VIEW APARTMENTS, on arrival we were pleasantly suprised on how lovely the hotel was and the view was spectacular across the bay and Acropolis. The brochures certainly dont do it justice. HOWEVER, if you wanted a relaxing day by the pool, forget it. What is with the BRITISH that they have to allocate 'their' sunbeds by 8am in the morning and dare anyone who put towels on their sunbeds where they like to sit. Every day the same faces sitting in the exactly the same spots giving daggers, even putting towels on for kids who spent most of the time in the pool. Quite RIDICULOUS!!! we like a leisurely morning with no particular rush however if you werent on a bed by 9-9.30am forget it!!! I much prefer the beach, however with a child who'd made lots of friends in the hotel we found it necessary to utilise the pool area so she could play. If we went to the beach for the morning, finding a space round the pool in the afternoon was near on impossible but half the time no-one was on the beds just towels. Isnt it about time this allocating beds is stopped. I know of some reps who actually throw towels in the pool if they are put on beds early. I think the reps here should do the same as its the only thing that let the hotel down!! The resort itself is fabulous, however the walk into LINDOS is steep (WALKED OUR FOOD OFF THO!) and sometimes dangerous with the TAXI drivers who only seemed to have one speed. The choose of restaurants was fantastic and if you are going up the hill to the acropolis go early eve or first thing as in JULY its a killer!! The Restaurant in the hotel is a must too. Food was impeccable....... and visit RHODES OLD TOWN too..... stunning architecture but beware the temperature is even hotter as its built up, as we found out going during the day!! Overall the holiday was great and would def visit LINDOS again, just cannot get over our fellow brits and sunbed mentality!!

have just arrived back from stayin in these appartments and they are the best!! we did look round and its true they are the best.
like you who is readin this i was little apprehensive as to what to expect as we like nice holidays good accomodation. but i need not have worried.
the location great as not in the centre of it but easily reach it about ten minute walk but it is downhill and slightly steep. take flat shoes girls!! there loads to do in town roof top restaurants small bar lively bars. we are 26/27 it was lively enough for us the antika bar was fab really trendy good music!! but there are quiter bars if you want them. whatever your taste quite or lively there something there.
the pool was great clean bar area and pool side was done out really modern and nice. bar staff excellent. great snacks during day and restaurant was fab at night prob one of best. had entertainment on most nights and cannot fault one member of staff they went out there way to help you.
the grounds and view of acropolis were amazing .
it definetly exceeds 3 star we were in old room and not great but new one were fab!!
although one word of advise do not book with kosmar as they have the old room on the complex.although they do have few new one ther not many about 8 at most so i would advise to go with thomson you may pay little more but worth it.
i will definetly be goin back as the best hol we had.
it came on recommendation to me so take my recommendation and see for yourself

Just got back from a week staying in the Lindos View apartments and i had to write to say what a fantastic time we had, and what a great hotel it is!

I went with my Girlfriend for a relaxing week and was recommended to Lindos by a couple who overheard us talking in the travel agents!

Having landed in Rhodes airport and driven to other stop off points to drop other holidaygoers at their hotels, we were a little pensieve as the standard of these hotels was a little (by which i mean a lot) below my expectations.

When we pulled up outside the lindos View we couldn't believe our luck...it looks great on first arrival. It is a clean, modern, spacious hotel and looks like it should cost a lot more than we paid for it. We noticed that Thomsons had awarded it best hotel in Greece on not less than 5 occasions. Well deserved methinks!

We arrived in the middle of a heatwave and so were glad to pay the money for the air conditioning, however if it had been any cooler i may have questioned this...but in scorching weather they do have you over a barrell a bit so i wasn't going to refuse.

Our room was clean and modern with more than ample space for the two of us. The bathroom was lovely and the beds comfortable, however the kitchen was found wanting for any self catering we might have wanted to take part in! With only 2 small hobs (which took forever to boil a pan of pasta on) and a distinct lack of useful utensils (eg a chopping board) this might have been problematic if we had been intending to cook our own meals daily. As it was the kitchen facilites were adequate for our jam on bread breakfasts and sandwich and crisp dinners. There are plenty of good restaurants about so why waste time cooking for yourself?

The hotel pools were clean and never overly busy, but as we went before the school holidays there weren't too many kids over the age of 4. I expect it might get a little crazy and noisy during peak season.

The hotel bars was lovely and well stocked, and the restaurant upstairs was great and well worth a try. I'd go as far as to say that it was as good a greek restaurant as any in Lindos (any that we visited anyway) al;though it does lack the charm and atmosphere of the roof top eating to be found in the village itself.

The village is a short walk away (10 minutes max) but it is a pleasant walk, if a little steep. I wouldn't fancy pushing a push chair up and down that hill everyday or evening. Older people may also struggle, although the taxi fair is reasonable (5 Euros) and it is well worth spending at least one evening in the village.

We didnt actually visit the village during the day time due to the copious amounts of tourist coaches parked at the crest of the hill. I dread to think how claustrophobic the narrow streets of Lindos feel at peak times...i felt a little enclosed on the quieter evenings, especially at first when we were unfamiliar with the areas, and felt like we'd stumbled upon a greek labyrinth. The town is beautiful when the sun goes down though and the views of the old ampitheatre and the acropolis perched atop the hill are fantastic.

It is worth renting a car or getting a bus up to rhodes which is also a beautiful town and more than deserving of a thorough exploration.

Lindos is a fantastic place for a relaxation holiday but don't go expecting much opportunity to party hard. Although there are a few really nice bars, these close relativley early and the one club we did visit was, simply put, crap. That said if that's what you're after there's faliraki up the road...so stay there!

All in all we had a surprisingly lovely holiday

We stayed here for the first two weeks in June and after reading some of the previous reviews, were pleasantly surprised. We had one of the older rooms, in which the furniture was a little "tired", but we had a view straight across to the Acropolis, which more than made up for it! The room was clean and tidy and the linen and towels changed every day by the very cheerful housekeeping staff.
The hotel is on a main road, but traffic noise wasn't too much of a problem. We had no trouble at all getting loungers around either of the pools at any time of the day, although there were a few people there who were non-residents, so i could see there being some problems in high season.
Lindos itself is lovely, although it can be a bit of a nightmare when lots of tour groups arrive at once. The hill up and down to the village was nowhere near as bad as described-my husband and i are not exactly superfit but we managed to walk it every night. There is a free shuttlebus which runs from 11am til 3pm, which you can catch from the bus stop-a five minute walk from the hotel.
We had lovely meals at Alex's, the Delight and the Casa della Pizza. We had the worst meal we have ever had in Greece in a restaurant called the Lindos. The food was almost inedible, and the wine was equally bad! Apart from that, all places we tried were nice enough. The only problem was that almost all of the restaurants are rooftop and it was incredibly windy when we were there. It's a bit of a challenge eating and drinking in those conditions, although it was lovely to have such a breeze during the day.
Overall, this was a good hotel in a great location if you want to experience Lindos.

My partner and I booked a week in Rhodes with Thomson in May 2005. It was an 'allocation on arrival' deal, although we were guaranteed one of 3 hotels. When we got to Rhodes and discovered we were going to the Lindos View, we were delighted - and we were even more pleased when we actually got to the hotel. The reception area is beautiful - marble floors, etc - and the room we had was fantastic. It was much bigger than we'd expected and really clean, with a gorgeous bathroom. Overall, it was much more luxurious than we'd anticipated - a great start to the week!

We didn't spend a great deal of time at the hotel other than in the room at night, but the staff we did deal with presented no problems. The pool areas were nice - clean and not too busy (this may have been due to the time of year). The water was FREEZING though! Not that we minded too much, it was a welcome relief from the heat!
The view from the hotel was good too - you could see right over to the Acropolis. And there was a convenience store just down the road (within walking distance) where you could get food, drink, and general holiday items and souvenirs.

Lindos itself was lovely - full of souvenir shops and restaurants to explore, with beautiful mosaic-tiled streets. The locals did come out to try and entice you into the restaurants and shops, but they weren't aggressive or anything, and they were friendly to deal with. We found the rooftop restaurants were a particular novelty - definitely try to go to one at least once!
Lindos beach was really nice too. The sand got really hot in the afternoon, so take flip-flops! The water was lovely, and great for snorkelling - we spent ages in there looking at all the fish!
We also took a stroll up to the Acropolis... or should I say 'climb'?! We didn't mind the climb too much, although the sheer drops by the side of the path were a bit worrying! And I did find the path a bit slippery at times (it is mosaic tiled and I was wearing flip-flops with no grips on the sole!). Once we got up there it was nice to walk around and look at the ruins, and to enjoy the views over Lindos Bay (great for photos).

We went on a number of excursions during the week (we got the details from our Thomson rep), so here's a summary:

Faliraki Waterpark
As we travelled through Faliraki to get to the water park, I noticed how different it was from Lindos. Whereas Lindos has an authentic Greek feel to it, Faliraki was just like little Britain!! Convenience stores actually had signs reading 'Morrisson's', and there seemed to be a large number of British restaurants. Everything looked a bit grotty to be honest, so it really made me appreciate Lindos all the more.
The water park itself was a lot of fun, with lots of different slides to try. There was one which I should warn you about - it was really high and kind of a zig-zag shape (there were short drops interspersed with horizontal sections). My partner and I went on it at the same time and both of us were a bit shellshocked when we reached the bottom! As we were leaving the horizontal sections we'd both physically left the slide, hanging in mid-air, before dropping to the next section! Some people would probably love that kind of thing, but we weren't expecting it, so we got a bit of a fright!
The kids' section was good too - lots of fun activities which we had a go at ourselves!
There were lockers where you could put your belongings while you tried the slides, and a snack bar which sold drinks, chips, ice creams, etc. They had a gift shop too, selling souvenirs and snacks.
We had a fun day out here - definitely worth doing if you have kids to entertain, or if you want something a bit more interesting than a day by the pool.

Rhodes Town
We spent a day in Rhodes town, which was great for a number of reasons. We visited Mandraki Harbour, where the Colossus supposedly once stood, and had lunch at one of the many restaurants along the waterfront. We walked along the front and bought some souvenirs, and even got our portrait drawn by the side of the road, which was really nice. We went into Rhodes Old Town, which we both loved - there were so many gorgeous little souvenir shops. My partner found one that sold replica katanas (samurai swords) which he and his father are crazy about, so we bought one as a present for a bargain price.
I really loved our day in Rhodes - it was just really lovely to wander around, both the older part and the more modern waterfront part. I'd definitely go back here if I had the chance.

Scuba Diving
This excursion actually departed from Rhodes town (booked through the Thomson rep at the hotel), but we devoted a whole day to it. We had never been scuba diving before, but now we can't wait to do it again!! The instructors were great - most of them were actually British, so there was no language barrier, and they made sure you knew what you were doing before you got in the water. Everyone on the boat did one dive, and then there was an optional second dive later on for those who wanted to pay a bit extra for another go. We loved the first dive, so we did both!
We didn't go too deep as it was only a beginners' dive, but it was deep enough to feel like we were in a totally different world under the water. It was absolutely superb. The water was really clear and we got to see quite a few different types of fish - the dive leader even picked up an octopus to show us at one point, and we all got to stroke it! It took a little while to get used to how to move properly, and how to keep your balance with the tank on your back, but by the second dive I really felt like I was getting the hang of it. One girl who was with our group panicked a few times and had to keep going back up to the surface, but every time she did there was someone from the instructors team with her, making sure she was ok. They had a few of them snorkelling on the surface above the diving group, keeping an eye on everyone in case anyone needed help. It was really well organised and it felt totally safe, so we were able to enjoy the experience fully.
The dive leader even took photographs of each person while we were underwater, so you could pay a small price to take these home with you (we thought they were well worth it).
Overall, this was our favourite part of the entire holiday - I would recommend it to anyone!

Glass-bottom Boat
There were a couple of glass-bottom boats around Lindos Bay. All you had to do to book was go over to whoever was at the boat and ask if you could go on the next trip, and they'd tell you the times available and the prices, and you'd meet them there. They took small groups and pointed out the various marine life through the bottom of the boat. They took us out of Lindos Bay and around the shore a bit, and stopped at one point so people could jump in the water for a swim if they wanted to.
It was a pleasant tour which made a nice addition to a day at the beach. Well worth the money.

My partner and I had a great time in Lindos, enjoying the hotel itself, Lindos village, and the various excursions we went on. We would definitely go back and we'd recommend it to anyone, whether you're looking to get out and about or just laze on the beach. Loved it!

Just came back. Accomadation very basic with kettle, hair dryer etc. Cleaned daily except Sundays. Staff polite and helpful. 2 pools. Hotel was brilliant. More like 4 stars than 5. Toilets etc in hotel were spotless. Cleaner than some 5 star hotels in England! Would recomend for a quite and relaxing holiday.
