I have to admit I was feeling daunted by the climb up to the top of the Acropolis , I'm overweight/unfit and don't function well in the heat, and I would not inflict me onto a poor donkey but it wasn't actually too bad, although deffo not for the infirm. As you start heading up there are lots of "tourist tat" little stalls and shops, and stopping points as you start heading up the steps. Fortunately all of which are in the shade in the morning, so the time to go. If you do it bit by bit it's ok, and the views are well worth it. Personally I find it a bit of a shame there is a crane etc up there as the "restore" parts of it, to me this defeats the point of viewing " historical ruins" but glad we went up there...health and safety nightmare so not ideal for toddlers either.

Interesting partial temple of Athena. You cannot actually go into it, but can roam around outside and on the steps/columns surrounding it. The view from the top extends a long distances into sea. You can also get a nice take of Lindos Town from the top. I suggest taking the fun donkey ride during the heat of midday, there's no shade up near the top and it was very hot the day I was there. The walk back will force you past numerous tourist sales stands and restaurants.

The bus ride from Rhodes takes approx 60 minutes and was five Euro one way.

The walk up is not a problem if you're half way fit. There are different levels of history on view and the ancient Greek inscriptions are clearly visible on some stones - learn the Greek alphabet before you go to enhance your visit.

Walked thrue the narrow streets the way up.
Felt sorry for the donkey's the way they were packed together.
Great views

The acropolis is a 15-20 minute walk from Lindos village along some steep village paved roads which can be slippery but not a problem for our chlidren (11 and 9) or for us - just need the right footware. My boys took the donkey ride on the way back down and that was fun. The acropolis is interesting given the many layers of history. Some more detailed information onsite would be nice but guide books can be bought in town.
