We were fortunate to enjoy the most delightful visit to the Hotel Monteriggioni on our recent visit to Umbria and Tuscany in June. We had briefly visited Monteriggioni the previous year whilst on a wine tour. We spied the Hotel and thought that it would be an idyllic option for a stay at some point. We were not disappointed! Being at the tail end of a long three week Europe trip – we live in Hong Kong - we were feeling a little jaded at this point. The opportunity to sit in the beautiful garden relaxing with a book and a glass of prosecco was bliss! Gigi, the charming owner, very kindly chilled our shop bought bottle for us. Outstanding service – nothing was too much trouble for this gentleman! We were allocated a lovely, spotless room with a good sized bathroom. All bathroom amenities were of a high quality. And then we got to breakfast – I can honestly say I have never seen such a beautifully presented spread! The opportunity to sit out on the terrace added to the relaxing ambience and the pastries, bread and croissants on offer were simply divine! In addition there were the usual Italian breakfast staples of meats and cheese. Gigi could not have been more helpful in suggesting options for dinner – we went to his recommendation, Il Pozzo, and had a wonderful evening with superb food. One of the nicest things about staying the night in Monteriggioni is experiencing the calm that descends on the place once all the daytrippers have left for the day! We certainly intend to return. Thank you Gigi for being such a welcoming host.

This family-run hotel is built into the medieval wall of the tiny town, with a pleasant outdoor area. Each room is different, but ours was small (and bath even smaller) though comfortable. Our windows overlooked the garden of an adjoining restaurant, which did make the evening rather noisy. An ample buffet breakfast was included in the room rate.

Very nice small size hotel located between Siena and Firenze. Surrounded by medieval wall and towers, it offers the essence of traditional Tuscany. A nice please to get lost from the world and get a good book and enjoying reading with the view of the Tuscan hills. Nice restaurants nearby.

the place is so quite at this time of the year that you can really enjoy the silence

A boutique hotel in the most amazing setting. Views of Tuscany valleys including the town of Chianti. The management are fantastic and very helpful even giving touring recommendations. The managers daughter, Martina, even helped us with train bookings. Great breakfasts with amazing fresh pastries.
They have hundreds of TV channels but we did miss an English Channel. No CNN or BBC.
The showers are as small as you can get but the rooms are spacious.
There are a few restaurants in the Castello and you do not have to drive for dinner.

If you want to sample the idyllic dream of life in a medieval Tuscan village, a few days here are about as close as you can get without splashing out on a villa. You feel pretty special when you drive through the narrow gate into the town..just a little different to the tourists traipsing up the hill from the parking down below

The location is perfect for touring Sienna and the villages nearby.Try dinner in Scorgiana in the tiny cafe that spans the road at night. The hosts at the hotel are a local family with deep connections to the local wine industry.Take their advice on places to eat as they are well worth the drive.

Rooms are well equipped but would try to avoid the ones on the ground floor next to the road as passing walkers disturb your inevitable summer siesta!

Room Tip: Go for a room facing garden rather than street. Check that the medieval festival isn't on ( typi...

The hotel is in an historic building which dictates the size of the rooms. However, they are well appointed and the bathrooms were adequate - though the shower was a bit of a squeeze. Added bonus - there is a small pool which was a treat, set in a small but pretty garden where breakfast is served. Our room overlooked the street which was busy, but interesting as everyone was preparing for the Mediaeval festival that began the next day. Belongs now to a German chain - Romantik.

This hotel is in an amazing location in the center of Monteriggioni a tiny medieval town on the top of a small hill.

it is full of charme and it is worth to spend few days there. breakfast is good.

The swimmingpool is really small and the rooms are not generous in terms of sqm.
