“'Beautiful Limone'”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

We have recently returned from a fabulous relaxing trip to Limone on the stunning Lake Garda. Choosing the Park Hotel Imperial because of it's 5* rating, spa facilities and fine food reputation. With only 63 rooms it has an intimate feel that is often lacking with the big chain hotels. The facilities such as the Centro Tao wellness spa were first class and also open to non-residents which seemed popular but this did not impact on the overall service. The pool areas indoor and out were kept immaculately clean the gardens and Koi pond all very well maintained and really beautiful to look at. The staff really do make your stay special at this hotel. Everyone smiles meets your eye and greets you in Italian nothing is too much trouble. Previous reviewers have mentioned problems with the Maître D Gianni, we're happy to say that we had no such issues. This head waiter is extremely proud of his restaurant he runs an efficient service is welcoming to all guests more than happy to recommend a particular wine to your specific taste and knowledgeable about the local area. Do not hesitate to opt for half board the breakfasts are plentiful and the 5 course a la carte dinner is to die for with a different menu every night. We stayed in a garden suite which was a newer room in an annex decorated in an Italian style with a lovely big Jacuzzi bath, his n hers sinks and more privacy well worth the extra. Perhaps the only minor negatives are the lack of entertainment in the evening and the uncomfortable sun loungers. However do not hesitate to book this hotel you will not be disappointed.Signora Mitchell

Room Tip: Choose a suite in the annex worth the extra

We were there to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and wanted to take the complimentary bottle of champagne we found in our room down to the restaurant to be out on ice to enjoy with our meal. The Head Waiter Gianni refused to allow us to bring "our own wine" into the restaurant. We tried to explain it had been provided for us and was a special occasion but his whole attitude was condescending and rigid and uncaring. This spoilt our special evening. On a separate occasion I overheard him refusing to bring a guest a glass of white wine and soda because "this is something we don't do." I could sense the lady's embarrassment from behind me. It is a shame that such snobbishness can be allowed to spoil people's holidays. The rest of the staff were excellent and the hotel is wonderful

Dear Theonlybe,

Thank you for choosing Park Hotel Imperial to celebrate your 25th wedding anniversary. I am very glad you have had an enjoyable holiday with us, in Suite. I also renew here on Tripadvisor our most sincere congratulations and best wishes for a goal that today seems almost impossibile to achieve.
Let me clarify please the episode to which you refer and allow me to confirm that the behaviour of our Maître of the Restaurant, Mr. Gianni, was diligent in his role. The bottle of first class italian sparkling wine you found in the room upon the arrival, was our gift for you, to be consumed only in the room, as required by the regulations of all the hotels and not just in our. I regret of your words because the Maître Mr. Gianni is always very professional and very competent in helping guests choosing the most suitable wine having available more than 92 prestigious labels.
My staff told me that you have serenely enjoyed the dinner on your anniversary, and this makes me really happy, and also that you continued your vacation visiting back several times our restaurant, making you recommend the wines by our Maître.

I look forward to welcoming you again at Park Hotel Imperial.
With best regards

We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday at Park Hotel Imperial, 5* location beautiful scenery. Hotel facilities were great.

However, I would like to make people aware that we did have a problem with the restaurant. There are only a limited number of tables with a view at dinner. The restaurant manager will seat you at the same table every night. As it was a special occasion (engagement and birthday) we requested a table with a view by the window for one evening. The restaurant managers response was rude and made us feel very unwelcome. Guests stay at their given table for the whole of their stay, which I think is completely unfair. We did not feel welcome and preferred to go to a restaurant with a view so decided not to have dinner at the hotel restaurant for the following 2 nights.

So please be aware even if you have already paid for your meal the restaurant manager will not try to meet your requirements.

This is an excellent hotel in immaculate private gardens in a quiet area about ten to fifteen minutes walk from the centre of Limone. The hotel boasts an outdoor pool, and an indoor pool, which is an integral part of a therapy centre. The two-storey building embraces the pool on one side and overlooks Lake Garda in the distance.

The minute you arrive you feel welcomed and the staff are helpful attentive and knowledgeable. We had a room overlooking the pool with a partial view of the lake. The rooms are well furnished and immaculately clean and the linen is changed every day. One jarring note for us was the shower, which was located in the bath. For us this is not a happy compromise and a potential danger to the less agile in climbing over the side of the bath to get in and out of the shower. The tea making facilities in the room had colour co-ordinated plastic cups, not appropriate in a hotel aspiring to five star status, more reminiscent of camping.

There is an excellent buffet breakfast served in the breakfast room which has a terrace overlooking the pool and gardens. The breakfast buffet provides food to cover all tastes and a chef is in attendance to cook eggs in all their guises.

Afternoon tea provided for all guests is a delight with pastries and cakes obviously made by a talented pastry chef.

The hotel dining room overlooks the gardens with the lake and mountains in the distance. It is a well-appointed and service is calm and efficient and closely supervised by the headwaiter. There is an interesting wine list comprised of local wines from around the lake and the headwaiter is very knowledgeable about them.

Dinner consists of four courses with choices for each course. The food is generally very good, with high quality ingredients, and a lot of effort goes into its preparation and presentation. Pasta as usual was first class and we had some superb flans as starters. The fillet of beef and the lamb were excellent although on a couple of occasions the combinations a seemed a little eccentric, for example grilled pineapple with lamb.

This is a hotel to which we would happily return.

Room Tip: First floor rooms give partial view of lake

Dear Mimibel22,

Thank you for your comments, very relevant and precise. I just tell you that at the time of construction of the hotel, the bathrooms were designed by architects with bath / shower, held at the time very functional, but now during the restorations works made every year in winter, we are replacing the bath with a shower.
As regards the cups of the kettle in the room we ensure you that the choice of such material has been pondered and willed to avoid unpleasant incidents with hot drinks.

We hope to see you soon here at the Park Hotel Imperial, and I send you a warm greeting from a sunny Lake Garda

We spent a week in this hotel from 4th June to 11th June 2014, we have a general rule that it is a short life and we tend not to go back regardless of how good the hotel or location is, however with the Park Hotel Imperial we would make an exception.

This hotel has an eclectic mix of German, English and others staying with them all of whom got along nicely.

I will start with the room, we stayed in room 174 what would be a standard room. Not large but apart from that perfect in every way, cleaned to a high standard every day, turndown service and bedding changed often. On arrival there was a large bowel full of perfect fruit, also was a large bottle of Rose sparkling wine. The room is lovely, well designed with patio door to a nice balcony facing the pool. Bathroom is very Italian and very nice. My only small bit of negative feedback is that the TV channels are almost all Italian or German, the only two English channels are BBC World 20min reruns and CNN. I feel an effort needs to be made to improve this area by the hotel to be fair to their paying guests from the UK. My other slight bit of negative feedback is the WIFI. It was usable in the rooms and by the poolside which was good, however the hotel has a system where you have to get a wifi code from reception which lasts only 5 hrs. I found this annoying and frustrating having to go to reception 3 times a day. My advice is just give someone a code for the duration of their stay that logs off when they are not active.
We were half board which was a great choice. Breakfast is the best you will find anywhere, lots of choice, perfect setting, perfect produces it was an experience that was first class.
Dinner was also lovely, 4 courses presented perfectly, we did not have a bad meal all week. We chose local wines which were all lovely.
Staff, all the staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful, cleaning ladies, bar team where always happy and would say hello. Samantha and Jenny and the other reception team including the night staff were very helpful. The stars of the show however were the restaurant team headed by Giani.
Giani is the maitre d' (restaurant manger) He was first class in every way, able to switch languages from table to table, his suggestion of wines was perfect and he really made you feel special and welcome. He kept an eye on his team helped by Walter his No2, Alkert, Michael Francico, and a young lady who's name I did not get. All well trained, all very individual, all made a real effort to make dinner an enjoyable experience. If I was running a hotel group I would head hunt Giani he was at the top of his game and one reason why we would return to this hotel again.
The pool side is in my view the best poolside location we have had in all of the hotels we have been to. Perfectly formed pool, immaculately clean, surrounded by a path , then grass and gardens with just the right amount of sun beds. All with lake and mountain views, just perfect.
In summary, A 5* hotel that is very well run, has well trained staff, is in a perfect location both for views and so you can get into town (10mins). I would highly recommend this hotel but would suggest they would improve the wifi situation. Andy and Mandy UK

Dear Andymc 1136r,

many thanks for the beutiful words dedicated to Park Hotel Imperial and to all its staff, and thank you also for sharing your lovely experience with the readers of Tripadvisor. We are delighted to have exceeded all your expectations until you break up with your rule!
We are pleased to inform you that at the time of your stay we were already considering a modification to the Wi-Fi, which has now been done: the guest receives at check-in, without asking, a code valid for the whole lenght of the stay. The service is always free.
Talking about TV, we underscore that the Direction is very attentive to the customers of English language: numerous Sky channels, Sky Movies and Sky National Geographic have been introduced in the original language.

Hoping to welcoming you again in the future to the Park Hotel Imperial we remain,
With best regards

After spending hours looking for the ideal hotel to spend our 26th wedding anniversary I choose the Park Hotel Imperial. From the moment you drove through the security gates and walked into the gleaming reception you felt special. All of the staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for the receptionist, bar staff, waiters, porters and room attendants. They were 1st class in all that they did for us. Breakfast is buffet style with a choice of cereals, meats, fruits, cakes, yoghurt etc. and if you prefer something hot the chef will make you omelette with fillings of your choice or fried eggs to order. The views in the breakfast and dining room are a picture. Lunch and dinner is available in the hotel and light snacks can be ordered from the bar. We had wonderful views from our room overlooking the pool and gardens surrounded by mountains and the lakes. The shops and restaurants were a short walk away and we couldn't resist the cocktails and ice-creams served at the restaurant near the marina we had to return back the following day for more! Make sure you have plenty of battery life and memory in your camera as it won't stay in your bag for long every view was magical whether it was the ducks in the lakes, the sun coming down/rising, the mountain, flowers you just wanted to capture the beauty.

Room Tip: Higher floors give better views for the lakes

Shoulder season makes this 5 star property a sweet deal! We stayed three nights and were upgraded to a higher floor with stunning views of Lake Garda.
The front desk was very reserved but efficient, even walking us to our room to explain the amenities. We were traveling without a smartphone or laptop and using the computer with the assistance of the reception staff was helpful because the keyboard was not familiar to ourEnglish language.
The sliding door to the balcony was so solid and worked in many configurations. We left it open all night and the birds woke us like something out of a fairy tale.
The breakfast was bar none THE best I have ever had included in a package deal. The server made me a cappucino the first morning and remembered the next two days that was my drink.
This was a respite like none I have ever experienced. The cabanas were a perfect hideaway for reading and napping while the pools were refreshing.
Limone sul Garda is a lovely town with the ferry to Malcesine at the harbor. Staying this close to the water but being above the town with memorable vistas in all directions made this my all time favorite hotel.

Room Tip: Higher up gives you a better view.

Dear XCaliforniaGirl,

your review, for which I thank you, has transported me for one moment to a dreaming holiday and if the hotel wasn’t mine I’d really like to stay there!
I am very plased that the hotel and staff all have met your expectations in everything.

I take this opportunity to share with you one of the news 2014:
the new “Junior Suite Design”, decorated with transparency and lightness in shades of ivory to rest greeted by a warm atmosphere, which welcome guests with great brightness of windows overlooking the park of the hotel. Transparency created also minimizing the walls and using the crystal to separate interior spaces,

All this to make your next holiday even more unique and momorable!

Best Regards
