My boyfriend and I spent a fantastic holiday in Limone, staying 11 nights at the Hotel Splendid Palace. What a lovely hotel- great location within walking distance of the town, fantastic panoramic views, excellent service, friendly staff and wonderfood food with loads of choice. Limone itself is a gorgeous little town which is so quaint and plenty to see and do.
The only negative points to the holiday was the rubbish hair dryers in the hotel rooms (definately worth bringing your own), the rooms were not particularly sound proof and that we had to pay a tourism tax at the end of the holiday in order to stay in Limone which we had not been told of. Despite this, we would definately like to be able to return back to Limone sometime in the future and to experience its delights all over again. We would definately like to stay at the Hotel Splendid Palace.

Room Tip: Room 031 had a fantastic view from the balcony.

Having had a really good holiday in 2012 we decided to return a year later and were so pleased we did!!
We thought the food even better this year and if anything the staff were even more friendly, helpful and efficient. We were given a very good room by emailing in advance (it is really worth paying that little extra for the 'lake view' too!!

As this holiday was the start of birthday celebrations for my wife (being a gentleman I will not reveal how significant this year is!!) the hotel left a bottle of bubbly and basket of fresh fruit in our room.
We found Happy Hour an ideal way of setting the scene for evening dinner (gin & tonic on the terrace overlooking the lake is a real treat!!).

We would easily give this very friendly hotel (if slightly dated) full marks if only the shower cubicle was larger - it is so small that even we smallish sizes found it a little snug (our well built son would have difficulty fitting inside) in fact the shower in our caravan is bigger - it was difficult to pick up anything you dropped!! But heck it is only for twice a day? Apart from that the room was good and the'maid' very efficient!!

We love Limone (especially when the day visitors have gone) and are even now tempted to make it three years in a row and return in 2014.kk

We stayed at the Hotel Splendid Palace mid September with friends. We had lovely rooms on Floor 2, great views, and our balcony was complete private , not overlooked at all. Cleaning staff very efficient, who came in daily. All the staff including waiters, chefs, bar staff were friendly and helpful.
We went half board, as we do not like looking for restaurants every evening, and we made the right choice. The choices at breakfast and evening meal were fantastic. We were there 11 days and had something different each night. I like buffet service, the only small downside being that it is a bit hectic with everyone getting up and down and serving themselves, but that apart, eating in the hotel was very enjoyable.

We spent three days going on trips . Verona was lovely. Lots of street artists there too. Also of course the famous Juliet's balcony. Most of the other days we sunbathed in the little private lemon grove available to guests, but which you have to ask for the code to get into the secret garden. We don't think many people realised it was there.
On one evening as we sat in the square having a drink, some opera singers came and treated us to an hour and a half of various songs. They were fantastic. There was probably a couple of hundred people all seated in the square. They do these special do's on Sunday evenings. It was a lovely atmosphere. Limone is a lovely little place. Probably not for people with mobility problems as it is a bit of a slope walking back to the hotel.
All in all a very nice relaxing holiday. The only downside was nothing to do with the hotel, and that was that we had booked ten thirty evening flights from Verona home to Gatwick, so the last day was rather a long one, although the hotel very kindly looked after our luggage until the taxi picked us up . Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Floor 2 was fine, rooms 202 and 203 pretty good.

Stayed in Hotel Splendid Palace at the beginning of July with my husband and friends. II was totally unsure what to expect from a holiday by a lake but from the first minute we arrived in Italy, found it to be one of the most beautiful countries we had visited. Limone and the rest of the lake is very beautiful and upon arrival at the hotel were treated to the most fantastic views of the lake. The decor of the hotel is dated but the rooms are extremely clean. The food was excellent with an excellent choice and when we went for our day trip to Venice, we were given a packed lunch. The drinks at the evening meal were self service, with a plentiful supply of wine. Our room overlooked the smaller terrace pool, which was accessed on the way down to the town, via a locked door, for which you need the code to enter, which you get from reception. We used that pool all week as it was quieter and there were plenty of sun loungers and a lovely grass area to sunbathe. Limone was just a short stroll and had a plentiful supply of shops and some lovely cafes selling delicious pizza and ice cream. I would certainly recommend the excursion to Venice, which was a beautiful city. We did all the tourist bits, gondola ride was the highlight and not as expensive as we imagined it would be. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 202 overlook small terrace pool with excellent view of the lake
