“Could be so much better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Stayed for 3 nights in July 2014. Hotel listed as 4 star but we think that is too generous. We had a nice stay but there were some negatives. Positives first, fantastic location right on the lake in the beautiful town of Limone. The room although basic was a reasonable size, spotlessly clean and we had lots of hot water. Some of the negatives, the staff were not particularly friendly which is very unusual for Italy. We were on HB and the food was a bit hit and miss. We did, however, have a lovely table on the terrace overlooking the lake. The pool was nice but only had a few loungers. Most of the first floor area was given over to a terrace for outside guests who came in for lunch/dinner. At times it seemed that the non residents were given priority over residents. If just a third of the first terrace was given over to loungers for the pool it would have improved things. We booked last minute so our trip was under half the brochure price so we were happy. The full brochure price we feel was too expensive for the standard of the hotel.

We had a wonderful balcony with unrestricted view of the lake. We woke to hear the sound of the lake gently splashing on to the stones and to the ducks and birds singing. Bliss. The room was comfortable - nice bed, enough storage and air conditioning The ladies who cleaned the rooms did a very good job. There was a good choice for breakfast - continental and hot foods.

At dinner each evening we selected our choices for the next night - there was a good choice - always a fish or vegetarian option which I like - my other half found it a bit more difficult sometimes - but he always loved the cheese and crackers for desert. The wine and soft drinks prices were reasonable. We had an excellent waiter - Christian - who looked after us very well.

It was lovely to sit on the balcony in the evening. Would highly recommend this hotel for its balcony rooms which I consider excellent.. The golf buggy collected and brought us to the transfer coach - for airport and excursion. Our flight was delayed arriving but the hotel left sandwiches and water in the room for us. I loved the fact that we were staying in such a historic hotel - from 1902 (I think)

Just returned from a weeks stay in the All' Azzurro. This is the first ever review I have written on trip advisor as its not something I normally do. However I feel compelled to write this as this was quite simply the best trip I have been on.
Lake Garda is stunningly beautiful. You could literally just sit and look at the lake and mountains all day, its that spectacular. Limone for me is the pick of the resorts. Although it is smaller than Malcesine and Riva it is pedestrianized and the small streets are beautiful. It also has a decent sized pebble beach, again with stunning views.
The hotel is right on the lakeside and is in an ideal location. We were able to have our breakfast outside looking onto the lake most mornings and on 4 out of 7 nights we were able to eat our evening meal there. That's where this hotel stands head and shoulders above many of the others. Its hard to beat the views. I actually think the Thomson web page under-sells this aspect of the hotel.
The room we were given was cleaned each day and again we had a great view of the lake. There is a pool on the roof which although it was small we got a lounger each time we went there. The food is of a good standard. Decent choice at breakfast and a good 4 course evening meal.
At this point I must say that the staff were first class. Very polite and approachable. The manager Alberto does his level best to make guests feel welcome and is a humorous guy. He regularly checked we were enjoying our stay and also made a fuss of us when he found out that me and my partner got engaged whilst there. I cant thank him enough.
We travelled with Thomson Lakes and Mountains and again the service was first class. Our rep Jonny was readily available to offer advice and he went out of his way to assist us with a couple of requests.
So without hesitation I would definately recommend this hotel. If you get tired of lying on the beach or doing the walks around Limone, you only have to hop on a ferry to one of the surrounding resorts which can be reached in 10-30 minutes. A trip up Monte Baldo in Malcesine is a must
Joe - Manchester

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a lake view - the majority of rooms offer this anyway

My Mother and I have never written a review before but this hotel deserves one.We stayed for three nights and four days from the 16th-19th of July 2014 and had an amazing holiday. We booked up through Thompson and would do so again. Everything about our stay was simply,Lovely & Magical. The golf buggy journey from the coach station (where Thompson drops you off) through the cobbled streets of limone to get to the hotel was nothing short of Special. We would highly recommend the hotel as it is perfectly situated by the lake, shops and harbour & the food is great. The staff are fantastic and go out of there way for you & the Manger Alberto is wonderful, accommodating & funny. Our room had a balcony with breathtaking views a fridge and was very clean and had air conditioning. For all you Brits who love a cup of tea like my mom, bring a travel kettle as there is not one in the room. The best wifi area is up, on the annex which has great views over limone. My mother and I are looking forward to going back again soon .

P.SWe miss the swimming pool, the view from the pool......you won't get your breath

Sue & Eva from Birmingham. :)

Room Tip: There is wifi I don't think u have to pay.The best area to connect to wifi is to sit on the deck...

Just back from this hotel and have to say it was just lovely. Alberto, the manager, and his staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect! The staff were friendly and helpful and made a fuss of our kids. The rooms were spotless with a view of the lake and mountains, just exceptional. The food was delicious and if there was something on the menu that the kids didn't like they were allowed pizza from the best pizzeria in lake Garda! The restaurant had the best view of the lake, could have sat there all day. The pool was welcome after a long day exploring north Italy and the ice cream and wine shop attached to the hotel were ideal. We had no problems at all with this hotel. Would thoroughly recommend for families and all. Brilliant holiday, thank you.

We have just returned from this hotel. When we booked 8 weeks beforehand we only had the option of booking a standard room which we were given on our arrival at 1.30am. There was nothing at all wrong with this room, the shower was excellent and the lighting and storage was good. It's always great to have a mini-fridge and safe in the room too and we had these. The next day we asked the manager, Alberto, if there was any possibility of a lake-view room and we were offered a room in the annexe with a small balcony. It had side views of the lake. This really made our holiday as it was great to be able to sit and watch all the comings and goings around the small shops locally and the ferry terminal. We were really grateful to have our request facilitated in such a charming manner. All the staff are really friendly and never fail to greet you as you go by. We found the food really good. There was a four course meal served every evening between 7 and 8; a salad buffet, a pasta course and a choice of a meat or fish dish. Dessert was usually delicious ice-cream, fruit, torta or pannacotta. The last 3 courses were served by the hard-working waiters and waitresses. You were allocated a table for your stay and the dining room is a lovely fresh bright room with views of the lake so you don't need to worry if you don't get a table on the terrace. At breakfast you can sit where you like and we always got a table on the terrace. The view is fabulous and you can watch the ferries coming and going. Beware of the sparrows that try to steal your breakfast rolls! The pool area is lovely and we always got sun loungers when we wanted them. The free wi-fi worked very well. Being beside the ferry is brilliant when going on an outing. Make sure you take a trip up Monte Baldo on a fine day. You can spend hours on top of the mountain watching the paragliders, photographing the fabulous views, waking on the trails and eating at the restaurants. We recommend the apple strudel. There is lots for children to do up there with pony rides, trekking with alpacas, tub rides and playgrounds in the restaurants. It can be cool up there so dress appropriately! We got the ferry to Malcesine from the centre of town and bought our cable car tickets there to avoid the queues. Get a promotions card from your hotel and you will get money off ferry rides and cable car tickets among other things. There are lots of lovely walks to do in Limone - make sure you get a guide from the Tourist Office. Limone gets busy during the day with visitors arriving on the ferries. It's quiet at night but there are lots of nice bars to sit in and some free music events from time to time. We went to an Abba night and an organ recital in the beautiful parish church. The hotel offers free tea/coffee and cake between 4 and 5 and this is brought to you by the waiters. It's really nice after a day out. Limone is a long trasfer (over 2 hours) from Verona airport but there are lovely views of Lake Garda along the way. There are steep mountains behind the hotel so the sun was gone from around 5pm (in July). We could see it still shining on the other side of the lake for a few hours after that! I would go back to this hotel in a flash as we loved our week there. Our son was so impressed with our descriptions of the town that he and his girlfriend have booked to go at the end of the month. The review who said that 'every view is a postcard' in this resort was absolutely right (just look at the photos). By the way bring an umbrella and a light raincoat - it does rain here at times! Many thanks to the lovely manager and staff of the All'Azzurro.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to take a room in the annexe - we had room 8 there and it was a lovely spacious...

We had a lovely week here recently. Our room was small but spotlessly clean with the most amazing view of the lake. The staff were amazing, very helpful, friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel has a lovely little train to to transport customers to the lake front to pick up the coach etc, it was delightful. Food was very good, the scrambled egg at breakfast was fabulous, the yoghurt and cereals very nice, lots of choice, lovely fresh bread, pleantiful meats and cheeses, and great coffee. I found the Thomson rep Jonny to be very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, and he arranged three wonderful trips for us. All in all a great holiday in a beautiful location.

Room Tip: All rooms have a lake view but try to get one with a balcony.
