“Not so all inclusive”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

Magnificent views from hillside location but all inclusive it was not!! The italians need to take lessons from the spanish regarding this. Very poor choice of drinks via a machine only until 6pm. Drinks after this had to be paid for and were not cheap. The food choices were not that good with pizza and pasta every lunchtime. Predominantly caters for german guests and english people were far outnumbered. Would not go back to this hotel or recommend it to others.

We returned from our stay in this wonderful hotel last week, and would return tomorrow if we could! We traveled with Inghams, and booked a superior room with lake view. (I would stromgly recommend this, as if you are going to visit Lake Garda the views are gorgeous, and you want to see the lake as often as possible!). From our room we could see over to Malcesine castle, which was lovely.
The staff were all so helpful in the Royal Village, there customer service is faultless, nothing was too much trouble. And they also have magic cleaning fairies, who seem to clean the room as soon as you leave it! (I'd LOVE those at home!!).
The breakfast is between 7.30 and 9.30, lunch 12.30 to 2.00, dinner 6.30 to 8.30. There is afternoon tea between 4 and 5pm. Soft drinks, wine and beer are available by the pool between 10 am and 6pm, with lunch and dinner. Any drinks after that you pay for. The food at this hotel is amazing, there is a lot of choice, and considering the amount of guests, the food was always being replenished. We enjoyed the Pizzas, salads, and ice cream at lunch time. The food in the evening was terrific, especially the pesto lasagne! And the choice of desserts were gorgeous!
The hotel has an Italian restaurant, where you can eat outside. If you,d like a packed lunch the reception organize this, you just ask before 10am the day before you need it.
There is a steep walk up to the hotel, so if you struggle walking you may find this hard, the reward with the views made it worth the walk though! (the hotel does have a mini bus that takes people into Limone though).
Limone attracts a lot of Germans, which we love, because we can not understand German! They don't seem to do queuing, so if you're getting on the boats for example, don't do what we English love doing!
Limone is a stunning place to stay, very beautiful, and from here you can also get the bus or boats to Riva, Torbole and Malcesine. (malcesine is worth a visit on saturdays for the big market, it getys very busy though). There is a tourist discount card that gives a discount on the boats, you can get these from your tour rep, and at hotel reception. We also visited Verona to see the opera, it was a great experience, (also made us realise that opera music is not for us!), but the event was magical. It is a long day though, we were picked up at 3.30 and dropped off at 3.00am!
I would like to mention our rep for Inghams, Neil. He was great, thoughful, considerate, and there if we needed him, everything a rep should be.
We would thoroughly recommend the Hotel Royal Village, and hope to return!

Room Tip: superior rooms, with balcony and lake view strongly recommend! Go to breakfast early, and dinner af...

The resort of Limone is absolutely stunning but the Royal Village leaves a lot to be desired. The star rating means absolutely nothing in Italy, we met a couple who were in a 3 star in Malcesine and they had silver service, something which we would be asking for next time. It is very German orientated and the staff seem to fall over themselves for them but they were really helpful to us, we changed rooms when we got there, some of them were really sub standard rooms and the second one was not that much better than the first, in fact the view was awful in the second one and lovely in the first one but the first one was dirty and horrid. One bit of advice, do not eat in the Restaurant, there is an alternative Italian restaurant you can choose to eat in (you have to book it before 10 am each morning) that is much much better and no extra charges. You can eat outside which is lovely. The steep hill is no good for elderly people, it did me a lot of good, I lost 5 lbs doing that each and every day, there is a shuttle bus that you can take, it cost 1 euro each but only operates 4 times a day. I think Newmarket has a habit of not using the best hotels but I would say they were adequate. The Newmarket guide Pino was lovely, very helpful and kind, he had us in stitches with his stories, we couldn't work out which was truth or fiction. Hilarious guy and lovely with it, nothing was too much trouble for him. Overall, the holiday was fabulous, really early starts to all the excursions which believe me, you do get used to, but it is quite exhausting going every day, I would suggest go on one every other day. Venice is well worth it, Verona also, don't bother with the Lake trip on the Friday and do go to the Dolomites, it was spectacular. Malcesine is well worth a visit too. It is a bit like Butlins which makes me sound like a snob but it's true, some of the bar staff in the evenings were awful, just look away at that, there are plenty that are not, maybe the girl had had an argument with her boyfriend every night that was why she had a face like a slapped behind. The whole experience was wonderful except the hotel....................................... saying that, if you were a family with children, I think it would be acceptable but if you were a bit older and had high standards, Royal Village is not for you.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and don't hesitate in asking to move if you are not happy, some of th...

Just returned from a week in Limone with Newmarket Travel. We had visited previously with Newmarket but this hotel was even better.. Although we paid for half board the hotel upgrades everyone to all inclusive with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and cakes and dinner. Also free wine, beer and soft drinks. This was a fantastic bonus and meant we came home with Euros. We had paid extra for a sea view and the row of rooms certainly didn't disappoint with spectacular views of sea and mountains. The food was very good with plenty of choice and lots of healthy salads.

Limone is probably the nicest town around the lake as we've been to most of them now. A trip to Malcesine is worth a look for the Saturday market. The cable to Monte Baldo is very expensive as well as very crammed but a lovely town. The temperatures were hotter than usual for July - between 38-45 degrees.

We hired a boat twice with two other couples so that was a nice relief from the heat and worked out quite cheap sharing.

Our Guide Pino is a real character telling tales from his past about his friend Gordon. He should write a book.

Apart from the flight home with Small Planet which was delayed (which seems to be nothing unusual for them) this was. 5 star holiday. Oh and apart from putting on 10 lbs in weight.

Room Tip: Rooms 133-137 are quiet and have spectacular views.

Have just returned from a fabulous week staying in Limone Lake Garda. We stayed at the Hotel Royal Village and went with Newmarket Holidays. Although we had booked half board we were upgraded to full, with Beer, Wine and soft drinks as well as tea and coffee available free all day. Our room was pleasant and overlooked the pool. We had paid extra for a lake view which could have been better (most of the view was obscured by trees) but we could see some of the lake and definitely the mountains. The food was plentiful but there were always some who complained! If you want British food stay in Britain!! THe hotel staff were very pleasant and any requests were dealt with speedily. Only complaint - the cable car to Monte Baldo. They promise spectacular views - what they don't tell you is that they cram in 45 people at least 6 with parachutes and also a couple of prams so if you don't get in first you have no chance of seeing anything and as the majority of other occupants were incredibly rude Germans who just pushed their way to the front it was a bit disappointing. Overall it was a great holiday, Pino our guide was an absolute star and kept us all entertained. For those of you going to Verona make sure you walk the little back streets to Ponte Pietro the views across the river are superb. Limone itself is a jewel and I would love to go back oneday. Likewise the small town of Lazitse is also well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Higher floors would have a less obscured view of the lake. Worth paying extra for balcony and view.

Really enjoyable stay at the Royal Village Hotel. This Hotel is well worth its 4 stars. Really clean lovely staff great swimming pools and fantastic views. Only downside is its location at the top of a really step hill although there is a bus 5 times a day.

Room Tip: ask for a lake view you will not be disappointed.

We have just returned from a one week stay at Hotel Royal Village. It was our first trip to Lake Garda and our first trip booked with Newmarket Holidays. We were well taken care of from the time we landed at Verona and found the hotel reception staff to be extremely helpful. We like our room, our balcony, our view and we found the food to be of very good quality with a wide variety available at all times. The restaurant staff were welcoming and all in all given the reasonable cost of this holiday we were very impressed. We would definitely return to this hotel it is in an awesome location and if only we hadn't gone on so many trips we could have happily sat in any of the beautiful pool locations and just looked at the view. Thank you Hotel Royal Village we had a great time.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a lake view room and if you don't like music don't have a room on the music bar s...
