“fall asleep to the sound of the waves below”
Reviewed 23 September 2013

Fling open the big shutters to the windows and leave them open for the drama of the crashing waves below, spectacular. I've rated this hotel so highly for the 5 * location which really is fantastic, it's just a shame that the room we were in had 3 * furniture. The building itself and the location deserves better. However the room was clean, staff were friendly and breakfast was OK.

A hotel to spend one night, for the morning/afternoon views. No parking nearby. Our stay was in a fatigued/old room, but, the view was somewhat compensating. Would stay at another hotel in Cinqueterre.

Firstly the best points - I booked the hotel through booking.com and specified a sea view and what a view it was! It was great to open the floor to ceiling Windows and enjoy the sea view, beach and also the sun set! The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. 5 minute walk from Camogli Train Station and 30 second walk to the beach, we paid 3 euros for the room service to bring us our breakfast which was great! The only bad thing that happened was the guy behind the desk said checking out was at 7am but we think there was a communication error! £180 for 1 night is expensive but it was well worth it! Enjoy!

This is our second time staying at the Casmona. The first time we had a room down below, but the windows opened right on the promenade and the sea waves. This time, we had a balcony room....for 100 euros, which was a discount. Amazing view, although this balcony, was right beside the public plaza...not much privacy (room 403). The staff, as always, are gracious and helpful. Dinner at Xodo on the promenade was great, and the focacia right next door to the hotel, run by a couple of women (forgot the name!), is the best in Italy!

This is a hotel outstanding for its class.

I did not see the cheaper rooms. But the whole point about staying in a hotel like this is that it is very well worth investing in one of the more expensive rooms. For the quality that they offer, they are cheap by any comparative measure when it comes to views and location but also service.

The rooms with balconies have to be seen to be believed – it is hard to think of a hotel with a more impressive vista. The only problem with it is that you don't want to leave to explore the town.

The staff at this hotel seem to love the hotel and you can tell this through the effortless unstuffy service.

The communal areas have extraordinary views. The breakfast is fine. The minibar is cheap. The rooms are clean. I just don't understand why anyone could have a problem.

Stay here.

The Casmona is an average hotel with dated rooms and furnishings and the typical small bathroom. BUT, the million dollar view more than made up for these inadequacies. Our room had two openable, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Ligurian Sea. With a window open at night, we fell asleep to sound of the waves lapping to shore. Just an unbelievable setting. The staff, with one exception, were very accomadating and even lowered the quoted rate on the second night without prompting. Not the best lodging on our trip, but definitely the best view.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a water view

I was really looking forward to spending a few days in Camogli and Hotel Casmona did not disappoint. A fantastic location near the train station, and central to Camogli. Hotel staff were very helpful, the the room was fabulous. Top floor overlooking the sea side and the waterfront street. Large room with plenty of light and the sound of the surf crashing to put you to sleep.
