Usually I stay at the Ibis Budget but as this hotel was being paid for my employer, I stayed here.
I was checked in straight away and offered to upgrade my room at a cost of 15 euros so that I would have air conditioning. I found this odd as most hotels have air conditioning as standard and I've never had to pay extra. I paid it anyways as The Netherlands was in the middle of a heat wave.
I wasn't advised on any facilities, I had to find these myself. There are lifts, but the escalators are in the centre of the building, which I thought was pretty high tech as I have never seen escalators in a hotel before.
My room was small, but adequate for a one night stay. The bathroom was clean and modern and the furniture in the room was also modern. There is a note on the bed stating if you stay more than one night and don't have your room serviced, you will receive a 5 euro discount in the bar or restaurant, which is a good idea.
There is also a note on the towel rail to re-use your towels in the interest of the environment.
So this is why it baffled me that there were disposable plastic glasses wrapped in plastic in the bathroom. If the hotel is keen to help save the environment, surely all aspects should be looked at by perhaps introducing re-useable glasses in the room?
I had a couple of drinks in the bar and then went up to the 4th floor for dinner. I had prawns which was served with noodles, it was delicious and quite affordable.
The fast check out means you can just drop your card off and catch the shuttle. Which didn't turn up. I stood waiting for the 0538 only for it not to turn up and I had to wait for the one that came at 0556. Luckily I wasn't in a rush for my flight.
Other than that, it was a good one night stay. My only regret is that I do want to come back here, but I have already reserved the Ibis Budget in December. Next time though!
