“Bali, a real Indonesian restaurant?”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

i know this restaurant for years and didn`t went here foe a few months, till this month.
The quality of the ordered food was different and less as I was used.
It seems they have another cook working here.
Anyway, I was disappointed and for sure will discuss this with the manager next time.

“Lunch”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

When it comes to taste, its as far as BoZ to Bali. Sambal telur is the only dish that reminds me of Indonesia. If the owners or chef are Indonesian, Bapak you need to refresh your food and music selections. Brilliant building though!

“Sticky mouldy menus”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

I can't tell you what the food is like at Bali.
We sat down and asked to look at the English menu, which was somewhat grudgingly brought to us. Upon opening it, we found that the pages were stuck together and - yuck - within the plastic wallets which held the sheets of paper, mould was growing on every page.
We reasoned that if the menu was this dirty, we wouldn't take a chance with the food. So we left and went elsewhere.

“Comes close to the taste of Indonesia”
Reviewed 19 July 2013

There's hundreds of "Chinese-Indonesian" restaurants in Holland. There's only a few that come close to the real taste of Indonesia, a former colony of the Dutch where many foodstalls and restaurants were run by Chinese people much to the envy of less entrepreneurial native Indonesians. Many of them came to Holland in the fifties when we had to withdraw from "our" Dutch Indies. Restaurant Bali brings the taste of the food as it can still be found in present day Indonesia with a twist......pork included. The rise of Islam since WWII has wiped that sort of meat from the Indonesian menu, not in Holland though! (long may it stay like that).
True Indonesian dishes but also the "rice table" for 2 , 3 or larger groups of guests, rice table being a Dutch invention "give me a bit of everything your kitchen has to offer" which may see you surrounded by 25 small dishes with all sorts of meat, fish, saté (skewers with satay sauce), rice, noodles, fried banana and all sorts of vegetables. Some of them really hot which may surprise people well known with the Indian "curry"kitchen. THis restaurant, BALI in Bergen op Zoom, brings the tropical archipelago of Indonesia to your tastebuds. You won't regret it!
