“Penthouse suite with jacuzzi”
Reviewed 6 April 2010

I stayed in a penthouse suite with my spouse on a weekend getaway. The room was very nice, especially the in-room "spa" with a jacuzzi. We got a very nice price as it was a weekend. Room was very spacious, and the view from the top floor was nice.

I can well recommend the hotel for romantic getaways. The location is suitable also for airport connections, but inconvenient if the purpose is to visit Amsterdam downtown.

I had a full week working in Germany due a trade show and on my stop over night in Amsterdam for the next day early flight I found this peace of mind location before I take the another 12 hours flight on way home. The hotel has large rooms well equipped with large LCD TV, "wired" Internet (expensive.. about EUR 12,00 a day.. is too much for this simple service) with iron board which is perfect when your are in business. It's just beside of a very nice park with several lakes to walk and jog, It's located on the country along the farms from Schiphol Airport. The hotel has a good mini market and a few meters you can find a convention center with 3 restaurants and more.

I stayed in that Hotel twice. The location is nice and quite. The little lake is beautyfull to go for Jogging and the Event centre offeres good possibilities if you do not want to go to Amsterdam or Harlem. Really enjoyed the wine tasting with the General Manager.
The only Problem I faced is that this Hotel is not able to credit your Reward Points. Even not after the second reminder from the first stay or after the second stay. Other Hotels do that immediately. Why does this takes so long???

We had an unplanned stay at this hotel due to an overnight delay courtesy of KLM. It seemed to me that everyone in the hotel was clutching vouchers, so I suspect this hotel gets a lot of its business from the airlines. The hotel itself is very nice, with a pretty lobby, bar and a very nice fireplace. Rooms were equally nice: spacious and the large soaking tub was nice, especially after all the trauma at the airport. We received vouchers for dinner, which was at the event center next door. We were herded upstairs with all the other "voucher people" and given a very limited menu to choose from. Service here was friendly but harried, food not so good. The following morning there was an OK breakfast buffet, again this was included for us. Lunch was kind of a mess... apparently they do not usually serve lunch, and the only reason we got is that we had vouchers with "LUNCH" written on them. Again, we had no choice, they just cobbled together a random selection of sandwiches which looked suspiciously like leftovers from the breakfast meats. Wireless was $5E per hour in the room. Interestingly, it was FREE at the cheapie Days Inn we had just stayed at. Hmmmm. Shuttle service to and from the airport was a mess. Had to wait over an hour. We didn't stay here by choice, and I can't imagine I would in the future. It's a nice hotel but the location is really only suited for airport delays.

Hotel located far away from airport, you need wait for shuttle and than it takes 15- 18 mins to get to Hotel. Be careful with credit card, I was billed twice and reply from hotel that it's not their utmost priority to refund all double charges, as other company - Six Card Solutions, which is a company which charges the details by the credit card companies for this hotel Like a mediator had a system failure, which caused the double charge on all credit cards at one day. Issue is still not resolved

Dear Guest,

I would like to personally apoligize for the double charge on your credit, which resulted from a mix-up at our credit card handler Six Card Solutions beyond our control that had only occurred on that specific day. We have taken immediate action with Six Card Solutions upon finding out about this double processing of credit card transactions, unfortunately we had only found out that this had happened 2 weeks after the fact. Six Card Solutions has confirmed to us that all charge backs have been processed to the involved guests of that day and an apology letter on their behalf has been send to the guests.

You are absolutely right in stating that it is not normal practice and action has been taken that this one-time event will not be repeated in the future. In case that I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

We at Courtyard by Marriott Amsterdam Airport Hotel take your comments very seriously and appreciate your feedback for us to continue our strive for service excellence in all we do. Again I would like to apologize for any inconveniences this might have caused and remain at your service for any additional assistance.

Warm Regards,

Michiel Laterveer

This hotel is best for staying overnight before or after a flight from the airport, as it is far away from the center of Amsterdam and most tourist-type attractions. We generally like Courtyard Inns but have found that in Europe Marriotts are a better value, as more options are available for meals (e.g., Continental breakfast at a lower price vs. "full" breakfast), free internet access is provided in all the rooms, which are very comfortable and usually have complimentary coffee service, and we don't feel "nickel and dimed" like we do at the Courtyards. The Courtyards we have stayed in (Amsterdam, Brussels, Hanover) have not offered free internet connections in the room or lobby, or free parking. Coffee service is generally limited to a machine in the lobby which serves free cups only from 6:00-9:00 a.m., which is not nearly enough hours for diehard coffee drinkers or late risers. Also, the options for breakfast are limited to a buffet which costs 22 Euros per person, which is way too much for the quality of food served and the service provided. Dinner options are better, but the service is generally haphazard and meal prices are a little high. Courtyards usually have nice lounges, have a decent selection of beers and appetizers at fairly reasonable prices, and the bartenders and servers tend to be much more attentive than they are in the restaurant. The rooms in the Courtyards are fine with comfortable beds and flat screen TVs, as well as nice bathrooms. The Courtyard Amsterdam is next door to a "family center" which has a few restaurants, a bowling alley, music and dancing, and a few other activities which will tide most people over until they get to another destination.

I have recently returned from a weekend stay at the courtyard Marriott Amsterdam and I have to say I was bitterly disappointed! Having read reviews on this site I knew the hotel was isolated but as it is situated next to the Claus event centre I thought there would be plenty places to eat for dinner. I was wrong. The hotel restaurant is not open for dinner at weekends, neither too was the bistro at the claus centre open. This left only the salsa restaurant which was ok but very loud and busy. I would not recommend a stay here at the weekend, even the room service menu is limited to pizza and sandwiches. We waited 45 mins for the shuttle bus at Schipol, and decided to get a taxi which cost 35 Euros. The wireless internet access is only free in the hotel lobby area, a charge of 5 Euros an hour is applicable if you'd like to have access in your room and the breakfasts are seriously over priced at 18.50 euros for something significantly substanded. There is also a charge for parking of 13.50 a day. I will say though, that the hotel is clean and the rooms are quite spacious we had two queen beds, but having stayed at the Radisson Schipol airport the weekend before I know which one I shall be returning to.
