I stayed there not once but twice. I must say the value, cleansiness and overall customer service was outstanding.. I stayed in a standard room, a junior suite and a suite. And I must say all very impressive. Again can't put enough emphasis on the customer service. Excellent customer service on management and hotel staff. Once more, i highly recommend. You need an airport hotel, I tried Hilton, and best western, I would pick NH over both of them.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, it was extremely convenient for Schiphol Airport, with a free shuttle bus both ways, at 15 minute intervals at peak times. My room was spotless, large & very well appointed, with a good bathroom with quality toiletries, as well a safe which I always consider a necessity. The restaurant was adequate, but the bar was fun, the staff were great & the food I had was excellent. McDonalds is opposite if that's your thing. The leisure centre is great & comprises of a sauna, steam room & swimming pool with a jacuzzi, all complimentary for guests, as well as a modern well equipped fitness area. The bike hire is great, (free for guests) and is really great way to see the surrounding area. (Amsterdam City Centre is 14km ride away - 30 mins - on bike safe cycleways). All in all a decent quality hotel, that's convenient for the airport, has comprehensive leisure options, and delivers good value for money.

very nice good value hotel ,nice rooms close to airport , check in staff fine , but oh dear ..... don't go for dinner ,I am a Chef and all the guides say .they have a .very nice French ?med style restaurant ,,,,?not open on a Friday night ?hmm,Ok the (meeting place) is where you eat ......Meet .It is a airport hotel full of.... yep... world travellers .so why was the big guy, (Dutch) ,I am not racist .so rude to most of his customers except the Dutch .I am British and he came to our table with such an attitude ....why are you here ? a young Asian lady then came in and he didn't even try to explain to her or help in any way with the menu .then three Chinese young ladies came into the (Meeting place) and he told them promptly to go to the bar as he couldn't be bothered to serve them .Towards the end of the evening two young French men asked to pay their bill in halves ,and he made such a fool of himself trying to tell them that it meant 50 /50 .nice place get rid of the obnoxious waiter ....please

This location IS NOT a 4-star hotel. It would certainly qualify based on the services listed, but due to how the property is managed and maintained I believe you have to subtract at least one-star if not two.

I have stayed at a few NH properties for business and at every one there were two consistencies I have identified:

First, at average room rates they are run down and dirty. As far as your room is concerned; if you choose to spend a premium to upgrade yourself or you happen to get an upgrade, you might be able to improve the quality of the stay. However the common spaces are almost always run-down and your room rate will not impact these areas.

Second, NH properties seem to thrive on a "Nickel and Dime" mentality. These are not choice properties were good quality services follow your normal expectations. Quality is the exception based solely on your willingness to pay for what you would consider a "standard" experience. It's like staying in the late-80's or early-90's and then paying an excessive quantity of upgrades to get what you would expect for a 2013 room.

You would be better off paying slightly more for a room that delivers on the experience you expect - because in the end to have even a part of that experience at the NH Schiphol, you will have to pay more for these services.

Some brief notes to confirm what others have said:
- Room size is very good.
- Fittings are good, but in poor shape (mainly just dirty, functionally they seem ok)
- Beds are very poor, flat is an understatement. They do not offer a good nights sleep and I have had backaches and congestion since I started my stay. I would guess they are past the time required to replace these beds.
- Smell is everywhere and not pleasant, my room smells like sweat and baby powder. I am not asking too many questions as to why.
- Windows do not open or vent, so there is no hope of fresh air in your room.
- Rooms can get uncomfortable at night. HVAC controls provide unpredictable response, are loud, and seem to make my headache and congestion worse when it is running.
- Staff is okay, not overly friendly, but that is not uncommon for the continent. Accommodating without being overly attentive.
- TV service, not good. Almost all news, not uncommon for continental hotels, but for a 4-star hotel it is sadly disappointing. Again it feels like it is 1982, you are looking at a small tube (CRT) television with a handful of stations and poor reception. If you opt to buy a movie you should know that this unlocks all movie channels including the porn (bonus for some I suppose). However the movies are run on a timer so they play when they play and you may not get to actually see what you want as the systems driving the movies are out of sync with the actual time. This may not a big deal for most, but if you are here on layover or business it might be important as a mechanism to relax, deal with jet-lag, or the fact that the beds don't let you sleep very well and there is nothing to do around the hotel at 2:00am when you can't sleep.
- Area, business park and airport. Nothing to do or a place to really walk.
- Internet service is HORRIBLE. It is limited to a narrow bandwidth (128kbps, but measures even less), for text only email it is okay, but if you are here on business and need to work on anything a modern businessperson would do, you won't find it acceptable. Luckily you can pay a premium for better service.
- Food is average and absolutely nothing special. It is expensive if that makes you feel better. Included breakfasts may or may not be actually included based on my past experience. I will see how this one pans out tomorrow when I check out.

Room Tip: My room was on the North side, third floor, in the executive area facing the airport. I didn't n...

This hotel is a good budget choise, if you do not mind staying close to the airport.

My room (executive wing) was large, clean and had most amenities except ironing equipment (coffee, minibar, small safe etc.). Rooms are slightly worn and Internet (Swisscom, included service) is soo bad it can't be used for anything else than text emails (measured at 0.07 Mbit). A lot of rooms are on ground floor, ask for a high floor if it bothers you.

Breakfast was OK for the rate (included). Hotel has a very small gym with pool and sauna.

Overall good price choice at about €100 per night..

I never wrote a review before , but I had such a horrible experience that I was compelled to share my experience. I
Stayed for one night between flights , the bathroom was filthy , the room was at ground level where people from the street can peep inside , the staff was so unpleasant that makes French hospitality seem like a warm Christmas welcome at your parents. I was promised complimentary breakfast for the state of the room , but when I saw the buffet I decided to pass , the food looked so stale that I would t have offered it to people I don't like. Obviously I was charged for breakfast and nothing I said about the complimentary service helped me so I had to pay €21 for it.

A promising ray o light was the free Internet , however it was so slow that I would have preferred to pay for something that actually works.

Overall I took it as a last minute deal and I regret not paying double for staying at a normal hotel.
