Travelled with a coach tour. Arrived late at night, soup and bread served at 11.00pm. Didn't take advantage of this just headed to the room.
Room was clean and and very comfy bed. Decor in some places needs updating, and a dreadful smell from the waste pipe ouside of the window. Very hot in the rooms, no fan or aircon. There are no facilities to make tea or coffee in the rooms. I would suggest taking a mirror too as the only one in the room I used was in the bathroom and nowhere near a socket for a hairdryer.
There was no service at all from the staff, breakfast was okay (when they didn't run out of food) and the evening meal was not good. Very few vegetables - this food also kept running out.

Location is fine (when they're not digging opposite)
Claims to be 3*....hmmm, not really!

got to the hotel late, missed our evening meal but served soup and bread not bad, given room 2 flights up lift not working so had to carry cases up 2 flights of stairs, breakfasts were good but evening meal was soup everynight, bland meals, staff were very young and inexperienced, kept saying they only had 1 oven and 1 cook, Room was attic, very cramped and building work goiung on opposite bedroom window, no tea making facilities had to rely on lukewarm water and teabag from barstaff by the time they gave us it it was nearly cold. staff not bothered at all. Certain doors were shuttered up on a night without us been informed if there had been a fire we would have been trapped, all told to vacate the beer garden 10.30 - 11 each night and this was shuttered up. def not stay there again

We are a group from the Sudbury branch of the University of the Third Age - 39 of us stayed in May 2012. The public areas, bar/lounge, restaurant, courtyard are well furnished and attractive. The rooms are basic, a bit small, but spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and good quality cotton bedlinen. Our traditional buffet breakfast was very good, with lots of choice. We had a set 3-course meal each night, difficult if you are vegetarian because there was no choice, however if notified beforehand they would have provided an alternative veggie main course. The evening meals were uniformly good - our only complaint was a refusal to provide jugs of tap water. Staff were all cheerful, helpful and efficient and received good tips at the end of our stay! It is a short walk outside the town centre, but this was not a problem for our (elderly) members.

It lokes nice from the outside.
The inside however for the rooms is not so nice small corridors.
We got a very smaal room. The plaster came of the walls. The bathroom was was very old fdashioned and bad finshing by the carpenter.
It says ist 3-star hotel. Probably 2 stars is morte than enough.
The rooms are extremely noisy.
Brakfast however was oke.
But all in all. Never Again.

Although staff were generally helpful one member was offhand with us on many occasions and they were short on glasses which meant we often had to have a different choice of drink. The food was frozen and bought in which was tasteless and always cold in the evenings. On one occassion there was not enough food so I went without, often the fish and pork was cremated! The breakfasts were a much better standard thankfully.

The room I stayed at was in dire need of updating and more worryingly the window had a faulty handle and nearly fell off when we opened it. Skirting boards were just pieces of wood nailed on and painted and this was flaking off and there appeared to be a false ceiling which didn't help with noise above. The table lamp could not be used the same time as the television and it needed the same two pin plug. On the plus side the beds were comfortable and things were mostly clean apart from mould on the bathroom tiles.

One night we walked into the town which took us about 10-15 (we walk fast) on our return at 10.30 the hotel was in darkness. Thinking we would like a night cap my husband searched the building for staff and everything was locked up. To all intense and purpose we were alone.

To sum up the hotel lacks proper management and would benifit from a complete revamp of it's rooms. Shame but this place could be a gem if run properly.
