we were on Mon/Fri holiday arrived 9pm We were asked to have our meal straight away soup and a cold buffet ok. Walram is an attractive hotel centrally located rooms very clean. Our room 307 looked out at the front of hotel had 2 very narrow 2ft 6" twin beds bit difficult to turn over without falling out of bed ( Walram needs to have slightly wider beds even 6 more " would make a difference) room was very small could only open wardrobe door by about 8 inches without moving a bed which blocked corridor acess to be able to put things away. Bathroom had a smell which we reported to reception which they got rid of but it came back next day so there must be a problem with drains, radiators very good and plenty of hot water we asked for tea tray in room very good. Hotel staff very smart and pleasant. Meals were very good but all taken in breakfast room at back of hotel which was a bit dissapointing as the very good dining room at the front was empty each evening it made it all seem a bit like a cafe, we had done the same trip with National Jan 2013 and we ate our evening meals in dining room, such a small thing easily solved. Food vas very hot and good, instead of serving 1 table at a time service was sometimes poor because if you had the fish course you had finished before the potatoes and rest of table had received their food.

The inclusive trips out with National are very good but the £10 per person extra trip to Liege on Wednesday approx 30 people not worth paying that for such a short trip to a town centre. We took the same holiday to the Walram because the previous year was a snow whiteout and we did not really see anything.
Overall the National trips are excellant value for money but miss Liege out.

Room Tip: dont get a room overlooking noisy weir

The twin room was small, clean and the beds comfortable but no tea making facilities. We were severely delayed by bad weather and unable to arrive at the hotel early afternoon but rather closer to 11pm that day so missed dinner which was included in our stay. We contacted the hotel during our journey down asking if they could leave something for us to eat upon arrival but they advised they could not. Very disappointing especially as at breakfast there was bread, cheese, together with cold ham and meats and fruit - no cooking required - surely something like this could have been left out for us. No apology by the hotel at all.
The cooked breakfast was not always hot and scrambled egg not inviting although the bacon was absolutely delicious.
Staff were friendly and courteous.
The location was great being very central and we were able to walk everywhere.

Visit was part of Coach party, single room requested at back to avoid weir noise at side of hotel.Attic room provided was small wth sloping roof, little luggage space, not a refurbished room but quiet.Staff at reception helpful, kettle provided when asked.Dining room staff delivered food but didnt remove your previous course dishes till later in the meal.Needed more training.Food set menu, probably better in restaurant.Often frozen vegetables, usually shortage of breadrolls from self service area, hot drinks from machine not turned on till halfway through meal.

Room Tip: I chose high floor at the back to aviod noise from weir at the side of hotel. However as was single r...

in Valkenburg for business we have been attraced by the thirt position (dicember 2013) on Tripadvisor and the good rate compare to other hotels in the area. We have been given the room number 309 ... the room is very small, it is a twin room and single beds are tiny and one next to the other. the decoration looks cheap and the moquette on the floors are wornout. When we opened the room the window was opened and room temperature outside wa below zero. the heating system works very well and it took minutes to warm the room (but also because the room was very small). once we opened the bathroom door we found out why the window was opened in winter.. bathroom smells of sewer that is impossible to stay in without the door opened. the smells comes from the shower and property for sure knows about this problem but they gave us that room anyway. we had to stay only two nights and spent all the day outside but this is not acceptable at all. Breakfast is fair. Parking is cheap if you compare to the public parking in front of the hotel. we had no time to use other services. The town is small so the hotel is near everything and you can reach any part of the Town, by walk, in minutes.

Room Tip: avoid the room number 309 , the bathroom smells of sewer that is impossible to stay in the room with...

Centrally located and within walking distance of both the Velvet and Municipal Xmas Cave Markets with truly excellent food. We stayed for 4 nights with Solent Holidays and enjoyed superbly presented and cooked food..( Sole, salmon, cod and plaice...Roast beef, turkey, lamb and pork. All were beautifully cooked with delicious sauces and healthy vegetables. Salad buffet, soups and beautifully presented puddings with fresh strawberries as decoration were also provided with friendly waiter service.
Breakfast time was very flexible with an excellent range of fruits, rolls and cereals and a delicious cooked bacon, sausage and scrambled egg breakfast. Hot drinks were complimentary with every meal and they provided Green and Earl Grey Tea and a selection of coffees from a free machine as well as juices for breakfast. A room kettle and tea tray were supplied on demand from reception.. Everyone was friendly helpful and smiling.
The small pool was warm, safe and very clean. Rooms were spotless and the beds were soft and comfortable. Showers were always hot and easy to use and the central heating worked instantly.I had a view of a small river from my window and the Wednesday evening carnival finished in the square outside our hotel. The large supermarket opposite supplied everything we needed.and the Christmas Markets in the caves and illuminated castle-view made this an excellent holiday for people of all ages. A lovely safe location with level walks. This was much appreciated by the older travellers in our group.
We were within easy travelling distance of the German towns of Aachen, Koln and the mountain village of Monshau for their fantastic Christmas Markets and restaurants and coffee shops.
Thank you to all the hotel staff and to Solent Coaches in Ringwood in Hampshire for a superbly organised holiday.

Room Tip: Overlooking the river or square is lovely.
