“Continues too impress for many years now”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2013

The food at this restaurant is superb. Its wine list and pairings are excellent. The atmosphere and service are outstanding. However, what impresses me most about Hofstede Meerzigt is the fact that it keeps impressing with its food, wines and service for many years now. We visit Hofstede often, sometimes twice a week, and they always offer a high-level, pleasant and interesting experience. It is a great place to go with friends and family, but also for a lunch or dinner with business relations. Service is always professional and they know when to be more friendly and when to be more reserved.

“Superb, creative meal, attentive staff, lovely old farmhouse”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2013

I would love to know more about the history of this lovely old farmhouse. Really strange to see this amidst a semi-modern neighbourhood.... We live in Leiden and since there are lots of restaurants in town we somehow never thought of going to Zoetermeer for a special dinner. So glad we finally did! From welcome 'till goodbye we were pampered! And yes, it is expensive but you really get what you pay for AND they have these men-deals and other ways to get a discount, so nothing stopping you there!

I loved the fact that you had full view of the kitchen upon arrival, since the kitchen is located in a sub-construction made fully out of glass. The restaurant itself has a bit of a homy, cozy atmosphere, without clutter.

We had a platter of amuses de bouche served immediately (a.o. a curry cookie, cheese churros, a picallili bonbon). I had the house- aperitif, my partner had a non-alcoholic one with ginger ale, almond- and mint syrup, tasteful. We ordered the 4-course surprise menu with a wine-package for 3 courses to go with it, my partner had a drivers- wine package (half glasses, so he could have the taste, but still drive afterwards!).

After ordering we got another amuse de bouche: a basilicum panna cotta with foam of balsamic and a poached cherry tomato.
First course was different preparations of salmon and cucumber, second course was 'krei'( a kind of cod-like fish), we were served a Chardonnay from the Washington estate. Main course was riped beef from a 'weide- cow' , served with Boschendal wine (I believe it was the shiraz...). Dessert was quite divers: panna cotta, small chocolate tray with a mint-pistachio mousse, blood orange and dark chocolate sorbet. Difficult to pair, but we got a Argentinean dessertwine, French grape, from the highest wine area of the country.

The amuse- platter mirrored the friandise we had with the coffee (it looked the same but tasted sweet) at the end, which made it all come together really well!

I loved the way they explained the dishes, the wines, how attentive they were (when my hand bag fell to the ground, they organized a hand bag holder to hang on the table, how great is that!?), how they attend to your napkin when you leave the table, nice and fresh toilets...

A great experience and I would recommend it to anyone!

“Gorgeous location, top quality gastronomy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2011

If you are in the Zoetermeer area, do not miss this restaurant. It's in an old farmhouse with a modernized interior, surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens. It is truly an oasis of rest and calm. Service was for the most part delightful, both professional and friendly; only at the very end did we have to wait too long for things because the restaurant was then totally full. The food is not overly fussy and fairly classic continental in style, not experimental. Many appealing dishes on the menu, with a fairly wide choice. Plates are very nicely presented. The wine list is extremely good, although the selection from France is its least outstanding feature.
