Best Western Hotel Slenaken

Stayed here on the way back from Germany for a single night. It's a little out of the way, but it's worth it - the village is so pretty and worth a walk around - plenty of bars and restaurants. The reception was warm and welcoming, the staff speak English enough to get by. I booked a Junior Suite and it was simply huge. In fact it was too big, I felt lost! You could have a party for 50 in it, no joke - it even had it's own kitchen! However, the suites are at the far end of the hotel and their WIFI does not reach that far, beware. I stayed there again on another occasion and booked a normal room which was closer to the reception, the room was still larger than average which was nice and WIFI reception was good. The bar was welcoming and the restaurant busy with guest and locals.

I went here for business in march. On the check in the staff was friendly, but what I found very strange is that a (slightly) tipsy older woman was commenting the receptionnist on what he explained.

I do not know if the woman was the manager, but she was holding a glass of wine, commenting the poor guy. Very strange in 4 star hotel.

Location of the hotel is excellent and idyllic, the room was nice and big. During the night however I could not sleep because of the humming of my minibar... I do not understand that the housekeeping ladies do not mention such things at the management...

The breakfast buffet was excellent and complete, with fresh juice.

Due to the bad night sleep I cannot rate this hotel more than 3/5

All details you expect of a four star lodging are there: Ample parking space to start with, free Wi-Fi in the room, a small fridge with mini bar, reasonably priced (!), an electric water heater for brewing tea and instant coffee, a spacious bathroom with tub and separate shower stall, the room itself has a refurbished feel, with a carpet without stains and fresh paintwork. Of course there is always something to cavil about. The room is a bit small; the space between the window and the right side of the double bed was just enough to squeeze through. Furthermore, an antiquated television was suspended high in a corner, looming large in the small room. I would think you may expect a flat screen television in your hotel room in 2013! But putting this aside, there is generally nothing wrong with this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. Actually we found a pretty nice offer so we paid 50eur for one Saturday night.
Check-in was easy and quick, the staff was and polite and speaking English.
By the overall look of the hotel and the scenery, you would expect the same reflection in the rooms.
Well, our room was only ok, not a lot of space for 4star accommodation, quite clean and quite though (got me thinking if I was given this room because of the offer...)
Breakfast was nice with a number of choices, still not quite adequate for 4 star.

A nice experience overall.

We stayed one night at this hotel. The location is beautiful, you look amazingly over the Gulp Valley. The hotel itself came to us as past glory. In its heyday it must have been a great hotel ... but not anymore.
The checkin was done by the handyman, so he was at least dressed. The room was large enough, but quite dated and some damage on the furniture. In the bathroom there were some hairs from previous guests, bah! The entire hotel needs a good refresher. We slept very well... The breakfast was basic but sufficient. The distance to Slenaken is 1.5 km.
It was mid-July but the hotel was not half full. The whole made an impression and atmosphere from another time ... a shame it could have been so beautiful ..

This is the highest hotel in Holland, with some lovely panoramic views. It's run by two young brothers and their families, who invest a lot of their time and effort in making your stay fun. You can just sit down at the bar and chat away to whoever is next to you, and it could well be the owners. Food is of a good standard, breakfast too. Very spacious comfortable rooms. 1km walk into the small village of Slenaken. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the village

Nice, big rooms, beds were ok. Staff was polite and hard working. We would give a high note for hygiene if we hadn´t found an unpleasant smelly brown surprise in the toilet at arrival. Breakfast is ok, fresh fruits, nice bread (really nice croissants), you might need some patience for a replenishment of the buffet.

We had some trouble with the hot water supply in the shower. Although we didn´t touch thermostatic shower faucet, temperature went up and down from piping hot to icecold.

The price for wifi in the room blew us away (Euro 5,95 for 50 minutes). Shouldn´t wifi be free in a 4-star hotel?

The hotel is nicely situated in the hills (220 m), so you need to love climbing or you need your car. If you go out for a walk at night, do bring a pocket lamp as there is little streetlighting.

Non-smoking hotel, but sometimes the cigarettesmell coming from the bar was unpleasant.
