This is our 5th time visiting Vilamoura and we already have a few favourite Portuguese restaurants in the area, although many are much the same, so we really fancied something different last night. We have noticed the Castizo restaurant previously and are so glad that we finally decided to try it. Received a lovely welcome from the friendliest waiter who showed us straight to our table - we chose to sit outside as the weather was so warm, although the restaurant itself is beautiful inside. We ordered the guacamole starter to share and this was prepared freshly at our table. Absolutely gorgeous and a real joy to see how it's made! We both opted for enchiladas for our mains, with sides of wedges and Mexican rice to share. Both the dishes and sides were absolutely lovely, fresh and full of flavour. Portions are huge so next time we will share! Prices here are not the cheapest but it really is worth paying a little bit more than usual to experience this top quality, authentic Mexican/Argeninian food and faultless service. Can't wait to return!

Great Restaurant. Not the largest of places but it offers both in and outside seating. Can't remember if there was a kids menu but there were kids there enjoying the experience too. Friendly staff. Great food - very filling! Go for the guacamole and watch them prepare it at your table, you'll be trying it yourself back home!

We visited Castizo with a hunger for Mexican food having unfortunately missed out on a burrito earlier in the day that left an itch to be scratched. As we were in Vilamoura we searched for Mexican nearby and Castizo came out on top. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and gave us small margaritas as a welcome, along with a couvert of nachos, both of which were delicious. The guacamole was prepared in front of us but was somewhat lost on me as, after 4/5 awkward minutes it was after all just guacamole and what seemed like store bought chips. The cheese nachos were nice but again seemed store bought and the cheese dip was cold so not entirely appetising. For main course we both had a burrito. I'm quite the lover of Mexican food, especially the spicy and hot variety, but this just really tasted bland and uninteresting. By the end of the meal we were ready to leave and head down the promenade for an ice cream instead of opting for a desert there.

Overall, the food was average but our waiter was a gentleman.

6.5/10
