I stayed at this beautiful hotel in July 2017 and it was more than I could have expected and hoped for in a hotel. Firstly, the new hotel décor is lovely - very modern and top of the range furnishings in both the main hotel and in our room. We had a third floor deluxe room overlooking the adult pool, with the golf course in the distance and the view was just beautiful. Our bed was huge and so comfortable and the walk in wardrobe was a nice touch. We spent time at both the main family pool and the adults only pool and both were extremely clean and the pool staff were very helpful with providing towels or helping to adjust sunbeds. A special mention must go to Diogo who is an absolute credit to the hotel and who couldn't do enough for us whenever we were by the pool. The lunch menu was perfect for light bites and the cocktails were even better! We used the hotel's shuttle service to and from Vilamoura marina which was great and meant we didn't need to get taxis there and back. When we wanted a taxi to take us to nearly Vale do Lobo, the hotel arranged this and we were there within half an hour. Lastly, the breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. The quality of the food is a 10/10 and the choice was just fantastic. All in all, we had a fantastic trip and have already started planning our next trip to Anantara Vilamoura for my birthday next year!

Room Tip: A room on the higher floors offers the best view - both pool and golf course

The hotel is surrounded by golf courses so is quiet. The staff can not do enough for you. They are friendly professional happy and so amazing. The hotel is perfect in many ways. The breakfast is amazing with so much choice, traditional British breakfast along side pastries, omelettes, fruit, continental breakfasts just brilliant.
The pools a great and they have a kids club - the only group who might not enjoy this hotel are teenagers as it’s just too remote for them and not enough to do.
The hotel has a free bus that takes you into town on demand and brings you back. It also has a tuktuk which drives you around the area for a free tour.
I’m plan on going back, it was that good.

I could not have asked for anything more, the hotel were incredible from start to finish and I have never experienced a better service. From the pool side service to the car valet team and the reception all of the staff were world class. We had a late flight and asked if we could check out slightly later and they moved our check out to 6pm at no extra cost! The breakfast was amazing and had a great variety, the EMO restaurant was a wonderful experience slightly expensive but was one of the best meals we have had together, would highly recommend. I would go back in a heart beat, it was 32 degrees in October and am looking to go back again next year!

We do not golf and would have much preferred a beach hotel, but after staying at several Anantaras in Asia, when we saw they opened on the Algarve, we had to stay there. We booked our room, to celebrate a special occasion, many months prior to our arrival.
We had had a challenging 4 days in Portugal and looked forward to arriving, and relaxing for a few hours at the hotel's pool.
The lobby was cavernous but no one ever seemed to be at the desk. Upon check-in, we wondered around trying to find someone to help us.
Finally we were taken care of by a young student who seemed sweet enough, but had very little knowledgeable of the hotel or the surrounding area.
We were introduced to the concierge, who claimed to be an expert on all things Algarve. But sadly when we asked for a restaurant recommendation, he told us to just go to the marina and wander around.
We had booked a deluxe pool view room, and were taken to a room at the very far end of the hotel with a view of a patch of grass. In order to see the pool, we had to go out on the terrace and lean over the rail.
We asked to see a manager because this was unsatisfactory.
We met with Andre, the front desk manager on duty. He asked us to wait in the lobby for him to find us a better room. Two agonizing hours later, when all of our relaxation time at the pool was wasted, Andre took us back to the annex-like wing of the hotel and
to a room only 2 doors down and one flight up from the original room. This was a marginal improvement at best and definitely NOT worth the 2 hour wait and all that wasted time.
When we told him this was unacceptable, we were Informed there was nothing more he could do and because it was a Sunday, there were no higher ups on duty.
Shame on him and shame on Anantara for not empowering their employees to make things right for their guests. This was certainly Not like our experiences in Asia where we had been Wowed, and we will not be staying at an Anantara any longer. Andre bragged at having worked at a 3 star hotel in Lisbon and that was exactly the level of service he offed us, 3 star and not the 5 star we expected from Anantara.
A few design flaws, the shelf in the shower is so small that a tiny bottle of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel will not fit on it. You will receive a minimal number of toiletries and not the large array usually supplied at a 5 star hotel. There was not even a shaving kit. The make-up mirror is bolted to the countertop in the bathroom and its height cannot be adjusted. It is also wedged into a corner where it is impossible to be utilized.
The only upside to our stay was that the breakfast was lovely.

Don't go here if you're looking for worldwide Anantara quality . The property is great but massively let down by awful standards of service from guest services to restaurants to room service . 5 star property 2 star service
