Going to give you everything about the trip here because I found useful information lacking in reviews of the hotels and the area of Vilamoura.

Used e-bookers with no problem and flights were less than going through airlines. Hotel price was the same as booking directly with them.

Booked Yellowfish Transfer on the net and they were waiting when we arrived---25 euro each way. Very nice and totally recommend them.

Arrived at the hotel and check-in was fast. Door men very nice and always had a smile and hello in lobby through out stay. Nice reception. We booked a suite deluxe, simply because it said that's all they had. It was the last suite on the 11th floor and had a 'side view' of the ocean. I'd say it was 1/2 of the view--you could see the marina and the land beyond it. Direct view straight ahead was hotel and below casino. At night the view of the lights was gorgeous. The balcony got sun from 3 pm onward. I loved the view of the ocean while on the balcony. Balcony had 2 chairs with cushions.

The downstairs had a full bathroom/shower, loads of closets, table 4 chairs, couch, another chair, coffee table, tv and cabinet with mini bar. The mini bar was empty with a list of things you could call to have stocked, but didn't bother. 2 small bottles of water were supplied, almost every day...missed 2. There is an espresso machine, no cups or coffee/tea. Makes 1 cup at a time. Iron/board in closet.

My suggestion would be bring your own tea/coffee and if you don't trust the room one, bring a travel kettle. Bring paper cups---they have them there, but that's a story in it's own below. There is an ice bucket, but you must bring it down to the bar to get ice. Bring large ziplock bags and leave in your bag to get ice on way to room. I put ice and bucket in fridge and it stayed nicely. Also, water is 4 euro a litre at hotel. There is a small supermarket to the right when you come out of hotel and walk down driveway....You can get 6 bottles for 81 cents. Yep! Used that for tea in room and to bring to pool.

The upstairs had a king size bed, closets, drawers, table, chairs, full bathroom, shower and TV. Bed was firm, but perfect for us. They supply toppers if you find it too hard. Windows, but no view at all. A lot of wood throughout the room. 2 robes and slippers. Safe. Towels are very hard---a little fabric softener would go a long way. Small soaps and the usual, shampoo, cap.

Breakfast was included and they certainly had a lot to choose from, but there was nothing special. I adore bacon, but didn't eat it as it was always under cooked and fatty. There was champagne in a bucket for am drink if you wanted. The omelet station was okay and I had that most days. Choices were, cheese, parsely, onion, mushroom, ham..... Lots of breads and cold meats/cheese..fruit, tomato, beans, etc. You had to chase the waiter for coffee or tea. They only give you one tea bag so ask if you want more. We chose to eat out one morning and had a great breakfast in PAO PAO around the corner.

Pool: Monday - Wednesday had no problem getting pool chairs, but after that--forget it. All gone in the am and people's towels just sitting there all day. My husband brought this to their attention and they said they knew, but could do nothing about it. There were 2 pool people that always stay at the shallow end. You must walk down to get them to open your umbrella. They could walk around and see what people need, instead of sitting talking all day. They expected a tip, too. The pool is large and very nice. If there are no chairs, you move up to the bean bags which are ridiculous on wet grass. You set them up and again, have to get a guy to open umbrella. Don't see why they couldn't walk around the area every 15 minutes and see if anyone needed help.

Pool Bar: One staff person, even at the weekend and you had to wait forever for anything. 4 euro for 1 litre of water is steep. You can order food there to be brought to you or eat at the tables there. Average food.

Lobby: Beautiful, computers for use, loads of chairs, done in a beautiful off white decor.

Inside Bar: Staff doesn't have a clue what they are doing. It's like none are professional bartenders. 3 couples went up one evening, they were the only people at bar. Ordered and it didn't come...man was taking care of the wait staff. They asked again, nothing after 5 mins. They asked again and the bartender said I am very busy. They walked away mad. Couldn't blame them. The tables get waited on, but yes, you wait. I found it much easier to get up and go to the bar to pay the bill than wait---again. Pool tables and lots of TV's that retract when games are not on. Decor is airy and tasteful.

Beach: Gorgeous, Beautiful and easy 2 min walk from hotel. No knowledge of the chairs/charges.

Patio: Large and beautiful beside pool. Lovely chairs, couches and tables. The wait staff were nice, but you did have to track them down. Again, easier to walk up to the bar to pay the bill than wait a long time.

Staff: Rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day and the housekeeping staff always spoke. Very clean hotel all around. The doormen always had a smile and hello.

Shop: There is shop with papers, books, souvenirs, medicine, etc.

Negative: After buying drinks at the pool and having lunch on the patio one day, I asked at the bar if I could get a plastic cup. The woman, Isa___ (can't remember) said we only give a cup if you are buying something. I said you are kidding me, I just spent loads and am staying here for a week. She shook her head and handed me one and said you can have it this time, but not again. That really left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, overheard a man coming in from the pool asking the bartender if he could get ice cream for his kid and was told no they didn't have any. They did, at the pool bar.

There are great restaurants on the beach right by the hotel. Or just cocktails. The hotel has music 4 or 5 nights a week in the bar and you can hear it on the patio. Nice singers doing covers.

There is a casino across the street if you are facing the front of the hotel and one night at midnight there was very loud dance music booming.....I called reception and he said he'd take care of it and he did. The music stopped within 5 minutes.

Easy walk to the marina where there are loads of restaurants, little shops, ice cream, coffee shops. If you walk all the way around, there is a little shop next to O'Neill's bar that has amazing costume jewelry that is so cheap they are practically giving it away! And they asked to gift wrap it for no cost!

Didn't use the spa, but heard it was very good.

Think the nicest rooms are the junior suites facing the ocean and would definitely get one on the 10th floor.

We had a fantastic vacation met interesting people from honeymooners to pensioners that were a blast. Will return to this hotel again, hopefully!

Room Tip: Go for junior suite on the 10th floor facing ocean. If getting suite deluxe, get one closest to the...

Just returned from a 7 night stay.
Great hotel and location. All of the staff were friendly, very helpful and knowledgable of the local area.
We would like to give a special mention to Isalinda (restaurant), Paula (Reception) and the 2 Andre's !
As previous reviewers have restated the one and only real issue was the towels on the sun beds! guests putting towels on very early I morning am not actually using the beds. The Fat boy bean bags are not suitable for ALL people.
A suggestion may be that pool staff monitor usage of the beds around the pool and if no one has occupied ones with towels on for more than an hour, then those towels should be removed!

Stayed: May 2014

Have just arrived home from 5 nights at Crowne Plaza, can honestly say I have never stayed in a hotel where every single member of the staff was cheerful, unfailingly polite and super helpful. Nothing was too much trouble .
The hotel was spotlessly clean, the breakfast brilliant with everything you could want including sparkling wine to make Bucks fizz, featherlight pancakes, enough fruit to feed an army and an omlette chef to make one to your specifications.
Evening meal was typical hotel warmish buffet, but with great salad selection, smoked salmon, fresh prawns, excellent cold beef and some lovely puds. Sufficent for anyone!
I notice another reviewer has said not enough sunbeds.....there were plenty around the pool and the 'red beanbags' were actually FatBoy mattresses which were super comfy and in a lovely breeze, they also said the Fatboys were unappealing but the hotel gave you new towels whenever you asked to lie on so how is that different to a sunbed? Some people are so sniffy!
Room was light, airy and well furnished with its sliding glass wall which made the room seem larger. My partners only complaint was that the air conditioning did not get cool enough and the room was warm at night.
However we understood that it was particularly warm last week for so early in the season so perhaps it wasn't on full?
The hotel is also just 50 yards from the beach and it is woth noting that there is a boardwalk down to the beach with ramps and a boardwalk right up to the sunbeds on the beach which means that wheelchairs and scooters can get right onto the beach the same as everyone else , which is something I havent seen anywhere else. Also the whole area of Villamoura and Quarteira is flat with excellent promenades suitable for wheelchairs. I only note this because there is often a lack of such information for would be holiday makers.
All in all a great holiday at a great Hotel in a lovely resort, we will be returning soon.

Room Tip: Rooms with odd numbers face morning sun and Quarteira, Evens face Casino/Villamoura and evening sun.
