We had been in Vilasol many times, a few times in the apartments and in the Hotel too. We had been in Vilasol Hotel for a weak, in 2 conneting rooms in main building last weak. Rooms are very good size, large bathroom and terrace and very confortable beeds. Nothing bad to say about rooms, clean everyday, change towles and linen and with everthing like TV, safety, fridge and iron. Bathrooms amenities could be much better, like it was in past, only champoo, soup and nothing more.
Breakfast is excellent, is more a nice lunch! Is really a 5 stars breakfast with everthing live cooking eggs, salads, juices, breads, fruits and much more.
Staff is very friendly, profissional and helpfull.
Pool area is lovely but needs to have more sunbeds ( like in the past), many of then are broken in Hotel garage. Childreen pool is very big and separate from the main pool. There are indoor pool too.
We lunch in pool bar a few times, nice food but pricely.
We never dinner in Hotel restaurant, Vilamoura has excellent restaurants much more
Hotel provides free cortesy bus to Falesia beach in Vilamoura 4 times a day and beach and pool towles too.
Vilasol Hotel doesn´t have free sunbeds and parasol on the beach like many others 5 stars in Vilamoura, you must pay it on the beach and is not cheaper!
Vilasol Hotel is not on the beach and is not easy walking to beach or Vilamoura marina, like I said, Hotel provides free cortesy bus 4 times a day and taxi service coast more and less 10€ each trip.
We like very much our weak in Vilasol Hotel and we will return but, in my opinion, Vilasol Hotel needs to be more carefully with a few thinks, like pool cleaness during the day, pool bar service, there arent waitress in pool area , bathroom amenities, beach club with sunbeds, more sunbeds on the pool, thinks that Vilasol Hotel has on the past and doen´t have any more.

Stayed in the vila sol village apartments, and had the most amazing 3rd floor split new apartment.Fabulous, everything you could want in accomodation for an amazing stay.Roof terrace with ample sun beds, table and chairs barbeque, and lovely space.Weather in August was extremely hot so air conditioning was much appreciated. The gardens and pools were lovely, loads of space, however there was definetly a shortage of sun beds and parasols, which led to towels being put on beds as early as 5.30am,and then not being used until maybe 3pm,so a few problems caused when towels were removed. For the accomodation and prices i think every apartment should be allocated beds that are numbered which i have seen in other apartments privately owned! problem sorted. At times it was actually quite nice to lie on the grass underneath a tree and get a bit of the shade.I travelled with my husband and 7 year old child. We found it impossible to rent a car months before hand and only got a car in the 2nd week at a cost of £517.00.Up until this we had to taxi into Vilamoura which wasnt a problem as long as the taxi came! Staff from the onsite bar and restaurant ordered taxis for us to be met outside, but some people stood at the entrance to the complex further away from oscars bar and flagged down taxi and jumped in. Make sure to book for a specific location away from the bar or entrance to the resort so that you get the taxi you ordered. With a 7 year old and no rental car,you are very isolated here.A swimming pool is not enough to keep a child entertained most of the day,and i started to shrivel up being in the pool most of the day as there werent that many kids that mixed with each other. Thankfully i got chatting to a lovely Irish woman who had 3 children, and my son had great play time with them. The bar and restaurant Oscars was fine for food.good quality and great service, but if you don't drink and don't want to be in a bar with a child, they do have a lovely garden to sit in,but there is quite a bit of noise from the main road outside.Didn't have a great experience in the italian, but they did say 5 members of staff let them down. Loads of customers left, not a good night for all and not cheap if the food had been good! everybody allowed a bad night.Overall apartment was amazing, gardens glorious, food at pool bar really good, deli france on site great for fresh breads and incredible pastries, supermarket had absolutely everything you need, But i missed not being able to walk off the resort and soak up a bit of Portugal without having to depend on taxi or rental car.Definetly need a car while staying here as you really can't depend on taxis.Loved the apartment, loved the gardens, amazing security, staff at pool bar great, but with a child i think i would look for something that had more entertainment for children at night without having to go to a bar or travelling to vilamoura and walking around the marina.Resort gorgeous, probably better for older children who don't need entertained, and for couples who want total relaxation during day and a chilled out evening or late night session at the marina.Wasn't the resort for me with a child, but with a group of girls, who didn't mind taxis, great!

Travelling abroad for the first time with young children we took care to seek a quiet hotel offering good facilities for families within reasonable distance of the beach.
The Hotel Vila Sol certainly provided high quality accommodation, good fresh food, and a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and made the children feel welcomed and at home. The overall standard of service was excellent throughout our stay and the shuttle bus service to Vilamoura very convenient. The childrens pool is seperate from the main pool, was a definite hit with the children but could do with some upgrading..
Would we recommend the hotel to other families with young children?Yes but with the following proviso:
The hotel is located about 2Km from the main entrance to the hotel grounds and golf resort. This means that if you wish to access public transport, the nearest supermarket or the nearest bar/restaurants outside the hotel and resort complex you face a 4Km round trip. We did not have access to a car so we resorted to the use of taxis but at 10 euros for a round trip this makes a trip to the supermarket to pick up groceries and snacks essential for the well being of young children expensive. The annoying aspect of this situation, and the reason we did not give top marks for service is that the Hotel do operate a regular shuttle service to the Hotel Spa which is located at the resort entrance, opposite the supermarket but have a corporate policy not to offer access to this service to non spa users. The staff obviously appeared awkward with this policy which, if reversed, would make the hotel far more user friendly for families with young children and make us more prepared to consider revisiting the hotel or recommend to friends and colleagues.

Expecting a 5 star resort we were sorely disappointed. We had booked a 2 bed apartment at this resort. We had trouble finding it but when I telephoned reception the girl on duty was very helpful calling me back on my mobile and talking me through the directions as we drove there. On arriving at the apartment we found the level of decoration and furnishing to be poor and it was generally grubby with stains on the bed covers and floor tiles, sofas that could do with a good steam clean and torn wallpaper. The second bathroom was fitted out for the disabled which surprised us. The TV was very chunky and old-fasioned rather than flat screen which would be expected in a 5 star property. The only plus was that the laundry equipment looked very new. Based on what we saw, I do not recommend these apartments at all. Did not see hotel rooms or amenities, however the reception area looked 3 star rather than 5.

Firstly, it helps to understand that Vila Sol is a huge complex comprising a golf course, hotel, spa, shops and hundreds of villas - I'm not sure if thes villas are privately owned, timeshare of whatever. My review relates to the hotel.

Hotel Vila Sol is a luxury, comfortable leisure-orientated hotel. We booked it on the strength of it being in the Marriott group which is a brand we trust. It's no longer in that group, but the feel of ther place and the quality matched up to our expectations.

We booked a 'Suite with Garden View'. This was an excellent option for our family (2 adults plus 8 year-old). The suites are separate from (but very close to) the main hotel building and ours had a separate living room, bathroom and bedroom. The bedroom opened onto a private patio with table, chairs and sunloungers. This in turn looked onto beautiful gardens. This arrangement was excellent, as the adults had the bedroom and patio to relax in after our daughter was in bed. Note to the thrifty: the mini bar is a normal fridge, so you can put your own supermarket cans in as well!

The main attraction is the pool area which has a shallow pool for small children, connected by a series of waterfalls to the main pool. The whole area feels open and airy and is surrounded by gardens. There are ample sunloungers and umbrellas and there is a pool bar/cafe. Despite the hotel being full, this area never felt crowded. There are lots of families, so there's plenty of company for the kids.

There is an indoor pool but the weather meant we didn't use it. The gym looked well equipped and the kids enjoyed the games room.

Breakfast was excellent : a huge buffet leaving you spoilt for choice. Considering the selection it's good value at E15 if not already included in your room rate. Dinner is also a buffet with differing nightly themes. The seafood night (Thursday) was especially good. In both cases, children under 12 eat free. There is also an a la carte restaurant which looked very good, although we didn't eat there as it wasn't really for children.

Vila Sol boasts a spa (pricey), shops, pub, restaurants etc but note that they are a mile away at the main gate. The supermarket is useful and has normal (i.e. not 5*) prices e.g. beer is 54c a can!

The location on the ede of town means that you need transport to get anywhere. The hotel runs a free shuttle bus to the marina (the main hub and close to the beach), but only 3 times a day. The last is 5:45 pm, which is OK for an evening out if you're happy to start early. Taxis back cost well under E10.

Al in all, we had an excellent few days at Vila Sol. The staff were universally helpful and friendly and the standards were what we expected. If I had to be critical, I would say that the pool area wasn't always cleaned and tidied as well as it could be each night and the lobby bar felt a bit sterile, but these are minor details. We looked in at the Hilton up the road which probaby had a bit more 5* glitz and polish, but the pool area didn't really look as welcoming or relaxing and the whole place felt a bit high-rise. For a holiday like this, I preferred the Vila Sol and would definitely recommend it.

My wife and stayed at the Vila Sol hotel in August. The hotel is about ten minutes by bus from Villamoura and a taxi was about ten Euros, all taxis are metered. We arrived at 11 o’clock at night and booked in. With some brief instructions we were told to find our own way to our garden room 1703. This was a difficult task as it was at night, dark and the room was a good way away from the hotel.
The complex is very big and we had a great deal of difficulty finding it as the room numbers on the notice boards only gave the first two numbers which was confusing. We managed to stop a passing member of staff who showed us to our room. I felt that we should have been escorted to our room when we booked in.
The room was not I would class as five star, I felt it was somewhat small and a little basic. The bathroom was certainly five star, with two basins, two showers and a bath and a bidet and toilet, with marble tiling, really lovely. The bath was very deep and older people may find it difficult and dangerous getting out as the there was no mat on the floor except a small towel to stand on.
The towels were changed daily but the toiletries were in adequate, the bottles must have been the smallest we have ever found, not enough for two people. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of soft pillows.
The air conditioning was not effective in that particular room and there was not full length mirror but the lighting was good with plenty of lamps.
The cleaning of the rooms was variable each day, some days it was not cleaned until nearly five o’clock and there was a thick layer of dust under the bed! Some days it was made immaculate but other days it was not.
There is a free hotel mini bus service which went at set times to the marina and then to the beach. This needs to be booked at the reception.
The beautiful hotel, its grounds, facilities, swimming pools with plenty of sun beds, golf course etc were certainly five star but the best thing about the Vila Sol hotel were the staff, they were extremely, cheerful, polite and courteous at all times. Room service was excellent but the bars at the hotel did seem to close early. The prices for drinks and food are fair and are clearly price listed.
The area around Vila Sol could do with some shops, bars, restaurants and a better taxi service or some form of public transport. It is quiet a very quiet location but very beautiful and green.
Although I have criticised aspects of the hotel we did have wonderful and enjoyable holiday at the Vila Sol, just the little things let it down as a five star hotel.

Travelled here on a golfing holiday last September. It was a great base location for our golfing adventure in the Algarve. Stayed in one of the apartments and I could not fault it.

The breakfast was very appetising and the golf on site was great. I played every day on my seven day trip and the driving range was perfect for sorting out the kinks in my swing.

The pool was fine as was the food in their restaurant Tratorria.

Car rental is a must.
