Stayed at The Lake Resort for 5 days at the beginning of September with my husband and 7 mth old daughter. Couldn't fault the hotel on any level, it was wonderful and the staff were so friendly and kind towards both us and especially my daughter. Service was fabulous. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in for quite a while.

Easy walking distance to both the Marina and beach, great restaurant on the beach.

I love a reliable hotel and we were able just to chill out and know that everything was being taken care off.

Atmosphere down at the Marina is v. buzzy and loads of restaurants. Will certainly return.

All expectations met. Well designed room (separate toilet room is always popular when I travel with with my family - no idea why ;-). Well maintained, quiet, generally efficient hotel. 3 good pools, with sand based pool an innovative idea, although a bit rough on the feet. Breakfast cold as per other reviews, but choice and quality good and staff attentive and charming. There's also something very wicked about drinking bubbly at 9am :-)Restaurant pricing in the hotel is a strategic error - it forces families into the marina area and costs the hotel a great deal of bar and restaurant revenue - we did use the main restaurant for an Italian buffet - €125 plus service for 2 adults and a child was expensive, but the quality was excellent, the wine flowed freely, and the evening flew by. More buffets would keep folk in the hotel. To eat cheaply, use your hirecar and go to Olhos d'Agua to the restaurants outside the Sheraton Algarve. They offer no surprises but are excellent value - perhaps 70% of the price of a marina meal. The BMW Driving Experience (offered in the hotel by BMW) was an added bonus - €140 for 4 hours including fuel in a 650i V8 soft top was dad and son's idea of petrol heaven (and dad was never going to resist the charming sales pitch of Ann Kathrin from BMW ;-)

Overall, an excellent relaxing week. It's our 15th wedding anniversary next April, and right now this hotel is at the top of the list for the celebration.....Thoroughly recommended....

Me, my husband, my 15yr old son and his friend stayed at the Lake Resort on 23 July for 5 nights. We arrived early but only had to wait about 15minutes for our rooms. On arrival there was a chilled bottle of cava in each room.
The spa is superb and there was no charge to use the spa facilities like the sauna, turkish bath or Roman bath. The treatments were reasonably priced.
The boys had a great time and we hardly saw them! The hotel have bicycles which are free to use, as are the kayaks and pedalos on the lake. The table tennis and pool tables are also free of charge and there is a football/basketball court so there was plenty for them to do.
The beach is only a short stroll away and is spotlessly clean. The hotel has its own reserved beds and parasols on the beach which are free of charge and we never had any problem getting beds.
The pools were gorgeous, especially the 'beach pool', and never crowded, there were always plenty of beds available and they are not crammed close together as in some resorts.
The hotel is expensive but as they dont charge for all the little extras that some other 5 stars charge for it is actually really good value, even the internet in the hotel library was free to use.
Vilamoura marina is only a short walk away, the boys often used the hotel bicycles to pedal round to the marina shops.
There are loads of good restaurants in Vilamoura and a great choice of excursions leaving from the marina.
The staff at the resort were all excellent and nothing was ever too much trouble. There was a turn down service every night and a chocolate left on our pillow. The breakfast was great, the boys enjoyed the freshly made omlettes every day, but there was loads of other choice.
A brilliant place for children of all ages as the kids club and play area for smaller children looked excellent.
We really couldnt fault the Lake Resort, its the best hotel we have stayed in on the Algarve. We will be returning in October.

I stayed at the Lake hotel on a couple of occasions for business purposes. The hotel is fairly central and offers a contemporary design that matches well the destination. The rooms are large and well thought of. I wasn't particularly impressed by the breakfast set-up, but the produce were of a good quality.
Business services offering could be better, when compared with other internaitonal hotels.

This is our 3rd visit in a row to the Lake Resort Hotel. Our young son now 7 adores it, the Koala club is definitely geered up for children with an great activity programme and fabulous staff. The safety aspect also appeals to us, you can watch your children as they play in the Koala club, they are very safe. The staff have been fantastic on both our 2 previous visits both to ourselves and our son and we are so looking forward to going back. The apartments are just wonderful, very spacious and very clean and a fabulous huge bed. All in al we work on the theory, if your children are happy then you are going to be and out little boy just loves it at the Lake Resort Hotel.

We have just returned from the Lake Resort for the 3rd time. Everything was great as usual.

We had a third floor garden view which we could see the sea from our balcony. The room was well furnished and kept very clean at all times. Our only comment would be that the bathroom is very small and the shower area was inclined to wet the rest of the bathroom.

The breakfasts are excellent - buffet style and everything is there - even champagne!!!

We only ate at lunch times in the hotel as we found the food very expense so we went to the Marina restaurants to eat in the evenings.

We shall be going back next year!!!

Excellent holiday yet again. Many of the staff remembered us from last year and were very welcoming.
The hotel was busier than our first visit without any adverse consequences. We took advantage of the free bicycle and pedalo hire provided by the hotel which made for some enjoyable experiences.
The only criticisms I have of the hotel: the turn down service was completed at 4pm on two occasions out of 14 - too early and the pianist should play more frequently in Zanzibar, the hotel lounge/bar.
Apart from that - perfect.

Evening meals at the News Cafe came out on top as we were b and b at the hotel.
We experienced a disappointing meal at the Mayflower, although its decor and position in the marina admittedly is superior to that of the News Cafe. Please be aware that the service, quality of food and selection of desserts in the Mayflower is inferior - other guests at the Lake Resort also felt the same.
