We stayed at the Lake Resort during the second week in April for three nights. We chose the hotel mainly due to the excellent reviews and rating and also having never been to Portugal. I must say, we were not disappointed. What a wonderful hotel and resort. The staff were excellent, the hotel clean, modern and well kept. The food in the hotel was outstanding, so good in fact that i would say that the food in 'Fusion' restaurant was as good as (if not better than) quality restaurants back home and overseas we have been to. Definitely rosette standard - without the cost! Equally they had a lovely bar area where we discovered a superb gin menu with a barman who certainly knew his job and how to mix the perfect drink. The hotel was not crowded due to our stay being just before the Easter school holidays, which was perfect for the relaxing break we needed. The outdoor area of the hotel was as well kept as the indoors, beautifully maintained gardens, pools and sun bed areas. The beach was a few minutes walk from the hotel and was lovely. Reviews of the area of Vilamoura had mentioned there was not much to do and this was not wrong. The marina area was pretty much purpose built so if you're looking for the beautiful cobbled town streets some areas of Portugal have to offer then this is not the place for you. That said, it was clean, friendly and with plenty of good restaurant choice. It's probably a good golfing base and a car would be useful if you're there for a longer break than we were. We also ate at a tapas type restaurant for lunch called Uniko which was super friendly and felt a bit more traditional. We also had traditional Portuguese food at Akvavit where we sat by the boats on the marina, very tranquil. We would stay at this hotel again if we wanted to get away from it all and laze the days away with people who care about your stay.

Went for 3days with my daughter to relax and enjoy the sunshine. This hotel is just superb, I have stayed in my luxury hotels with work. And I have to say this this was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. From check in to check out the staff and service were fantastic. We didn't want to come home. The pools were lovely and the us beds overlooking the lake were just so relaxing, we watched the fish jump out of the water... The pool snack bar was reasonably priced and good quality food. The breakfast was also very nice and plenty of choice. The room was very nice and spotlessly clean. An iron would be useful and as previously mentioned tea and coffee facilities would certainly add to the great service provided. Thank you to all the staff, we plan to return very soon.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely, lake view would be my preference

We arrived on early morning flight are hotel room wasnt ready so we were offered breakfast. We went to the beach for a walk and came back to relax until our rooms were ready.
I came back and room was ready and we were given a lovely upgraded room with a fabulous balcony.
The room-lovely bath and shower. And seperate toilet. Lovely balcony that overlooked the pools. Room was lovely and a good size. No iron or tea or cofee making facilities only downfall.
Breakfast-everything you could want. Fry, meats breads and cava if you wanted a glass in the morning. And an omelette station with someone to make them whatever way you liked.
The pools. Fantastic but cold. The beach pool such a good idea and the kids loved it. Gorgeous lake where you take a paddle boat to try. The grounds are fab so beautiful.
We ate in the restaraunt in the evening time so nice and a very high standard. Service was outstanding.
Overall a faboulous hotel. Has a fantastic spa too. Marina and beach are nearby but you have yo pay for loungers on the beach so only makes you want to stay at hotel more. Marina nearby loys of lovely restaraunts.Try FAIRWAYS for amazing steaks. Its a great place for kids and families. Service throught was outstanding.

Just returned from this hotel and can only agree with all the positive comments of previous posters - especially the extremely professional and polite staff. you will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. We arrived at the hotel at 10.30am expecting a long wait for our room but were happily escorted to our beautiful accommodation within 15 minutes
A couple of minor faults have stopped me giving an overall 5 star rating
Our toilet seat was ill fitting and I stubbed my foot a few times on the raised shower edge which is quite close to the sink.
The cooked buffet breakfast was a bit cold a few mornings.
Would still return if heading back to Vilamoura

Myself, my husband and our 5-year-old son stayed here for 6-nts over Easter and had an absolutely fabulous time. Our son loved the Koala Kids Club, whose staff are exceptional. They even put on a free Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, which the children loved. We stayed in one of the Panoramic Suites, which were the height of luxury, with no less than 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies and a huge amount of wardrobe space. (The only small negative was the lack of tea/coffee-making facilities.) We ate in the hotel's Fusion restaurant one of the night's, where the staff were exceptional and the food was not only top-notch but surprisngly inexpensive. The hotel's location, within a 5 minute walk of the marina and all of its shops and restaurants, was also perfect. We'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: If you like modern with a Balinese twist, then the Panoramic Suites are a must, with their wooden fl...

Just arrived back from a 3 day mini break to the Algarve and had the great fortune to have stayed at this exceptional hotel.
From the point of check in to check out I can't fault it, nor it's attention to detail.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, lovely room, comfortable bed, and most importantly a decent shower with good pressure and easy to control temperature (amazing how difficult this is to find sometimes!)

The pool / beach area is spotless, not a piece of dirt or litter in sight. Well maintained sun loungers and double bed style loungers, clean pools, nice beach bar with a decent food & drinks menu.
If you're looking for somewhere to eat then go no further than the hotels fusion restaurant. Fantastic quality, innovative and beautifully presented dishes, and all at €24 a head. We tried the top two restaurants in Vilamoura as declared by this site and found the hotel restaurant miles apart in both taste and quality.

Myself and my partner both travel for a living and stay in a large number of well known hotels and we both agree that The Lake Resort is up there with the best of them.
Super impressed - well done!
