These two tiny lakes are originated, like others in the area, from dams of moraine hills. They are separated by a bottleneck that is crossed by a bridge from the highway 45bis, making more attractive the landscape of this region, west of Trento: the steep and high mountains that surround the lakes are softened by their presence. The lakes moderate the climate too: the north shore of Lake Toblino is covered by a thick forest of holm oaks, typical Mediterranean trees but inusual in Trentino region. The most impressive sight of both lakes is almost certainly the Toblino Castle, the historic building still lying on the north shore of the lake: seen from the east side, it without too much effort can recall the view of the more famous castle of Chillon on Lake Geneva.
Footpaths with explanatory panels allow you to enjoy properly the lakes, not to be missed even for those who hurriedly cross the region.
