Description: A proper English country pub that oozes old-fashioned charm, low-beamed ceilings, wooden farmhouse tables and cosy fireplace.Overlooking a pond with an attractive church on its far bank and the public golf course beyond, the pub does indeed have a village feel, but it's also easily accessible from central London with fast trains from Waterloo to Esher taking only 20 minutes. If you are planning a day trip to Hampton Court, it's worth the five-minute drive down the road. Our home-made food is tasty and tempting; the type you just want to get stuck into on a winter's day - soup of the day, deep-fried camembert, hot baguettes, steak and ale pie, chilli, not to mention our popular Sunday roast - but summer weekends are also filled with barbecues and jugs of Pimm's in our pretty garden with its outside bar. There's a wonderful selection of wines and, as the nights draw in, fireworks and the festive season provide lots of opportunities to warm up over a glass of the mulled stuff.

Went here a couple of weeks ago for lunch and had the best bacon and Brie sandwich (baguette) ever. Loads of bacon and well melted cheese: absolutely delicious.
We went for lunch last Sunday and the sandwich experience wasn’t a one off. Excellent lunch, huge portions of well cooked food and very friendly and efficient service. Altogether first class.

Great atmosphere and even better food. Shame there aren’t more tables. It’s a cosy, original, old style and fab pub.

Second visit here
Couple of things that were wrong on first visit now rectified
The roast beef was absolutely lovely and loads of it
Everything on the plate was delicious
Cauliflower cheese gorgeous
If I had to make one tiny criticism then it is that the plates were not warm
Staff lovely
Now my go to place for Sunday roast

We booked a table for four for during the week to have dinner. We walked in, didn't get any greeting or smile and were asked to be seen to our table. We were pointed to it and after a few minutes the menus were flung on the table. The menu's were very sparse as they only contained about 5 meals whereas the website had a fair bit more. The prices on the menu's were also higher than the website. Nobody came over for at least 10 minutes so we walked out and went somewhere else, the staff did not even bother saying anything as we left. Perhaps they can't talk? The ambience was also cold and it all felt rather tired.

Arrived with no booking but they managed to fit us in, lovely roast with the best cauliflower cheese ever. Broccoli was a bit hard though.
Doesn’t ever disappoint.
